“I’ll stay here.”

The king wasn’t pleased with Harper’s declaration.

“No, please. Your safety’s my top priority. I can’t fight here while thinking you’re not in the room sleeping safely.”

Damon reached out to hold Harper’s hand. But she stepped back and kept it beyond his reach.

“I said no, Damon. I won’t hide in my room when all of the men are here fighting for me.”

Damon frowned. He looked at her eyes for almost a minute, seeking some solace or a hint of fear. What the queen just said scared him. He’s scared for her safety. He’s thinking of their child’s welfare. For all reasons, it’s always better if she’s in the room sleeping away from this noisy ground.

But she didn’t fold. She looked at him with firmness on her face.

“As what I said, I’ll stay here with the rest of you. You cannot control me to go back inside the room and pretend I don’t exist. Brayden and the rest because of me, Damon. I have to fight back.”
