WARD

Alpha Cleo and I stare at one another for a long time. There is something that is familiar about her that I just cannot place. Her hazel eyes pierce into mine as she throws her Alpha aura over the room. She is trying to get me to submit but it isn't working.

"You know me?" I ask ignoring the aura that has flooded the room.

Alpha Cleo reigns in her aura and cocks her head to the side staring at me in curiosity. "I think I know you," she finally says. “Amir here thinks you may be my brother.”

I laugh loudly and turn toward Amir. "Are you saying that you think I am of Alpha blood?" The thought alone is absurd.

Getting to her feet, Alpha Cleo gestures for Amir and me to follow her out of her office. "There is only one way to tell," she says as we approach the elevator. "A DNA test will be run. Until we have the results I am afraid that you will have to stay in the dungeons."

"I did not come here for your title or your rank," I say in desperation. "I just cam

KEENA Sitting in my father's office I don't take my eyes off the, so called, bodyguard that my father has appointed to me. The tension in the air is thick as we all glare at one another. I take this moment to take in the royal guard that is standing beside my father. He has long blond hair that is pulled into a low bun at the base of his neck. His eyes are crystal blue in color and they twinkle as they bore into my own. He couldn't be more different than Ward. Ward would have never dared to look at me in such a way. "This isn't going to work out," I finally break the silence in the room. "I don't need a new bodyguard." "Keena," my father sighs my name in frustration. "It is only until Ward comes back." "What is the point in having Faris teach me how to protect myself, if you are just going to assign me a bodyguard?" I snap at my father. "When you can prove that you can protect yourself, we will reconsider. But as of right now Jameson is going to be your new gu

KEENA The gold and silver cuffs feel cold against my skin, they do not burn. It just solidifies the fact that I am a human once again. The cuffs are connected to chains that hold me to the ground. I look around the circular room and it is still a disaster. The pentagram in the center of the floor is cracked and no longer complete. The once-stained glass windows surrounding the room are shattered and the shards of glass are still on the floor. I can't believe that I caused that much destruction in a single moment. "You were once extremely powerful," the High Priestess says with a smirk on her face. "Now you are nothing more than a human once again. If only you had this." The High Priestess holds up the amulet and I can feel the power within it pulsating through the air. It is almost like the power within the amulet is calling out to me. "I can feel the power within the amulet but I don't know how to release it." The High Priestess looks at the amulet with a mesmeriz

  • The Lycan King's Rejected Daughter   Chapter 130

WARD I don’t know how long I have been down in the dungeons of the Kingdom of Anubis, but it feels like I have been down here for days. There is no natural light that comes into the dungeon, so I cannot feel the passing of time. The dungeons are dark except for a few lights in the hallway that buzz loudly constantly. The sound alone is its own form of punishment. The silver cuffs on my wrist are beginning to burn into my wrists. My skin is getting raw and blood begins to trickle down my wrists. I try to move the cuffs from rubbing the same spot but the silver stings my fingers as I try to slip them underneath the cuffs. The sound of moans comes from the cell next door. The guards visit him several times a day to torture him. I do not know what kind of information they are trying to get out of him but they are getting nowhere with him. The smell of his burning flesh fills the air, it smells so disgusting that it makes my stomach turn. “Why don’t you just give them the

WARD The paper on the hospital bed crinkles loudly under my shifting weight. Alpha Cleo’s hazel eyes are slowly turning black, her lycan is pushing forward. There is a snarl on her lips as she glares in my direction. I open my mouth to speak but Alpha Cleo growls loudly and I quickly shut my mouth. “Before you speak. Choose your words carefully,” she threatens. I inhale and exhale several times trying to control my emotions. “It is a long story,” I begin. “I have all day,” Alpha Cleo says through gritted teeth. So, I start at the beginning and I tell her everything. I explain how I was pulled off the streets of an Egyptian city as a child and how I was led to believe that I was orphaned. I explain how Keena is my mate and how the Moon Goddess let her choose her own destiny by choosing her own mate. I tell Alpha Cleo about the witches and how they were first after my mate and now they are after me. Alpha Cleo stands quietly as I recall everything that has happene

KEENA The bindings around my wrists and ankles cut into my flesh as I try to wiggle free. My teeth grind against the cloth that has been placed in my mouth and tears stream down my cheeks. I know that I need to get out of here before the High Priestess comes back. I don’t know how many more experiments I can take. The High Priestess is convinced that I am the key to unlocking the magic that is trapped within the amulet. Every time that I fail to awaken its power I am subjected to some sort of torture. I have lost count of how many days I have been locked in this room and tied to this chair. There is a single window in my prison. I was counting the rise and fall of the moon but I have lost count of how many days I have been here. It is not like it matters anyway, I know that time passes differently within the coven. I could have been here for weeks or months, or as little as a few days. I try to keep my wits about me but with each passing of the moon, I can feel myself

WARD I lie on the floor, writhing in pain. I close my eyes and try to focus on anything but the fire that feels like it is encompassing my body. My claws extend from my fingertips and I dig them into my skin trying to stop the burning pain. “What is happening,” I say through gritted teeth. Alpha Cleo, Amir, and Gladys look down at me with shocked looks on their faces. Grabbing Gladys by her shoulders Amir pulls her away from me. Obviously scared that I am going to do something to hurt her. “I told you we should have kept the cuffs on him,” Amir says as pushes Gladys behind me. The pain subsides for a moment. My claws retract back on their own and I lay on the floor of the hospital room breathing heavily in and out. Approaching me carefully, Alpha Cleo bends down by my side. Turning my head to the side she runs her finger over the mark that lies on my neck. As she touches the mark more pain radiates through my body. “I think you may be feeling the pain that your

WARD After hanging up the phone call with Faris, I had the phone back to Cleo. She is chewing on her bottom lip, deep in thought. “What are you thinking?” I ask her curiously. “I am thinking about how we can find your mate,” she says absentmindedly. Cleo begins to pace the floor of her living room. She is mumbling something under her breath that I cannot quite make out. It is as if she is trying to talk herself into whatever plan she has formulated in her mind. I take a step in front of her to stop her pacing. “Tell me what you are thinking,” I say to her. “There is a witch in the dungeons that has the ability of sight,” Cleo tells me. “She has not been treated well.” “Do you think that she would be willing to help me?” I cannot hide the desperation in my voice. “Since we have taken her into custody, the only thing that she has said is that one day I will come to her for help when you return to the Kingdom,” Cleo tells me. “I swore to her that I would never

WARDThe stench of the dungeons stings my nose as the elevator doors open. I don’t think it will ever be a smell that I get used to. As Cleo leads me past all of the cells, I watch as the prisoners shrink back into the corners of their cells in fear. Cleo may look kind and friendly but I have a feeling that she runs a tight ship. The prisoners seem to be so scared of her that they refuse to lift their eyes from the ground to look in her direction. As we walk past all of the cells the light in the dungeon becomes dimmer and dimmer, until we are in a place where there is only darkness. My lycan vision adjusts to the darkness and I am able to see clearly but to a human or a witch, it would be almost pitch black. I look around and see several cells that are filled with elderly ladies. Their skin is pale from being in the darkness for so long. Our footsteps echo in the silence of the dungeon. As the women hear our steps they raise their heads and squint into the darkness. Seve

  • The Lycan King's Rejected Daughter   Book 2: Chapter 81

Willow POV Faris's body floats to the middle of Lycan City Lake, just like his father before him and his grandfather before that. Horns play loudly, signifying the beginning of the lighting ceremony. I watch from a distance as the leader of the Royal Guard raises his hand in the air, and three archers light the tips of their arrows with flames. The leader lowers his hand, and the arrows fly into the air before hitting their mark. As Faris's body is engulfed in flames, I find myself shedding a tear. Not for the man Faris was at the end of his life, but for the man he was before I became his assassin. The uncle who would sneak me out of my house with his mate and feed me ice cream before dinner. The uncle who never missed a school event and treated me like his own flesh and blood even though I was not. Liz pulls at my black dress and looks up at me with her bright green eyes. "Are you okay?" She whispers, pulling my attention away from the end of my uncle's ceremony. "I'm

Willow POV As I watch Endora’s ashes fly away, the runes on my back begin to burn. It feels like someone has poured salt on an open wound. I drop to my knees and claw at my skin through my shirt. My mother and Cordelia rush to my side, ripping my shirt off my body. I look at the runes on my arms, and they are glowing bright red. “What is happening?” I cry out in pain. “Since Endora has been killed, your link to the Coven of the Lunar Star is broken,” Cordelia tries to smile even though I am in pain. “The magical bindings they put on your skin are breaking down.” “They are disappearing?” I ask as I attempt to get to my feet, but my knees buckle under my weight. Exhaustion has finally caught up with me. Wincing through the pain, I look at Faris lying beside me. His face looks peaceful like he is sleeping. I look around me, and all of the fighting has stopped. Faris’s Royal guards must have felt this tether to the pack break when he died. Now they are all on bended knee

Willow POV My two-hour training session turned into five hours. By the time Cordelia is done with me, my arms feel like jello. My feet drag as I walk from the training area back to the farmhouse. I am exhausted, and I cannot wait to crawl into bed for a few hours before Osiris wakes me. As I approach the farmhouse, my heart sinks. A group of rogue warriors is already gathered outside of the farmhouse. Osiris is standing on the porch giving them a speech. When he sees me, he raises his hand and gestures for me to join him. Mumbling obscenities under my breath as I approach Osiris, I realize I am not getting my nap. Plastering a fake smile on my face, I stand beside Osiris. Osiris wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me in close to him. My fake smile turns into a real one as I feel the tingles of the mate bond spread throughout my skin. Osiris's shoulders relax as I nuzzle into his side. He wraps his arm tightly around my waist and continues his speech. "We were att

Faris POV I leave Natacha sleeping in my bed. Her new mark shimmers under the morning light shining into the room. I had expected her mark to match the one I had given Kayla, but it is different. A beautiful rose blooming under a full moon now resides on her neck. Natacha had been more than willing to accept my mark. The lovemaking between us had been patient and gentle. I was worried about hurting the pup that grows within her. But when it came time for Natacha to mark me in return, I couldn't let it happen. It felt too much like I was replacing Kayla. Natacha pretended she understood, but I could feel her pain through the bond between us. She was disappointed. Pulling on a pair of sweats and a t-shirt, I head into the office that adjoins my bedroom. Sitting down at my desk, I begin to make plans on when and how to attack the rogue camp. But my heart isn't in it. Now that I know I have an heir, nothing else seems to matter. It all feels petty. "Why shouldn't I let

  • The Lycan King's Rejected Daughter   Book 2: Chapter 77

Willow POV After much negotiation with the doctor, he finally agrees to let me leave the hospital. The wound on my neck is almost healed. I have not been brave enough to look at it. I don't want to see the damage that Osiris has done to me. After taking a shower in the tiny hospital bathroom, I open the bag of clothes that Osiris brought me from the farmhouse. I roll my eyes when I see a pair of bright red lace panties and a matching bra. Sticking my head out of the bathroom, I hiss at Osiris. "You couldn't have brought something more comfortable?" There is a mischievous grin on his face. "They looked comfortable to me," he chuckles. I shut the door in frustration, and I begin to pull on the leather pants and black t-shirt. I pull my hair up into a ponytail and walk back out into the hospital room. But there is no one in there. I peek out of my hospital room and see nurses and doctors frantically running toward the entrance of the hospital. I can hear the sounds of

Faris POV It is the wee hours of the morning when I finally return to the royal mansion, but the mansion is already buzzing with activity. I quietly slip past all of the Omegas who have already started their morning chores. I go upstairs and past the room that Natacha is staying in. Her scent of lavender and roses is wafting through the door. She barely smells like a rogue anymore, and I wonder if it is because she is carrying my child. Slowly, I turn the doorknob, and I am surprised to find it is unlocked. The door opens with a slight creek, causing me to cringe. I consider walking away, but curiosity draws me further into her room. Natacha is sleeping peacefully. I have to admit she is beautiful. Not as beautiful as my Kayla, but still beautiful nonetheless. Tiny puffs of breath leave her full lips as she sleeps. She is sleeping in an oversized t-shirt. A smile crosses my lips when I realize the t-shirt is one I had left behind at her apartment. The t-shirt has ridd

Osiris POV Ella grabs my hand and teleports back to the hospital. The wind swirls in the sky as the witch sisters appear out of nowhere beside us. I am unsteady on my feet as the world comes back into focus. "I don't think I will ever get used to that," I grumble as I choke back the vomit rising in my throat. "You will get used to it over time," Ella says as she gently rubs my back. I shrug off Ella's hand and turn to the four witches. "We don't have time to lose," I say. "We need to get to Willow." Once I have regained my balance, I head into the hospital with the witches following behind me. As we walk through the halls, people scatter away from me and the women walking with me. Whispers follow us through the corridors. Many of my pack members have not seen so many witches together in one place, and their eyes follow us as we make our way to Willow's hospital room. As we approach Willow's room, the doctor is waiting for us. He looks the witches up and down before o

Faris POV Natacha follows me into the royal mansion, keeping her head down. As we walk through the mansion, I can hear the whispers coming from the Omega servants. They are wondering why I have willingly brought a rogue into Lycan City. My personal Omega, Jessica, is leaving my bedroom when I reach the top floor of the royal mansion. Her face blushes deeply when she looks at me but quickly disappears when she lays eyes on Natacha. Jessica's nose wrinkles as she catches Natacha's rogue scent, and a scowl tugs at her lips. "How can I help you, Your Highness?" Jessica says with a fake smile spread across her face. "This is my close friend, Natacha. I need you to set her up in the room next to mine," I instruct Jessica. Jessica doesn't try to hide her displeasure at the thought of a rogue staying within the royal mansion, but still, she gestures for Natacha to follow her down the hall. Natacha hesitates to follow the young Omega. "Are you coming with me?" She asks nervou
