Watching her sleeping next to me made me feel so complete, like the emptiness inside was melting away. I would do anything to become closer to her and if I had to take on the elders and my pack, so be it. She looked peaceful. As I brushed a stray lock of hair off her face, she woke looking at me with sleepy green eyes. Hypnotizing. Looking up at me, she whispered, “morning.” “Morning. How did you sleep?” Furrowing her brow, she answered, “Another dream, but at least this one wasn’t filled with death.” I had dreamt as well; I was in the Bloodmoon packs castle, but it was a lot newer like it had just been built. Our clothes were from over a thousand years ago she wore an old-style dress fastened with a brooch along with a cloak made from tartan that was fastened to her waist by a leather belt, and I had on white tunic and trews which were made of tartan (We both wore the same color tartan which symbolized being married), I went by a different name, and she did as well. We were happy.
The morning had gone by so slowly; I had showered, made, and remade the bed, looked for things that needed tidying, but there was not much in the sparse room and I ended up pacing back and forth, lost in my thoughts. “Would you stop already? You are driving me crazy?” Daciana ordered. Raising my brows, I replied, “You're crazy already. I can’t take credit for that.” In response, she laughed, “True, but seriously, find something to do.” Aside from the clothes and food that Anders had given me, my room was empty. Sighing, I sat down on the couch and watched out the window with my head in my hands as wolves came and left the castle going about their daily business, as I dozed here and there from boredom. Maybe they should put me to work. I hate not having anything to do. I used to make my parents dizzy puttering about never sitting still. There was always something I had to do. Writing, drawing, cleaning, training, and playing my guitar were my main ones if I wasn’t hiking or hunting
I was shocked at how well she fought; her father must have trained her ruthlessly. He was a Beta and strength is important to maintain your title. He definitely would have trained her. She was unnaturally fast and seemed to know every weapon she was handed, as well as martial arts. “You want to spar with me?” I questioned as she turned and faced me in challenge. It would look bad if I got my ass kicked, but if she was going to be my Luna, she needed to prove herself to them. “Have it your way.” I smiled. I walked forward and stood across from her as she took a stance with her so-called daggers. The one weapon that we did not use that often in the pack. It was more a witch’s weapon than a wolves. I unsheathed my sword as she crouched into a low stance. Looking like a cat ready to pounce. She lunged at me, her blades a blur of motion as I tried to block her. She was mixing in martial arts with her attacks. I managed to block her onslaught and knocked her to the ground. Her eyes swirlin
“Why does he want me to stay with him, won’t this make things worse with the pack?” I thought. “Maybe he doesn’t care. He’s a wolf and protective of what is his. He probably has a plan, anyway.” Daciana answered. "Or maybe he will punish us for forfeiting against him." She paused, then in an excited voice added, "I hope he does." then growled. "The only reason I forfeited was because I didn't want to belittle him in front of the pack. He's the Alpha, and they need to fear and respect him." "A Beta to the core." She laughed. “If I stayed with him, it could spell disaster, especially if they can't stop my execution.” I shuddered. "We’d both be killed, and I’d have no way of stopping it." "We will cross that bridge when we get to it." Daciana retorted in a serious tone. Silently, I followed him until we came to a door. Unlocking it, he opened it and let me in. Inside there was a fully functioning kitchen, a Livingroom with a comfy-looking sofa with a television and entertainment se
As I read through the book, anger had flooded me and seeing her tears caused pain to explode in my chest. I wanted to protect her and take it all back, but I couldn’t. Ashina had done this to her, and she forgave her. How I wanted to rip her throat out and it hadn’t even been me under her knife. “We won’t let you be executed. I refuse.” I declared to both her and my brothers. Standing up, I stalked over to the shelves, flipping through books in a frenzy, trying to find anything that would help us. “You might not find anything.” Vilkas, the pessimist wolf stated. “There has to be something.” “The Shadow Moon Alpha has returned.” A sentinel spoke through a mind link. “Have you learned where he went?” I asked the sentinel. “Our sources say he had left to meet with an Elder. We are unclear on which one it was or from which pack.” “Great, now I have to deal with them and find answers and time was running out. The remaining Elders would be back in a few days and Ashina has gotten nowh
Alone with my thoughts, I set out to cook dinner, how… domestic. I laughed at myself as I headed into the kitchen and rummaged through the cupboards, finding something to cook. I wasn’t much of a cook, so it would have to be easy. Deciding on spaghetti and Meatballs I set about my task. An hour later, I sat down alone with a plate of overcooked spaghetti and burnt meatballs, looking at my questionable creation. “You are seriously going to eat that?” Daciana asked, disgusted. “Yeah, at least it isn’t poisoned.” “You sure about that? Looks like it could be deadly.” She cackled, which echoed in my head. Shaking my head at her, I dug in. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too bad. After eating, I cleaned up and disposed of any evidence of my failure before Anders would see. He might accuse me of poisoning him. I laughed. He eats with the pack anyway and they have better food. “Hide the evidence we don’t want Anders to know what a terrible cook you are. He’d reject you on the spot.” Daciana joke
A woman with dark blue-black hair and green eyes appeared before me. Is she the Moon Goddess? I thought as a large black wolf with red eyes sat beside her. Is that Vilkas? “Took you long enough?” she stated, annoyed. “Long enough for what?” I asked confused, “who are you?” was I dreaming” “To claim your mate, and really ignoring the messages I told Vilkas to send, was just rude, Anders. You know I am the Moon Goddess, so why ask?” “Messages?” I asked, becoming angry, “you mean the nightmares?” “You needed to remember her, or she would’ve been killed… by you.” “She still might. I have to find something to prove to the elders that she is not a risk to our pack. Can you help me?” “Everything you need to save her is in your possession, wolf. You need merely to find it.” She answered, shaking her head. A thought crossing my mind, “Is this really her last life?” I asked, dreading the answer. “It is for both of you.” She sighed sadly, “I can’t keep bringing her back to die and then
Stupid Anders, why did he have to come back so soon? He’d been gone all day, so I figured he’d be back after supper. Now he knows I can’t cook. “Your domestic life is over.” Daciana stated matter of fact. Before bursting into fits of laughter, “Asshole.” I muttered under my breath. She laughed harder and in between fits of laughter said, “He ate your swamp water.” “It wasn’t swamp water, it was soup.” “Whatever you say.” My mind drifted to the events from the night before and how right it had felt to be with him. He had marked me and in doing so doomed us both. “Why can’t I mind-link with him if he claimed me?” I questioned Daciana. “You should be able to, but I think he may be blocking it for now, or at least until the matter with the Elders is dealt with or maybe because you haven't claimed him.” “I thought it was just him who had to claim me?” “He’s a wolf and your part wolf. The wolfy side needs you to claim him back, which you didn’t do, and it explains why you can’t min
Something brushed against my cheek rousing me, I opened my eyes as I moved closer to Anders, resting my head on his chest, breathing in his scent. “Morning love.” “mmm” I mumbled as I reached my hand up, rubbing his neck and shoulder. He chuckled, “We can’t stay in bed all day.” I sighed, moving to stretch, “Actually, we can because you are the Alpha and can boss everyone around.” I teased. He sat up, grabbing me by the waist pulling me to him, “You know it don’t work that way, love.” “Well, it should.” I pouted as he kissed me. “If you want me up so bad then let me go, so I can get dressed.” I laughed as I pushed him away, heading to the closet and grabbing clothes. “What are the plans for today, anyway?” I asked as I pulled my jeans on. “We have to come up with a game plan. The stuff with the Shadow Moon Pack is not finished and we need to find somewhere to hide your new weapon.” I forgot I had the immortal scythe in my possession now, I barely recalled grabbing it before he
Something took over my body. Power erupted from me as the scythe flew from Elder Zeebs hand into my own, my arm swung out as Alpha Kylen seemed to appear out of nowhere stepping in front of his father, the blade sliced through his neck. He fell to the ground as Elder Zeeb stood in shock, then screamed “My son, you little bitch, you murdered my son, as he knelt holding his son's head, his Luna ran to Alpha Kylens body sobbing throwing herself at him. Behind Zeeb, the army moved to attack me. The scythe was poised again as power continued to spill out. "Leave!" an unfamiliar voice ordered as the wolves' heads snapped up and Elder Zeeb and the Luna looked at me and the others in shock. "What the hell is going on?" one of the Shadow Moon Packs wolves asked confused, "What is she?" Instead of an answer, Zeeb looked around at the wolves behind me as if gauging the situation. “This isn’t over, we will get revenge for what you have done!!” Elder Zeeb yelled as the Luna and the Shadow Moons
Once the battle started, everything became a blur as blades slashed through the air, growls and cries rang throughout the field. Isla and my brothers beside me we blocked and defended heading towards Alpha Kylen and his father, I glanced over as Isla was being pushed away by three wolves, attacking her in unison she blocked and defended moving farther from me. I turned to follow as an onslaught of wolves surrounded my brothers and me, biting back the worry about her safety. I focused my attention on the enemies in front of me, blocking blows and swinging quickly, bringing down the lower ranked warriors. Looking around, I realized my brothers and Isla were nowhere to be found. I worked my way through the army blocking and dealing blows as I weaved my way through the carnage, bodies scattered the ground, some wounded, some dead, blood marked the once green field as the fighting continued. An enormous man charged at me, his lance poised to impale me, I dodged at the last second and sna
As we need neared the border, the tension among the pack members increased, I could feel their emotions, their anxieties. Taking a big breath, I exhaled, the feelings clearing my mind. “Imagine what you will feel when you claim him as well.” Daciana laughed. “Bitch.” I scolded her. Unlike the males claiming bite, a female wolf claims her male by publicly claiming that he is hers and as a result a tattoo of his mates wolf appear on his bicep, if he were ever to betray her the tattoo would become poisonous and slowly kill the male wolf, just as a marked female who betrayed her mate would slowly bleed out from the bite she received from her mate. The only way to escape such a fate would be to publically reject each other and have both parties wanting the rejection. We approached the clearing from earlier along the border stood the shadow Moon Pack Alpha Kylen stood at the front facing us with his father Elder Zeeb by his side. Anders and I stood in front of our pack as they fanned out
“I’m on my way.” I yelled as we ran as fast as possible to the Northern border. "Be safe, there is one hell of a fight going on," she informed. "Don’t tell me you went to where the battle is happening?" I yelled back angrily. She wouldn’t dare get involved. “A wolf cried in pain. I can’t just ignore it.” She retorted. “Fuck, we need to go faster,” I ordered to Vilkas. “We are going as fast as we can, not to mention she isn’t some helpless she wolf she can handle herself.” “You don’t know which wolves are from which pack. Just wait for me!” I yelled, as panic and worry surged through me the dreams replaying in my head. In all of them, we had been separated, and she had been killed. “How far are you from here?” she asked. “Minutes away. just wait. Please.” I begged. “She’s not going to listen.” Vilkas shared as we jumped over some brush, “She won’t allow a pack member to be injured never has. It’s one of the things we love about her.” “I can’t lose her again.” I declared as we
I ran towards the direction the howl had come from, the sounds of battle were becoming louder and louder. “I’m on my way.” Anders yelled into my head as I continued in the noise's direction. "Be safe, there is one hell of a fight going on," I informed back as I exited the trees and emerged into a clearing. Ten wolves were fighting, blood sprayed the ground, multiple wolves were unconscious, all of them were injured in varying degrees. "Don’t tell me you went to where the battle is happening?" He yelled back angrily. “A wolf cried in pain. I can’t just ignore it.” I thought back as I descended upon the battle. “You don’t know which wolves are from which pack. Just wait for me!” he yelled, I could feel his urgency in his voice as he was trying to reach me and the panic and worry that radiated through him. “How far are you from here?” I asked as I stopped, turning around and retreating back into the treeline. “Minutes away. just wait. Please.” He begged. “I can tell which wolf bel
My brothers followed the sentinel into my office. “What’s happening at the border?” Thane asked before I could. "The Shadow Moon Pack is gathering at the northern border, we believe they are planning to attack soon, we saw their scouts and have followed their movements." “Thank you, we will need to prepare as well.” The sentinel bowed and left. I turned to my brothers, “Seems Zeeb has informed them of our plans. I bet he had Ashina take Isla as a way to distract me.” “I know you want to find Isla, but we need to know who is loyal to our pack first, we need to have the pack members swear an oath of fealty or we are putting ourselves at risk in this battle. We don’t know who Zeebs followers are.” Alec advised. “I agree, at least she is safe with Ashina. They are blood related after all.” Thane added. “Blood related or not, she is a threat. We don’t know what her plans are.” I sighed, knowing I had to focus on the upcoming battle. "Gather the pack in the dining hall. We will see wh
After looking out the window and making sure her henchmen were not guarding the door, I left the cabin, closing the door silently behind me. I headed back up the path, careful not to make too much noise; I searched for the door into the castle and could not find it. Maybe it was a portal. I thought. “Okay, so no door now what?” I spoke to myself. “Guess we get back the old way. We can’t be too far from the castle; I can sense it.” Daciana shared. “It still could be far away.” I noted. “We will run all night if we have to. The fact that Ashina took us now means the Shadow Moon Pack is planning their next move.” I nodded in agreement and shifted. We took off running through the trees, stopping to smell the air to get a sense of what direction we needed to go in. “If that door was a portal, it would make sense that it wouldn’t be there anymore, but at the same time, what witch or witches are helping her with this?” I thought as we continued to push forward into the thick forest. “We
“Maybe I’m paranoid, but Ashina and Isla are taking a long time, are they not?” Thane asked, looking at the clock on the wall. We had discussed a new battle strategy and were about to go over when to attack and decided that night was the best time to catch them off guard. “It has been too long. It's been over an hour.” I tried to mind-link with Isla, then Ashina, but was unable to. It was like they were being blocked from me. I rose and headed from office and down to the kitchen. Two men lay unconscious in the destroyed space, panic overwhelmed me as I looked for her, but she wasn’t here. I grabbed the closet man and shook him. “Where is she? Where is Isla?” I yelled at him. “She… is safe with Ashina.” In shock, I dropped him. Had she betrayed us? I looked at Shaw. “Where would your mother hide someone?” He looked at me and replied, “To be honest, I barely know her, she was never around, and I don’t even know where she stays when she’s here. I’m sorry.” He was right; he spent m
