Morning court had taken about three hours this morning, and now, another one?

I was irritated, but I had been away for the most part for three years. If I wanted them to stop their long-winded talks in every meeting, I had to wait it out.

Maybe give it a week or two.

I tugged at my shirt, displeased with every step I took away from my mate. While I hadn’t imagined having every hour with her, I had expected more time with her.

Especially now, she had looked so dispirited earlier. No different from when that bastard cheated on her. That was exactly why we had come here, so she could have a sense of belonging and be able to move on quite quickly.

Why was it looking like I had totally ruined everything?

“I don’t need an escort,” I barked at the guard who was two steps behind me. He stopped and then pressed forward barely a second later.
