CAMILLE'S POV

It had been maybe six in the morning when I woke Neal and told him I wanted to leave the castle.

My job was done, and Neal didn't object to driving me. He did, however, insist I see Dimitri before departing.

Fortunately, I managed to sway him from that idea.

I was thankful the kids were still asleep when I loaded them into the car with my things, and Neal drove us out.

"I take it you're not interested in the curse anymore," Neal mentioned as we reached the gate.

He opened a window, showing the sentinels he was with us. They let us through without question.

"I am," I replied. The curse couldn't be ignored, especially with my child in the picture.

"Really?" Neal sounded skeptical, his eyebrows raised. "You're not meeting the first sentinel?"

Collins whined in his sleep, and I brought him onto my lap, stroking his head. "You mentioned he wasn't reliable due to his dementia," I lied smoothly.

Neal's gaze shifted back to the road. "A broken clock is right twice a day. You wer

DIMITRI'S POVShe was gone! Why? The beast upon hearing that grumbled. My thoughts were everywhere all at once. Nothing made sense. With a nonchalant front, I was about to tell the sentinel to put a call through to Neal and ensure that Cameryn was returned to the palace to end this madness. But before the words could even leave my mouth, Eva stood up from where she sat and marched towards the doctor. "What do you mean Camille is alive?" She screeched. I could only understand. Hearing about her sister who was dead would bring considerable trauma. Which was why it only made me boil. I was only going on an assumption. But something told me that the Beta of the Lily of the Valley was only causing this chaos because word must have gotten to him that his son was now healthy again. It always struck me as odd how the man didn't show up to defend his son when it was revealed that he was the culprit behind the explosion. An Alpha and his Beta had a unique bond. But nothing could overshado

CAMILLE'S POVOnce Neal left, I called Megan to come and babysit the kids since it was a Saturday. "Miss Gallagher, are you alright?" She asked as soon as she arrived. "Those men were really scary.""I'm fine," I assured her. "You won't have to spend so much time with the kids today. I should be back sometime in the afternoon."Megan nodded. "And the men, they won't show up again, will they?""Of course not," I promised her again. "They simply needed my help then. They aren't bad people."Once that was settled, I left Megan with the kids and flagged down a taxi to drive me to Ophelia Cottonwood's home. Ophelia was a talented maternity witch who had left her coven; the Begonia because they wouldn't allow her to use her talents on women who weren't affiliated with the coven. In the back of the taxi where I sat, I thought about her. Ophelia was also the only one that I hadn't hidden myself from. She knew who I was and she had kept my secret for years. So when I revealed to her that m

CAMILLE'S POV"I..." I tried to speak but the words wouldn't come out. I was still reeling from the new vision I had gotten and the witch pointing a ball of hot fire in my face did not help matters one bit. "Speak!" The witch shrieked as the fireball inched close. "I am a sister," Ophelia yelled back in response. My heart raced as tension crackled in the air. The witch holding me at bay with a ball of fire seemed to ease her stance at Ophelia's declaration. That shift gave me the slim opportunity to turn to Ophelia's side. Like me, there was a witch with Ophelia. She wielded a blade made entirely of air dangerously close to the nape of Ophelia's throat that it drew blood. "A sister?" The one with the sword of air scoffed. "I do not know you.""I am Ophelia Cottonwood," Ophelia retorted, clearly offended. "Practically a legend within these walls."The mention of Ophelia's name seemed to ripple through the air, sparking recognition even in the face of scepticism."Cottonwood?" The

CAMILLE'S POVThe Supreme looked like she was about to refuse. I watched her face as she considered it and when she opened her mouth, I expected to be hit with a blatant no. "Girls," she finally spoke. "Take our guest here to the graveyard."She accepted? I turned to Ophelia, trying to read her body language. It was stiff and there was shock in her eyes. Probably because she also could not believe that the supreme of the coven gave in to my demands. The Supreme followed my gaze and chuckled when she realized that it was Ophelia I was staring at. "Can Ophelia come with me?" I asked. "No," was her response. "I have a business to discuss with her. It would be in your best interest to dally on to the graveyard."I clenched my fists. I didn't feel comfortable. Leaving Ophelia felt like I was throwing her to the wolves. It didn't matter if Ophelia had already promised that she wasn't a slave and returning to the coven only meant there would be more restrictions on what she could do and

Everything was going to be mine. But she returned. The rage blinded me for a second and I punched into a wall. I didn't care if my bones shattered, I needed to distract my brain. The pain consuming me came from there. Not my battered hands. Why? Why had she shown up now? Five years and she had been silent. Has she been plotting this? "Eva," I heard a familiar voice. I turned to face her. Milana was frantic as she jogged my way. "What is going on?"What was going on? My life was about to be over. Unless..."Milana," I forced a smile and hid my battered hand. "Why are you here? You aren't supposed to be here.""I heard your pack is here. But the whole palace seems so tense and no one will tell me anything.""Oh... Dimitri must have spread the word." CAMILLE'S POVIt made sense. But for some reason, I still refused to comprehend it. Records wouldn't be above lying. It's been done a thousand times. But a big coverup involving a coven I had been told time and time again wanted nothing to do with even other witches; it was a bit too much to accept.Still facing the witches, who seemed as confused as I was, I realized this secret was a well-kept one. "I need to see the supreme," I mentioned and continued back to the entwined tree. I passed through the barrier and back into the coven, not minding the whisper or the watchful eyes of the coven sisters. When I reached the chamber of the supreme, there was a warlock guarding the front door. He warned me not to get too close, warning me with what looked like a whip of air. Whatever fear of the unknown I had was gone. I was hungry for answers. "I need to speak with the supreme.""You will have to wait," the warlock retorted. "She is having a word with one of our own."I was frustrated, bu

Whatever doubt I carried about Cameryn ever being Camille was gone. Cameryn was Camille. Both women were one and the same. She looked just like she had done the first time I set my eyes on her in the councilroom. But there was something else. It wasn't the madness pumping in my blood or the animal inside pleading to be set free. She had changed. She had grace.I watched her eyes widen as I asked the question I still couldn't wrap my head around. "...how are your kids mine?"We stood dangerously close. CAMILLE'S POV I took a deep breath as the massive ornate doors of the Lycaon Church slowly creaked open. My heart was pounding like crazy - this was such a huge moment. As the doors parted, a sliver of light spilled in, and I stepped forward, the delicate lace veil over my head obscuring my vision and hiding the intense emotions I felt from the hundreds of eyes watching me enter. The air inside was cool and thick with the sweet smell of incense. I could hear the rustle of fancy silk dresses and reverent whispers as everyone turned to watch me walk down the aisle. Soft, beautiful piano music began playing, a serene piece I had chosen myself to start off this grand ceremony. As I made my way up the gold carpet that seemed to glow like a path of light before me, the veil cast everything in a sort of ethereal, dreamy haze. I could feel the intricate embroidery on my exquisite gown as my fingers brushed against the fabric - it was an actual work of art, adorned with symbols of our histo

But two wrongs don't make it right. This is inhumane! A collar is a for a dog.""A troubled dog." I corrected as I knelt down to meet her gaze."I'm only being a good sister, Eva," I said softly. "You were raised wrong by your mother, Adele. Despite everything, I didn't think you deserved to suffer for something your mother and my grandmother had a hand in creating. So this is your chance at a new beginning, Eva. Be good."Eva's face twisted in disgust. I watched her muster the courage to do it. EVA'S POV (THREE DAYS AFTER THE EVENTS OF RAVENFORD)Three days of pure torture had passed. There was no clean drinking water, bath, or even a basin to wash my face or hair. The guards were rough whenever they could be, and I had only been given a decent meal once. So, panic seized me when I heard keys rattling in the lock of my cell, and the door creaked open.I looked up and saw three guards approaching. With each step they took, I shrunk back further."You can't kill me. I haven't been tried yet. I'm innocent."One of the guards stepped forward and slapped me hard across the face. I dropped to the floor, shuddering from the impact."You whiny bitch! You kill one of our own and try to harm our prince, and you have the audacity to call yourself innocent. You have no idea how much every one of us is fighting not to take your life and be done with it." Through gritted teeth, I managed to speak, "I am Eva Dumont, future Luna of the Lily of the Valley pack, and a cursed beast like you

DIMITRI'S POVI turned away from the Deltas, my mind already buzzing with plans. Their eyes followed me, filled with a mix of worry and resolve. They knew what we were up against and grasped the dangers. This was no time to hesitate."Follow me," I commanded, heading toward my chambers. The guards moved with me, their steps precise and silent, a result of years of training. The atmosphere was thick with the seriousness of our mission.Once inside my bedroom, I went straight to the dressing table and grabbed my phone. I dialed quickly, the familiar number bringing a brief sense of comfort in the chaos. Ginger answered almost at once."Ginger, it's me again. Back to business. I have three men with me, so the spell needs to be done twice."There was a short pause before Ginger's calm, reassuring voice came through. "No problem, Dimitri. I can manage that."I set the phone down on a dresser and turned to the first sentinel guard. "Step into the rune. Ginger, start the spell."The guard an

CAMILLE'S POV The necrotic green glow exploded out of me, shattering the windows and shaking the very core of the building. The door I had transmuted into a wall disintegrated completely. The light consumed everything, and when it finally died, my eyes struggled to adjust to the debris and the afterimage of that sickly glow. My breath came in short gasps, and I blinked rapidly, trying to make sense of the scene before me. Amid the wreckage, I saw Abigail not far from where I stood. She lay on the floor, her eyes wide and filled with shock. A tremor ran through me as I wondered if the spell had worked. Had I failed? Abigail’s movements drew my attention. She stared at her hands, her expression one of bewilderment. Then, her gaze shifted to the ceiling. The rune I had drawn to seal her magic was now fractured, broken by the cracks that laced the ceiling. Fucking hell! She rose to her feet, power radiating from her as she turned to face me. “I gave you the opportunity to touch a r

CAMILLE'S POV The space around me seemed to thrum with the weight of Asmodeus's words. "The rune is known as the Sigil of Perdition," he said, his voice low and measured. "It is an ancient power, capable of manipulating the fabric of reality in ways that no ordinary spell can." I felt a shiver run down my spine as I emboldened myself to ask the question that mattered the most. "But, will it work?" Asmodeus's gaze met mine. It looked like he was almost disappointed that I would ask. "Well, I hope so," he replied. "What I am gambling on is your raw strength, Camille. You are much stronger than Abigail. I felt it when you awakened. The demon blood that runs through your veins is not recessive like it was with Bo." I frowned, not fully understanding. "What do you mean by that?" Before he could answer, a bright light assaulted my eyes, turning my vision completely white. Panic tugged through me as I tried to blink away the blinding light. My senses felt dulled, as if I were suspen

DIMITRI'S POVI awoke with a start, finding myself on the cold, hard floor. The chill sent shivers through my body. Blinking rapidly, I struggled to shake off the haze of unconsciousness. As my vision cleared, I noticed intricate rune drawings on the floor beside me, softly glowing in the dim light. My heart sank as I recognized the teleportation sigil. Beside it lay Neal, motionless, his chest rising and falling in shallow breaths. That could only mean one thing. Camille had knocked him out cold, too, and gone to Abigail alone. An admission that heavy made my skin crawl.“No, no, no,” I muttered, my body starting to tremble. “Camille, what have you done?” I approached the rune, my steps heavy and reluctant, each one echoing my growing dread.Without wasting time, I turned and opened the door, my mind racing. I needed help, and I needed it fast. I hurried down the hallway, my thoughts a chaotic swirl of worry and rage. I was angry at Neal, and more importantly, I was angry at myself.
