*LYCIA*My blood froze. What was my mother doing here?Turning around to look at her I find the darkness of the night shroud her features but the aura she radiated is heavily clogging the air around me. She is more than just livid.“M-Mom? What are you doing here?” I asked, unable to raise my eyes to look at her face. I had been reprimanded before, rather harshly too but this time I had made a blunder that I wouldn’t be able to rectify that easily.“Are you sure you should be the one asking me questions here?” she thundered, “What were you thinking Lycia? That you would transport out of the coven and I, the queen and your mother, wouldn’t even be aware of it?” I always had a doubt that my mother had been dabbling in tracking spell along with the protection spell she put on me but I hadn't been very sure. The potion too that she fed me occasionally had been similar to these qualities but I never cared about it before because I never had anything to hide, in fact it made me feel safe.
*LYCIA*It happened so instantly that I could barely fathom it but almost at once I had been pressed into the backrest of the Sofa where I had been seated before as the sofa went flying back into the wall behind carrying both Seff and Esme still seated along with me.“What the fuck did you say?” she shouted, cursing at me, letting me know how truly pissed she was.I would have answered her if I had the breath to but her magic had been pressing so tightly around my neck, like a vice that I could barely even breathe as I thrashed around in the suspended sofa trying to live.“Aldith!” my dad immediately pushed her hand down as he covered her eye to stop her from hurting me.‘Please understand Lycia, your mother is just a little short tempered but she doesn’t hate you.’ This was what my father had told me when I was young and had thoroughly been punished by my mother in one of her sudden outbursts. I had always been understanding of it but today it made me question, was that really true?
*LYCIA*My head felt heavy but thankfully the surface that it was placed on was soft and fluffy enough to let the weight sink into it.If possible I would have let my whole body submerge into this familiarly fluffy material but the tiredness that took over my body has been so heavily set into me that I couldn't relax. It was the kind of tiredness that only made you more restless the more you rested.Besides there was something poking in my mind telling me to wake up. I was forgetting something. Something really important but I couldn't for the life of me remember what it was. ‘Wake up Lycia,’ a voice probed my mind, willing me to wake up. I couldn't recognise the voice in my drowsy state but my heart did and I could feel an acceleration in its beating.Who was this person?Suddenly I felt a hand touch my cheek and through my mind's eyes I could see the person calling onto me. Blue eyes, so gently taking me in and painting me in its color. ‘Wake up my mate.’Seff… How could I forget a
*LYCIA*“Lycia! Shh,” Esme whispered in a rush as she pushed me back into my room and stepped in. “She isn't here! I snuck inside.”That made me calm down a little as I let her hug my tired body to give me some warmth and support that I desperately needed.“Oh my goodness what did you do? Are you alright?” She asked, rubbing my back as she stared at the gaping hole in my wall that was glaring at me as if mocking me of the wasted effort I had put on it.“What happened yesterday? Where is Seff?” I asked, trying to pull away from her hug, “Please tell me that he is okay.”“Shh, he is alright. Don't worry about him, he is safe and in my home.” she said, making me release a breath I didn't even know I was holding. He is safe…With some of the stress relieved from my mind I took some control of my mind back as I slowly tried to pull away and tell her that I was alright.Still a little worried, she let me go after a few seconds and deciding on an escape plan I said, “Esme, you are very well
*LYCIA* “What is wrong with you!” The door to my room banged open as my mother's furious face greeted me.Giving her a blank expression of my own I stared at her with contempt brewing in my mind, standing in the middle of the room as I shrugged, “Nothing. Why would you think that? Of course I would be perfectly normal and happy being locked inside my room.”“Don’t try to act over smart with me. What have you done to our backyard? Have you gone crazy?” she asked, stepping inside and closing the door behind her.“Would it even matter? I am sure this is nothing for you,” I said bitterly knowing that what I had said was the truth. It would hardly matter to her since she could clean everything up with a click of her finger.“Of course and that is because I had worked hard to gain these powers instead of fooling around with boys all day like you do,” she said and just as I had predicted she clicked her manicured fingers and all at once the room was returned back to the state it had been be
*LYCIA*When I stepped down I had honestly been blank as to whom I would find waiting for me downstairs but I had to say I had been immensely shocked when I was met with familiar blue eyes. For a second they had made my heart skip a beat. But they weren’t the ones I wanted to see.His brown hair was cleanly set in place unlike how he usually wore it and dressed in a pristine white shirt Travis sat on the long couch looking at me with a smile. My mother and his, sat on single sofa chairs adjacent to it. They had stopped their quiet conversation when I stepped in.“Oh she is here,” Mom said beckoning me with her eyes to step inside the room, “Go on and sit down.”Something was wrong with this setting, I could feel it but I didn’t want to make a scene until I had been sure. I therefore tried to calm my anxious heart as I avoided eye contact with Travis and sat next to him. It’s not that I was scared or embarrassed to see him again but honestly he was just a nuisance to me at this point.
*LYCIA*“I cannot take this anymore! I am leav-” Before I could complete my sentence my mother’s phone rang and picking it up in an instant she paid no attention to my words making me feel more embarrassed and hurt. Was a phone call from someone else more important than listening to the feelings of her daughter?“What? No, you did right. I’ll see to it. Thank you for informing me,” she said to the caller on the other side, stepping out towards the window of the living room. She stared out of it for a moment and then turning around she looked at me and said, “I understand Lycia that you feel hurt because I hid such a big decision from you but I really want you to reconsider what I had said before. I know the way I went about this wasn’t right but whatever I had said earlier was true and you know it too. Travis will be your best option.”“Absolutely. My son is strong with his warlock powers and adept to handle and help you as the queen. Besides, he looks quite handsome too,” Mrs. Jennek
*LYCIA*“I need to stop her,” I murmured to myself getting away from the window and going back towards my door. Rattling the knob I try to open it, chanting and repeatedly in my head that I needed to stop my mother from hurting Seff.“What are you doing? You know it’s useless,” Travis said making me stop for a second. His words ticked my brain and turning only slightly to look at him over my shoulder I glared at him.“If you are going to help me then say something or keep your fucking mouth shut,” I bit out my words making him look away and understanding that he wouldn’t help me I turned back to try again on my own.Banging on the door a few more times I knew it was useless since it had been made with thick sturdy wood that my normal human strength wouldn’t be enough to break down. I am sure Seff would have easily torn down this door for me, if only he could get to me.Taking a step back, deciding that I would rather injure myself than let my mother injure Seff I mustered my magic onc
