Kayla's POV

"Go Kayla, go and be with Kain. He is the man you chose. Keep the baby safe" the King whispered, stepping away till the Shadows swallowed him.

"I'll find another way I promise" I vowed, the King stayed silent and after a while it was clear he wouldn't respond. Weakly, I left the dungeons placing a second DNA test as my plan B.

Klaus couldn't give up so easily, especially since he was behind bars to keep me safe, I would have enough faith for both of us if he wasn't ready to fight. I would no matter what.

I followed the stairway back to the buzzing activity of the pack house thinking about other options when his scent caught my nostrils.

"Kayla," Kain’s voice rang out. “Where have you been?"

I turned, making sure to keep my hand casually at my side hiding the syringe. For a moment seeing him- his resemblance to the King made me mad. The King should be the one out here walking around freely not him.

“Kayla?” Kain spoke again as I remained silent. I shook my head
