Almost dying was the main reason behind being able to see things clearly all of a sudden. But there was also something else. The way Phillipa and her parents jumped in and fought to protect my pack without so much as a backward glance was incredible. I judged them before getting to know them and I felt like a damn idiot for doing that. Things were going to change. They had to see if we were going to do things right this time around.

I wanted to change things. My point of view had drastically changed. No more games.

It felt as if a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders, only to be replaced again. We had to face the demons of my parents’ past. We had a rogue pack that didn’t follow orders from the then or current kings and that was a huge problem. When this got out, and it was definitely going to get out, the people might just revolt. Everyone loved my family, but if we weren’t strong enough to control our people, they might think twice about having us in charge.
