I closed my eyes, scared that the fire beneath my skin would burn me to a crisp.

When I woke up again, I was in a bath of water and steam was rising all around me.

“Arnou?” I called out in confusion as my vision cleared.

“Yes, Daciana, are you okay? I was so worried.” Arnou said in a rush as he came with a bucket of cold water and poured it into the steaming bath.

I blushed hard when I realized what had happened.

I had gone into heat and Eva had rushed Arnou.

“Oh my gosh. Don't even speak to me. I'm mortified.” I groaned with my face in my hands.

“Hey, come on. You don't need to be embarrassed in front of me. We're getting married soon, remember?” Arnou said with a small smile as he sat on the edge of the bathtub and splashed some cold water on my hair.

“Yeah well, you're not the one who was begging me to mate with you,” I whispered as I raised my head from my hands and stared at him.
