JAREK I ran from the dungeon like a coward with my tail tucked between my legs. She vowed that she would kill me and I have no doubt that she would make good on that promise now that she had her powers back. But that is the one thing that I do not understand. How did she get her magical abilities back when her powers were bound by the runes on her arms? I reach the stop of the stairs and lock the door of the dungeons behind me. She might be able to get out of her cell but there is no way she would get through the main dungeon door. She may be powerful but I don't think she is that powerful. The pack house is in chaos with people running in every direction trying to get ready for evacuation. My father and I know that not everyone will be able to leave in time but that is a risk that we were going to have to take. Our sources told us that the King's Royal Guard is almost at the outskirts of our borders. They will be upon us within a few hours. Rushing into my father's offi
WARD Just like I was ordered, I ran ahead to the Crescent Moon Pack. I would arrive an hour before the rest of the Royal Guard and get the Princess to safety before the fighting begins. I easily slipped through the border surrounding the Crescent Moon Pack. None of their guards are protecting their border any longer. It is wide open. They must be preparing for war. Hiding amongst the trees on the border of the pack I mind link the King. 'Your Highness?' 'What is it Ward?' The King mind links me back. 'I think the pack has mobilized their warriors. There is no one guarding the borders.' I inform him. 'They were fucking tipped off,' the King growls loudly in my head. Get to my daughter before they run with her. 'Yes, Your Highness,' I say before I cut the link between us and move silently through the trees. The back of the Crescent Moon pack house is nothing but dense forest. That is how I plan on getting close. I expected to run into more obstacles but no on
KEENAThe smell of antiseptic fills my nostrils and I inhale deeply. The smell is so much cleaner and less potent than the horrible smells of the dungeon. My eyes fly open when I realize that I am no longer in the dungeon. The bright light of the room I am in blinds my eyes as they open and I raise my hand to shield myself from the light. My eyes slowly adjust to the new room around me. I am in a white room and my family is sitting quietly by my side. Faris is sitting beside my bed holding my hand with tears streaming down his face. "I thought Kings didn't cry," I say. My voice is hoarse and painful as I speak. "Keena," Faris gasps loudly as he wipes the tears from his cheeks. He jumps from his seat and engulfs me in a hug. I wrap my arms tightly around him. I cannot remember the last time that he actually hugged me. My mother and father quickly get to their feet and surround my bed. Wiping my hair out of my face my mother places a kiss on my forehead while my fathe
KEENA"I think we should take her to see Ward," my mother says softly and my heart starts beating hard in my chest. "I am not sure that she is ready for that." I can tell that my father is dead set on me going to see Ward. "And I think it would be good for her," my mother retorts, giving my father the death glare. Faris wheels a wheelchair into the room and looks at the tension between our parents. He lets out a sigh and clears his throat so our parents turn to look at him. "I am going to take her to see Ward," he says confidently. A low growl escapes my fathers chest as he turns his attention toward Faris. "She isn't ready to see that," he snarls. "He is her person," Faris says with a frown on his face. "I wouldn't want someone to keep me from my mate or my person." I look at Faris and whisper a "thank you" under my breath. Faris gives me a little wink and offers me his hand to help me out of the hospital bed. My father doesn't say a word while Faris helps me into
KEENAI don't know how long I have been holding onto Ward's hand and talking to him. Nurses have come in and out of the room several times to take his vitals. Each time they give me a pitiful stare as I ask several questions about how he is doing. I am given the same answer every time. I am told that they are doing all that they can and we have to wait for his lycan to awaken so he can begin to heal correctly. Each time I am told the same answers I get more and more frustrated. I cannot help but think that they are keeping things from me. My head is lying on the edge of Ward's bed while I hold his hand. I fight the urge to doze off. I want to be awake when he wakes up. The door to his hospital room opens slowly and I can hear someone walking in but I refuse to take my eyes off of Ward to see who it is. "Princess," Ward's doctor says gently, "you need to rest as well. You are still healing too." "I want to be here when he wakes up," I say, not taking my eyes off of Ward
WARDI am surrounded by darkness. I try to look around but I cannot see anything. The last thing I remember is collapsing on the ground with Keena in my arms. She had passed out from the smoke and I was begging her to wake up. Then a blinding light encompassed me and I can only assume that it was the flames burning against my skin as I tried to protect Keena from the fire in the Crescent Moon pack house. I must be dead. But if I am dead, why am I not standing in front of the Moon Goddess? Why am I not in the afterlife? This cannot be what death is like. As I stand alone in the darkness I can hear the sound of muffled voices speaking loudly around me but I cannot make out what they are saying. I strain my ears to try and understand what is being said but it is of no use. Glancing around myself I try to see what direction the voices are coming from but it is impossibly dark and I cannot see. I call for my lycan to come forward to help me but he is nowhere to be found. I
KEENA"Careful," I hiss at Ward as he climbs the stairs in the pack house. Ward turns several shades of red as he looks in my direction. "Princess, I am doing much better," he says. I roll my eyes as Ward limps pitifully up the stairs. The tough guy show that he is putting on for everyone else isn't fooling me. Even though the burns are healing on his body he still doesn't have much strength. Though he won't admit it his lycan still hasn't awoken since he inhaled all of the wolfsbane the night of fire. When the doctors released him today I tried to argue with the doctor that he needed to stay longer but my pleas were ignored. The doctor thought that Ward would heal faster in the comfort of his own home. It didn't matter how much I grumbled or fought, I was out numbered. My family agreed that it was best for Ward to return to the pack house as well. Ward slowly limps his way to his bedroom and I run to stop him. "You are staying with me," I tell him as I lead him toward
Ward I stand frozen where I stand. I have not seen my parents in several years. What are they doing here now? "Mom? Dad?" I look at them in shock. "What are you doing here?" My mother runs to me and wraps her arms around me in a giant hug. "You missed our monthly phone call. When we called looking for you we were told that you were injured on a mission to save the Princess." Tears are streaming down my mother's face. "This is why we didn't want you to join the guard. It is dangerous." "Mom," I sigh as I peel her off of me. "I am fine." Keena awkwardly clears her throat and all of our eyes move to her. "I should probably leave," she says as she gets to her feet. "Nonsense," my mother says with her arms outstretched ready to give Keena a hug. Hesitantly Keena lets my mother wrap her arms around her and my mother pats her back. She holds Keena at arm's length and looks her over. "I am Gloria and that is my husband Gerald." "It is nice to meet you," Keena say

Willow POV Faris's body floats to the middle of Lycan City Lake, just like his father before him and his grandfather before that. Horns play loudly, signifying the beginning of the lighting ceremony. I watch from a distance as the leader of the Royal Guard raises his hand in the air, and three archers light the tips of their arrows with flames. The leader lowers his hand, and the arrows fly into the air before hitting their mark. As Faris's body is engulfed in flames, I find myself shedding a tear. Not for the man Faris was at the end of his life, but for the man he was before I became his assassin. The uncle who would sneak me out of my house with his mate and feed me ice cream before dinner. The uncle who never missed a school event and treated me like his own flesh and blood even though I was not. Liz pulls at my black dress and looks up at me with her bright green eyes. "Are you okay?" She whispers, pulling my attention away from the end of my uncle's ceremony. "I'm
Willow POV As I watch Endora’s ashes fly away, the runes on my back begin to burn. It feels like someone has poured salt on an open wound. I drop to my knees and claw at my skin through my shirt. My mother and Cordelia rush to my side, ripping my shirt off my body. I look at the runes on my arms, and they are glowing bright red. “What is happening?” I cry out in pain. “Since Endora has been killed, your link to the Coven of the Lunar Star is broken,” Cordelia tries to smile even though I am in pain. “The magical bindings they put on your skin are breaking down.” “They are disappearing?” I ask as I attempt to get to my feet, but my knees buckle under my weight. Exhaustion has finally caught up with me. Wincing through the pain, I look at Faris lying beside me. His face looks peaceful like he is sleeping. I look around me, and all of the fighting has stopped. Faris’s Royal guards must have felt this tether to the pack break when he died. Now they are all on bended knee
Willow POV My two-hour training session turned into five hours. By the time Cordelia is done with me, my arms feel like jello. My feet drag as I walk from the training area back to the farmhouse. I am exhausted, and I cannot wait to crawl into bed for a few hours before Osiris wakes me. As I approach the farmhouse, my heart sinks. A group of rogue warriors is already gathered outside of the farmhouse. Osiris is standing on the porch giving them a speech. When he sees me, he raises his hand and gestures for me to join him. Mumbling obscenities under my breath as I approach Osiris, I realize I am not getting my nap. Plastering a fake smile on my face, I stand beside Osiris. Osiris wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me in close to him. My fake smile turns into a real one as I feel the tingles of the mate bond spread throughout my skin. Osiris's shoulders relax as I nuzzle into his side. He wraps his arm tightly around my waist and continues his speech. "We were att
Faris POV I leave Natacha sleeping in my bed. Her new mark shimmers under the morning light shining into the room. I had expected her mark to match the one I had given Kayla, but it is different. A beautiful rose blooming under a full moon now resides on her neck. Natacha had been more than willing to accept my mark. The lovemaking between us had been patient and gentle. I was worried about hurting the pup that grows within her. But when it came time for Natacha to mark me in return, I couldn't let it happen. It felt too much like I was replacing Kayla. Natacha pretended she understood, but I could feel her pain through the bond between us. She was disappointed. Pulling on a pair of sweats and a t-shirt, I head into the office that adjoins my bedroom. Sitting down at my desk, I begin to make plans on when and how to attack the rogue camp. But my heart isn't in it. Now that I know I have an heir, nothing else seems to matter. It all feels petty. "Why shouldn't I let
Willow POV After much negotiation with the doctor, he finally agrees to let me leave the hospital. The wound on my neck is almost healed. I have not been brave enough to look at it. I don't want to see the damage that Osiris has done to me. After taking a shower in the tiny hospital bathroom, I open the bag of clothes that Osiris brought me from the farmhouse. I roll my eyes when I see a pair of bright red lace panties and a matching bra. Sticking my head out of the bathroom, I hiss at Osiris. "You couldn't have brought something more comfortable?" There is a mischievous grin on his face. "They looked comfortable to me," he chuckles. I shut the door in frustration, and I begin to pull on the leather pants and black t-shirt. I pull my hair up into a ponytail and walk back out into the hospital room. But there is no one in there. I peek out of my hospital room and see nurses and doctors frantically running toward the entrance of the hospital. I can hear the sounds of
Faris POV It is the wee hours of the morning when I finally return to the royal mansion, but the mansion is already buzzing with activity. I quietly slip past all of the Omegas who have already started their morning chores. I go upstairs and past the room that Natacha is staying in. Her scent of lavender and roses is wafting through the door. She barely smells like a rogue anymore, and I wonder if it is because she is carrying my child. Slowly, I turn the doorknob, and I am surprised to find it is unlocked. The door opens with a slight creek, causing me to cringe. I consider walking away, but curiosity draws me further into her room. Natacha is sleeping peacefully. I have to admit she is beautiful. Not as beautiful as my Kayla, but still beautiful nonetheless. Tiny puffs of breath leave her full lips as she sleeps. She is sleeping in an oversized t-shirt. A smile crosses my lips when I realize the t-shirt is one I had left behind at her apartment. The t-shirt has ridd
Osiris POV Ella grabs my hand and teleports back to the hospital. The wind swirls in the sky as the witch sisters appear out of nowhere beside us. I am unsteady on my feet as the world comes back into focus. "I don't think I will ever get used to that," I grumble as I choke back the vomit rising in my throat. "You will get used to it over time," Ella says as she gently rubs my back. I shrug off Ella's hand and turn to the four witches. "We don't have time to lose," I say. "We need to get to Willow." Once I have regained my balance, I head into the hospital with the witches following behind me. As we walk through the halls, people scatter away from me and the women walking with me. Whispers follow us through the corridors. Many of my pack members have not seen so many witches together in one place, and their eyes follow us as we make our way to Willow's hospital room. As we approach Willow's room, the doctor is waiting for us. He looks the witches up and down before o
Faris POV Natacha follows me into the royal mansion, keeping her head down. As we walk through the mansion, I can hear the whispers coming from the Omega servants. They are wondering why I have willingly brought a rogue into Lycan City. My personal Omega, Jessica, is leaving my bedroom when I reach the top floor of the royal mansion. Her face blushes deeply when she looks at me but quickly disappears when she lays eyes on Natacha. Jessica's nose wrinkles as she catches Natacha's rogue scent, and a scowl tugs at her lips. "How can I help you, Your Highness?" Jessica says with a fake smile spread across her face. "This is my close friend, Natacha. I need you to set her up in the room next to mine," I instruct Jessica. Jessica doesn't try to hide her displeasure at the thought of a rogue staying within the royal mansion, but still, she gestures for Natacha to follow her down the hall. Natacha hesitates to follow the young Omega. "Are you coming with me?" She asks nervou
