Chapter 84

Amelia paused. Perhaps he was exaggerating. Sandra was mean and she had some doubts but surely, Sandra was not one to play her that way and then try to kill her.

She didn't know her but Sandra's looks didn't portray her to be someone capable of killing.

"That's a lie".

Alex walked to where she stood and stopped in front of her.

"Think about it, Amelia". His eyes narrowed in the child's direction and then hers.

"The woman who wanted me to be hers told you I killed your father. It's only logical that she wanted you gone and out of the way. You already know she's lying. I know you knew. You must have ran away for another reason".

"And what reason was that?"

Alex looked at the child and then her, "You know it".

His words were so sincere and the soft tone that followed it made it even more believable.

His facial expression has softened. For the first time while since he came that Amelia stared at him, she got to notice his messy hair.

"Amelia. I don't care what it is about. I don't care
