Elizabeth

“Elizabeth! Hurry up! They are here!” My omega excitedly shouted before disappearing again. It had been a year to the day since the vampires were defeated and the witches were coming to join us for a festival to celebrate. I sighed deeply and followed the people who were excitedly making their way outside. In the square the witches had just landed as we walked out of the castle. Our pack had lost so much that day. So many lives. If you looked at what the town looks like now, you wouldn’t even believe that we were fighting for our lives.

“Welcome!” My brother’s voice echoed, and his mate quickly moved beside him to say hello. They had their little one just a couple of weeks ago. The high priestess gushed over the baby before turning her attention to me.

“Elizabeth, it is so good to see you again.” She pulled me into her bear hug and I smiled.

“Lilly, it’s been far too long.” I smiled as she let me go just a little. “Come, we have prepared rooms for you in the castle.” There w

ElizabethThe festival went off without a hitch, and soon I was standing in the castle courtyard with just a small bag to take with me. I was surprised that my parents agreed that I could go on this trip. Our relationship with the witches was the strongest it had ever been, but I was just surprised. I guessed they wanted me to get out after I had basically been hiding in the territory for a year.I said goodbye quickly, so they wouldn’t notice the tears in my eyes and we left. It was a short flight and before long we were landing. The high priestess’s assistant showed me to the room I would be staying in and I settled in. A young witch I met earlier that week brought me some clothes to put on, and after I was dressed in the most comfortable dress I had ever worn, I met her outside. The witches were already back to work, and the young girl showed me around. I was interested in their gardens, and she left me to help a very old woman. I have to admit she didn’t move like an old woman!“S

ElizabethHalfway up the mountain, the high priestess sat down on a huge rock underneath a tree. A soft breeze was blowing, cooling us down when, out of nowhere, she pulled a basket from the small pouch she had at her side. Inside were some sandwiches and cool fresh water.“It is really beautiful here.” I looked out at the distance we had come and it was an incredible view.“Yes, it is. I wanted to show you some of the beauty of our land, but if you look over there, you will see that some of the trees are dying.” She pointed at a dark spot in the middle of the forest. “I will be sending a notice to the dwarfs to work on it, but if I don’t let them know, they might not know and the disease might spread to the entire forest.” She frowned. She didn’t have to explain. I got what she was trying to say.“I let the disease spread. I know. I just. It just hurt so much.” I sighed and she nodded. “That is why I’m here. I am trying to heal.”“You won’t heal until you admit that you are in pain.”

ElizabethMelony was in charge of processing. She and her team took the plants that were now grown and harvested them. They cleaned them, and finally made the product that would eventually be used by the people who bought it from the witches. Of course, they also made whatever was needed by the witches in their daily lives. I learned how to cut and dry the plants and at the same time I learned how to cut poison out of my life. All the negative thoughts that swam around my own mind that poisoned me against finding true happiness. I had been wrong in the beginning. It wasn’t just Alice who was a fountain of information. All these women were. They weren’t just witches. They had all lived full and happy lives before they came here. But their happiness didn’t end because they didn’t have families. They have just started a new phase of their lives. My last part of my journey was spent with the high priestess. I learned how she took the time to prepare each potion and spell herself. She also

ElizabethI watched the grown-up world happening in their imaginary one and, although it was upsetting, I could understand why the children were playing that way. In their imaginary world, bad things happened, but they always had a happy ending. When it became clear a couple of weeks after I arrived at home that there wasn’t going to be a project that I could do to better our home, I had no other choice but to accept that my life was what it was. I wasn’t going to accomplish anything ground-breaking. A fact that would have bothered me if I hadn't been so happy. The witches also taught me that sometimes we weren’t meant to be amazing, and that was okay.I just couldn’t go back to sitting around reading every single afternoon. It was a huge let-down. I needed to find something. Anything! I was standing in the library looking out of the enormous windows when movement caught my eye. The warriors were busy with training on the grounds. It had been the first time in a long time that I allow

ElizabethAll the promises I made myself the past couple of weeks went straight out the window the moment I met the very rude Alpha Oliver! I shouldn’t have let it happen, but I did! The man was infuriating! Looking down as if he was better than anyone else! I tried my best to think of all the lessons that the witches taught me, but under his gaze that was just impossible! After dinner, I was relieved to find out that the men would be retreating to my brother’s office and I would have some time away from his gaze. They escorted us to the library and just when I thought I had been rid of him for at least a while, he appeared right behind me! His hot breath made my skin break out in goosebumps all over and I silent swore at my body for betraying me so openly!“Don’t go to bed. We have to talk after I’m done with your brother.” Was he actually ordering me?! I whipped around to say something, but he was out of the door with my brother and left me there gaping like a damn fish out of water

OliverHer lips tasted sweeter than I anticipated. She responded, and it pushed my need to touch her through the roof. It took everything I had to release her, so we could both catch our breaths.“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have, but you asked.” I was completely out of my element. I had women before, but I had never been this attracted to any of them! I had never been as rude to someone as I was with her in those first moments we met, but I was just in shock. I knew at that very moment I saw her for the first time that I would give my life to protect her and that was infuriating. To know that there was someone that would be carrying my heart from that moment on. Someone that could hurt me, so deeply, it could kill me if they left. The feelings were overwhelming me and for a moment I took it out on her. I looked at her as she stood in front of me smiling.“You are right. I did ask.” She turned, and we walked on while I stuffed my hands right back into my pockets. If I didn’t, I might just

ElizabethOur families had a million questions, which was understandable and laughter rang through the dining room while Oliver and I explained what happened and how we came to our decision. It felt as if accepting each other had opened the channels for communication in such a way that there was absolutely nothing we couldn’t talk about.Just trusting that the moon goddess knew what was best and going with it had freed us both. It basically freed all of us to just talk openly. I had made a life-changing decision after Oliver told me how he felt about his home, and I was excited to inform everyone that I wanted to move to his home. Everything I learned while I was with the witches would finally be put to work.I could finally dig my hands into the dirt again the same way I did back there. My family was happy to hand my current responsibilities to others, and it seemed as if everything was going well until my brother cleared his throat.“There is just one thing I’m concerned about. You

ElizabethThe time flew by, and it felt as if I just blinked, and I was standing in front of my mirror again, dressed for my mating ceremony. I had lost count of how many times I prayed over the past week for the moon goddess to just bless this day. It was one of the reasons I didn’t want to take too long before having it. I was scared the same thing would happen. I was scared we would be attacked and I would lose Oliver. My white dress flowed around my body while the bodice clung to my body. It was perfect. It was completely different to the one I picked to wear before. It was nothing like the royal ball gowns I always wore for official events. It was very simple in comparison, but this time I felt like myself. My parents showed up minutes before the ceremony and I could see that they were very happy for me.We had straightened out all the possible problems there would be if I moved out of the kingdom and all around me my boxes were packed and ready to leave with me. It was strange t

A world council was appointed to protect all the creatures, and they prepared for the day the humans would return.Supernatural creatures combined their powers and knowledge to better the world and soon everyone was flourishing. The creatures opted not to use their new-found technology to explore the heavens. They didn’t want to run into the creatures that nearly destroyed the earth. They had learned their lessons from the mistakes humans made and whenever greed showed its ugly head, they would quickly be shut down. The supernatural creatures had been given a second chance, and they were going to live their lives to the fullest this time. ElizabethAs the world turned, the Lycan kingdom changed. The days of the great wars were forgotten. The days of peace and trade passed. What was once a great nation splintered into the world and the beautiful castle was left abandoned. The human world grew stronger and the supernatural had to hide from it to stay safe. Traditions were abandoned, so they could hide and the fact that these creatures were real was turned into a myth. The history of the great Lycan kingdom was turned into a legend. The amazing lives of Oliver and Helena were forgotten, and their history books turned to dust in an abandoned kingdom. Witches, dwarfs, pixies and fairies became the creatures that only existed in fairy tales. The age of man had arrived. The rhythm of life took over as the creatures had to hide deeper and deeper in the darkness.Thankfully, the wheel of life always turned, and these creatures found their way back. They grew stronger and fought wars to make a place for themselves in the world.

ElizabethOur children grew and with them our pack and also our little village. My projects that seemed huge when I started them now seemed small, and we had to expand our vegetable garden sooner than planned. We quickly became the second-largest trading post in our region. It wasn’t surprising when we got word that the werecats wanted to talk.A young new alpha had been appointed. She had taken over from her father and had very different views to him. I was pleasantly surprised to meet the young woman. She was strong and confident but not overbearing like most males in her position. She negotiated a very good trade deal between our pack and hers and people who used to be enemies quickly became good friends. It was a time for peace in our world. I knew war would come again someday, but for now we were all living in peace. We were trading and even started a student exchange. After visiting the witches, I really wanted my children to experience something similar when the time was right.

ElizabethSadly, I was very wrong. The werecats were planning war. They wanted our territory and nothing was going to stop them. Our son was born in the midst of all of it and I had a hard time convincing Oliver not to send me back home! He wanted me and our son to be safely tucked away in the castle while they fought the werecats! Who the hell did he think he was mated with?!As soon as my body allowed, I was right there by his side fighting for our people. The war didn’t last very long though. We won fairly quickly thanks to the Royal Army standing behind us. I didn’t realize how incredibly proud I was of myself and of our people until I stood on the porch of our new pack house looking out at our people.Everyone looked tired, and I could feel the sadness in the air. We haven’t just fought a war. We built our new pack house while fighting! Oliver wanted to keep the people busy who had to stay behind. He listened when I told him that life had to continue while we were off fighting fo

ElizabethI had always thought losing Jason was the worst thing I could have gone through, but as I sat there waiting to find out if Oliver had survived the attack, I realized that it wasn’t. If I lost Oliver, I wouldn’t survive. I would appear strong for the pack. I would carry on and raise our pup, but my heart would be broken forever and there would be no healing it this time. It was a scary thing to realize, but it was the truth.Oliver wasn’t just my mate. He was my best friend. The one I relied on. Literally, my other half. Losing him would be like losing my most important limb. I would be able to adjust and move on and live, but something would always be missing. My eyes shot up, and my brain froze the moment we heard someone touching the door handle.“Elizabeth, it’s me. It’s safe. You can come out.” Oliver’s voice caused a collective sigh of relief in the room and I rushed to open the door. Rushing into his arms as soon as I saw him. I breathed in his scent and he smelled of

ElizabethOur celebrations didn’t last long, as soon as Oliver realized that we were under threat. His face instantly turned from happy to worried and I sighed deeply. This was definitely going to affect my life in far worse ways than I had anticipated.“You can’t work on the gardens in your condition. What if we are attacked? How are you going to get to safety in time.” He was talking to me, but it looked more like he was talking to himself as he started to pace back and forth.“Oliver, seriously? I’m pregnant. I’m not an invalid. I’m not even showing yet, for goodness’s sake! I am not going to spend the next couple of months in bed hiding from the world. I won’t do it!” I glared at him. He stopped pacing and sighed deeply as he looked at me.“But you are carrying precious cargo …” He started and when he tried to put his hands on my hips, I pushed him away.“Yes, I am. Cargo that will require exercise and healthy food. Not to mention fresh air. If you want this baby to be born health

ElizabethMy family hadn’t prepared to stay very long, which meant that when the werecats didn’t attack two days later, they had to return to the castle. The men seemed to agree that the werecats were playing the long game. They somehow knew the royal family was visiting and either they weren’t ready to attack yet, or they perhaps didn’t want to take them on.It infuriated me to live in this kind of limbo. I hated trying to guess what my enemy was up to. I hated having enemies. If we had done something to them, I could understand, but we hadn’t. They were just being greedy. I sighed as we said goodbye to my family and watched them disappear into the forest. It was nice having them there, but life had to go on.We would all still be living in a constant state of wondering when we were going to be attacked. Oliver was convinced the werecats were trying to lull us into a false sense of security. He was sure they were going to attack as soon as they thought we had forgotten about them. Wh

ElizabethOliver and I decided we were going to split up because of this. He would stay behind and protect the pack since we were convinced the werecats would come for our prisoner. I was taking the prisoner to my brother. If the werecats thought they could attack the princess of the Lycan kingdom, they would have to think again! We didn’t waste time and within an hour I was ready to go. Oliver pulled me into his arms and kissed me before resting his forehead on mine.“I know you can protect yourself, but please, please be safe. I won’t survive if something happens to you. Keep your eyes and ears open and don’t, under any circumstances, untie the prisoner.” He sighed deeply and I nodded.“I won’t.” I kissed him before pulling out of his arms.“We will take good care of her, alpha.” My future gamma guard promised and I smiled. Their training had gone well so far, but they weren’t ready to protect me all on their own just yet. My royal guards still had to be there as well. As our group

ElizabethOliver and I didn’t go away on honeymoon since there was just too much to do, but it didn’t bother me. I loved being able to finally put my knowledge to the test. We built his parents' garden faster than anticipated and when the entire pack gathered to look at it, I felt pride in my work. In all of them. So many pitched in to plant flowers and grass that it all came together beautifully.Oliver’s mother had tears in her eyes when we revealed the finished product. She had told me a couple of weeks earlier that she saw the gardens at the castle when she was a little girl and had wanted something like that since she was a little girl. I was glad that we could give it to her. I even convinced my family to sponsor some of the flowers right out of the castle garden to round things off and give it that special look. All around the sides there were beautiful flowers with grass divided by walkways and a small fountain in the centre. Oliver built four benches that were placed around t
