"Run, Elara, Run!''

I jolted up in a thick sweat, sitting up caused a sudden blinding pain at the back of my head. I winced as I tried to refocus my sight on my surroundings. That voice was my mother's. I'd had nightmares about the day she left. i tried to forget them and move on, but every moment I live pondering on the tragedy of my life is a stark reminder of how unlucky I am.

"Don't get up too quickly. Your wounds are healing, but slowly.'' The sound of a man, a voice, reached out from around. I turned, but I still felt so dizzy that I could barely keep my head up. My sight was blurry, I had a terrible headache.

"My baby..'' I touched my stomach as I tried to stay awake. I could see a figure walking up to me. I felt scared.

"Rest.'' the voice said, "Both you and your miracle baby will be fine.'' Someone touched my shoulders as they pushed me down. I tried to fight it, but was too weak. I slowly lost consciousness, falling back into that sleep that felt like a prison.

Author Matthew Gale

I have pondered on introducing the Ml's POV a while, I'm still undecided on whether or not to do it. If I do, it will be a once in a while occasion. About one ML POV in about 20 or so chapters. As a reader, do you think it would flow with the tone of the story or will it destroy the flow and the ML's character by showing his point of view?

"You're healed!'' He said, more to himself than me. He raised a brow, seeming suprised."I didn't think I'd survive that.'' I laughed, trying to ease the akward silence. He looked down at me as he finished taking off the remaining of the bandaid on my head. "The injuries are all gone, it's like there were never there. The trauma to your head is well head and only clotted blood remains, but you can easily was that off when you're feeling better.'' He smiled, he set the bandages as he moved back. "Here, you might be thirsty.''I took the bowl of water and drank from it. All the while he was just staring at me. "Your baby, how do you feel about having so much power?'' "Power?'' I handed back the bowl. "Well yeah, carrying a Lycan in your womb amplies your own wolf abilities. It's a thank you from mother nature i guess.'' "A thank you for what?'' I sat up, feeling more comfortable. "For banging a beast.'' he laughed. "Hey! That's my mate you're taking about.'' I playfully hit his arm

Lucas's POVI'm drowning in the anger I feel. It wraps around my chest like a snake, getting tighter with every second. I tremble with my hands, but it's not because I'm afraid. I have no fear. I have never felt fear towards anything. No, this shaking is actually a much more severe emotion-sorrow. The empty feeling that consumes me due to her absence.Elara.My mate. I never realized how much I needed her until she was taken away from me.How did I allow this to occur? As the Lycan Alpha of the most powerful pack, how could I let my mate be taken? The solution is straightforward: I was overly fixated on my authority, my superiority, my command. Currently, I am losing control, it's slipping away like sand.I strike my fist against the wall next to me, sensing the stone break under the impact. It is insufficient. I have an unstoppable rage burning inside me that nothing can extinguish.Behind me, a door opens with a creaking sound. Aurelio, my beta, enters the poorly lit room. He quick

I gaze at my hands, the blood fresh on my skin. I've killed many times before-maybe not just once or twice, but now it feels like something has changed. The usual exhilaration I feel when breaking a neck, when bones crack in my hands, is absent. I ought to experience contentment. However, there is a void consuming me, scratching at me internally, and endangering to tear me to pieces.Elara, the name.I remember her name and my chest becomes tense. I prefer not to dwell on her. I don't want to experience whatever this is. What is love? Negative. I am not in love. I do not form emotional connections. Since she was captured, I have been feeling confused and directionless.I strike the chair beside me, shattering the wooden legs with my boot. That was a satisfying feeling. However, it doesn't last. I hit the wall again, this time with more force, causing my knuckles to split open and blood to trickle down my hand. No progress yet. The pain fails to mute the sense of losing control."Where

Flashback - Lucas' First Shift Lucas' POVI was fifteen, listening to my father’s laughter coming from the dinner where the other Lycan families had come to visit. I admired my father. I wanted to be like him. He was tough, feared, respected, and a leader. I sat on the cold, hard ground, my eyes fixed on the darkening sky. The full moon would rise soon. My heart raced, partly because of the impending shift, but mostly because of her. Emma."Emma smiled at me today," I said softly, glancing at my little sister, Mara. I felt heat creep up my neck, but I couldn't help it. Emma had been on my mind all day, and I had to tell someone. "I think she might like me."Mara snickered, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Emma? The werewolf girl?" She leaned closer, jabbing me in the ribs with her elbow. "You've got a crush on a *werewolf*? Oh, Lucas, I'm telling Dad."My body went rigid. "You wouldn't," I said, my voice tight with worry.Mara giggled, throwing her hands up in mock surrender. "Oka

I look at the mirror on the far wall, cracked from when I’d thrown something earlier. My reflection stares back at me—wild, bloodshot eyes, blood smeared across my face and hands. I barely recognize myself anymore. Who the hell am I without her?I’d worked years to keep my beast under control. I’d gotten to where I was, but now, all it takes is one woman to unravel everything. How much power does she have over me? I walk over to the mirror, my fists clenched so tight my knuckles are white. Every time I look at myself, I feel disgust. Weak. Pathetic. I’m supposed to be a king, in control of my beast. Yet, it feels like where Elara is involved, I loose it. "I never needed her," I mutter, trying to convince myself. "She’s nothing. Just a pawn in this game. I’ll find her, and then I’ll be done with her. I just want my miracle baby."But even as the words leave my lips, I know they’re a lie. She’s more than that now. I can’t admit it, but the truth is there, eating away at me like a dise

Lucas’ POVThe interrogation room reeked of blood and sweat. The metallic scent clung to my skin as if it was trying to remind me of who I am—what I am. David was still slumped over in his chair, unconscious but alive. Wolves heal fast, but this particular wolf wouldn’t be able to stand for a while. Not after what I’d done to him.I looked down at my bloodstained hands, frowning slightly before rubbing them together as if I could erase the evidence of my cruelty. It was easy to lose myself in these moments, to become the monster everyone expected me to be. It came naturally, the rage, the violence. But not today.A soft knock at the door broke my thoughts. The sound was hesitant, as if the person on the other side wasn’t sure whether they should disturb me or not.“Aurelio,” I called, knowing instinctively that it was him. He always knocked like that—polite but cautious.I opened the door, finding him standing straight and alert, his usual demeanor, though there was a weariness in his

Lucas’ POVThe scent of blood filled the air. Metallic, sharp, it clung to the walls of the dungeon like a thick fog. I stood outside David’s cell, the heavy door was slightly ajar. I could already hear his shallow breathing, I could smell the fear coming from him. .This wasn’t the first time I had interrogated a traitor, but this was different. David had been one of my most trusted soldiers, a pack member who had fought for our survival, bled for us. Yet here I was, ready to rip his secrets out piece by piece, to uncover the truth by any means necessary. A truth he was clearly hiding.Aurelio stood behind me, his face impassive, awaiting my command to begin. I stepped forward, pushing the door open. The hinges groaned, a sound that mirrored the weight of what was about to unfold. David sat in the middle of the cold stone room, his wrists chained above his head to the ceiling, his feet barely touching the ground. His face was swollen, already bruised from the earlier "talks" we’d ha

  • The Lycan King's Omega Mate   Chapter 35

Lucas’ POVI’ve never been one to watch someone sleep. In fact, I haven’t had any peaceful sleep since my first shift. Each time I close my eyes, I see Emma. I hear my father’s words, the lessons he hammered into me for years: *Strength is survival. Emotions are weak. Weakness gets you killed.* Tonight was no different. Sleep wasn’t an option, but for the first time in a long while, I felt... still.I sat on the sofa in my bedroom, watching my mate, Elara, sleep until the first light of dawn crept through the curtains. The steady rise and fall of her chest, the soft murmur of her breath—it all seemed so foreign to me. Her face was peaceful, completely at ease. It was a kind of peace I’d never known. But I wasn’t built for peace. My world was chaos, constantly shifting, and no matter how calm the moment seemed, I always expected the worst. That’s how I survived.A knock at the door snapped me out of my thoughts. I stood, careful not to disturb Elara, and made my way over. I opened the

Elara's POV Lucas gently guided me into our bedroom. I felt relieved being with him. His hand never left my back, guiding my every step. It’s as if he was scared I’d disappear on him. I glanced up at Lucas. He looked as strong, muscular and handsome as ever, but there was something softer in his expression—something I hadn’t seen in a long time. His eyes met mine, and in that moment, I realized how much I needed him. Not as the Alpha who commanded respect, but as the man who held my heart, who could make me feel safe when the world was falling apart around me. I sank down onto the edge of the bed, my body aching with exhaustion. The soft mattress beneath me felt like heaven, but even as I sat there, my mind was racing. The day had been filled with too many close calls, too much fear. But now, being here, in our space, with Lucas beside me, I could feel the weight of everything starting to lift. Lucas lingered by the door for a moment, his gaze locked on me, as if making sure I

  • The Lycan King's Omega Mate   CHAPTER 33

The moment I laid eyes on Elara, my heart nearly stopped. She was trembling in Sabrina's grip, her face pale and her eyes wide with fear. Seeing my mate in such distress was like a knife to my chest. My breath hitched, and a primal urge surged through me—a desperate need to protect her from whatever nightmare she had just endured.Without hesitation, I stepped forward, my gaze fixed on the scene unfolding before me. David lay on the ground, a spear protruding from his torso, his life slowly ebbing away as blood pooled beneath him. The coppery scent of it filled the cave, making the air feel thick and suffocating. Elara’s desperate, trembling pleas for help cut through the tension like a blade, her voice barely holding together under the weight of her fear. Every fiber of my being screamed at me to do something, to act quickly before I lost control."Don't touch him," I commanded, my voice cold, hard, cutting through the air like a whip. Sabrina froze, her hand hovering over the spear,

Instead, a sudden force shoved me sideways, and I stumbled, barely keeping my balance. Whirling around, I saw David standing where I had been, the spear embedded in his chest . He crumpled to the ground, his eyes wide with pain."David!" I cried, rushing to his side. "Why did you do that?"David grimaced, his breaths coming in ragged gasps. "I couldn't let him...kill you," he whispered, blood seeping through his fingers as he clutched the spear.Michael, his face twisted with rage, lunged forward, intent on finishing what he'd started. But before he could reach us, Alaric and Sabrina sprang into action. In a blur of movement, Alaric had Michael pinned to the ground, one massive hand wrapped around his throat."You dare attack my son's mate?" Alaric growled, his voice laden with menace. "That was a mistake you won't live
