Book Two : It's Not a Coincidence

“Luna?” the kids called out to me as I smiled weakly at them, getting up from the chair where I was sitting watching over them after that incident with Charlotte.

“Yes, love?” I said, trying to fake a smile as she came closer to where I was sitting and she swallowed hard.

“Are you okay?” She asked me as I sniffled back, trying to fight back my tears.

‘Yes, sweetie. What’s wrong?” I asked her. Oaklyn was the sweetest thing I have ever met.

When she first came in, she just seemed to be all lost and very observant. She never used to speak to anyone or let anyone touch her things until a year ago, when she slowly let me in.

Allowing me to share a few things or let me fix her up when I visit the shelter.

“You look sad. Is it because of that mean lady?” She said. I felt little eyes all shift to me as I smiled weakly at her, pinching her chin gently.

“No sweetie. Sometimes people get sad because of what they have done and not because of other people. Okay?” I asked h
