Zira’s POV
The scent of the man whose arms were wrapped around me was the most wonderful in the world. Just being in his embrace made me feel so at home I didn’t want to fight the need to remain there. Every part of me kept chanting that he was my mate, that he belonged to me….
So when he finally released me from his tight hold, I didn’t react, but simply stared at him.
Killian had always been the most handsome man I’d ever encountered. Not only did I think he was attractive, but so did Scarlett and the females of the other packs. He was widely regarded as the hottest alpha in the area.
But the man in front of me made me feel like all of us had been blind all these years. Atop a build that made me feel like he was looking down at me from his eyes, his face was perfectly sculpted like a painting.
It wasn’t easy to accept that this man, who appeared to be a reincarnation of the Greek mythology gods we had read about, was actually my mate. I shook my head twice and then told my mind to calm down. I was probably overthinking because a man like this, who made a guy like Killian look ordinary in comparison, shouldn’t have anything to do with me. Right?
Certainly, I must have heard him wrong.
Nonetheless, the longer I stared into those alluring hazel eyes that had me transfixed, the more I felt my wolf churning to break free and rush out to make him mine. It took every ounce of self-control within me to hold back, even when every bit of my inner voice was crying out, saying I had heard him right; he was my mate.
I had no plans of taking my eyes off his beautifully carved face until Leah’s voice broke through my thoughts.
"Zira, I know you’re the luna of the blood moon pack and that you’re supposed to introduce and lead me while I’m in the capital, but when exactly do you plan to present me to this man?"
I bit back a chuckle as I turned to look at her; it was only then that I realized Scarlett and her crew were still around, and they had moved to stand behind me.
Though she and Killian hadn’t tied the knot, I’d lost count of how many times in the last week she’d casually referred to herself as “Luna.” She continued to act inappropriately, but I could not judge whether it was purposeful or not. This was no different. Regardless, her request was straightforward, but I was as in the dark about him as she was. I only knew he might be my mate.
So I looked at him, hoping he would introduce himself to everyone—including me.
“Forgive my manners,” he addressed Leah in a rich baritone that sent shivers down my spine. “Welcome to the capital, Luna of the Blood Moon Pack. Have you been assigned a living space?” Although he looked aloof, and his expression didn’t show any fawning or respect towards Leah, his words were polite. A tremendous weight I had been unaware of lifted from my heart.
With looks like his, I had been worried he would be arrogant.
“I’m afraid not; my escort merely picked this hotel at random so we could spend the night.” Leah responded, stiffening her shoulders like a queen.
I resisted the urge to laugh. Knowing Leah, she had most likely thought that, with his words, he was respectful of her identity. She probably even thought herself to be more important than him.
Unfortunately, strength was the most important thing in our world, and even I could feel deep in my bones that this man was not someone beneath us. But trust Leah, who was always eager to feel on top of the world, to miss a detail like that.
His eyes flickered to mine, holding me in place just like earlier, and then he reached out to hold my hands.
By then, I had become almost certain that the man before me felt the same way I felt because there was no way to explain why a total stranger would act that way toward me.
“Is there a place prepared for me?” Leah asked, breaking our moment, and I looked at her just in time to see her batting her eyelashes at me.
I gazed at the man still holding my hand and felt a looming crisis with how Leah looked at him. She only sighed when his eyes met mine and he wasn’t paying her any attention.
Before I could clarify matters, Scarlett spoke. “Miss Leah is new here and knows nothing about the customs and arrangements in the capital. Please excuse her,” she said as she stepped forward and bent her head slightly.
My brows jumped in surprise, and I looked at him suspiciously again. Yes, the aura he was giving off said he was undoubtedly special, and Scarlett had talked to him with a bit of adoration and awe. She had me thinking something was wrong. I ran a quick cross-check of people I knew in the capital who could match his age and image. Unfortunately, none came up, so I had no choice but to ask him. “Are you from the capital? What’s your name?” I asked cautiously, trying my best not to sound rude.
“With the symbol on his shirt, he’s certainly from the capital,” Scarlett rushed to speak before he could reply. She shot me a challenging gaze.
I wanted to tell her this wasn’t some competition; I was just trying to get to know my mate. Besides, wasn’t she here to see someone crowned king? Why the hell was she staring at my mate so much?
“Yes, I am,” he replied vaguely and then asked, “Are all of you from the blood moon pack?” His eyes ran across the six to seven of us, that now seemed like a group.
“It’s just the two of us,” Leah said. “The rest are people we don’t exactly know.”
I resisted the urge to laugh at her reply. Surely if she became the Luna, the Blood Moon Pack was going to find it hard to keep all their social connections.
“I’m from the Rising Moon Pack,” Scarlett replied, and he nodded.
“I’m Ronan,” he finally said.
His name was familiar; I seemed to have heard it somewhere before. But where?
It was hard to take note of anything around me with Ronan beside me, occupying each of my senses. From his scent to his every move, I was entranced by him.
But I did my best to keep track of how often Leah looked at him. Although I wanted all of them gone, I couldn’t leave Leah there, not with how much trouble she could cause. And nothing could be worse than getting both of us in trouble there and maybe even dragging Ronan into it.
Scarlett and her group turned to go just as a team of Royal guards surrounded us, scaring everyone, including Scarlett. They stepped back into the circle.
I glanced up at Ronan instinctively, noticing that he was the only one who didn’t look bothered or wary.
“Your highness,” one of the guards said and then bowed his head low.
Your Highness?
Scarlett and Leah looked as confused as I was, and we peered at the guard suspiciously while tracing his bow to Ronan.
“Ronan?” I called out softly as I looked up at him.
He chuckled in response, his voice rumbling low, and pulled me into his embrace.
“Are you from the royal family?” I asked again, a little worried that he was probably from a side branch.“He is the king Alpha of Eliza. Don’t you know you should bow when you see the king?” a guard hollered from behind us, and I felt my body stiffen in shock.
Alpha king of Eliza?
Zira’s POVAlpha king of Eliza? “When did you get the right to bully my people? I called you here to lead the Luna of the Blood Moon packs to her hotel room,” Ronan’s voice rang out with a lot more command than when he had talked to us just now. The guard lowered his head a bit more while cupping his hands, “forgive me, your high…,” Before he could complete his words, Scarlett, who was standing next to Leah, fell to the floor with a loud thump that interrupted his speech. Her group immediately scattered as they watched her limp figure on the floor. The guards were faster instead, and two of them rushed out from the group of six and carried her away. As I watched her go, I remembered that she had boasted not too long about being selected to be a bride for the newly selected King. That was Ronan, right?!Leah looks just as shocked and keeps looking at Ronan with a dazed look; before I can even let myself process the news about his identity, I feel my wolf whining in me with fierce
Zira’s POVThe moment our lips met, it feltlike fireworks exploded within me. I had read it so many times. And felt it hadto be a lie. My first kiss with Killian had been okay. And yet, the real world was nothing closeto what the novelsmade it outto be. But with Ronan? It was my fairytalecoming awake, and I didn’t hesitate to grant him entrance into my mouth. He tasted like everything onecould call perfect! There was a splashof tequila and a minty-sweet flavor combination. There was also some third tastethat I couldn’t figure out as the loud chiming of a bell blared through everybuilding and broke the moment withhow loud it was. It was either just outside this door or high up somewhere toget to the palace. Ronan pulled away, and his handsmoved down to my arms as he tried to catch his breath. I was no better off. But withhim holding me, at the very least, my legs that felt like jelly didn’t win thebattle of having me flat on the floor. “I...I have to go. That bell s
Zira’s POVI had no idea what image my brain had conjured up when Ronan told me his Beta, Miles, was coming to pick me. But I was certain that image couldn’t resonate with you if you had been here with me. Miles was twice as huge as Ronan and just a little shorter, giving him a pretty intimidating look that had been backing me away the moment I pulled the door open for him. With a sly grin, he lifted his hands and said, “I don’t bite.” With a nod or perhaps a more emphatic shaking of the head, I gaze at his face and nod.A little bit of my fear evaporated as I realized that while his body and presence were overwhelming at first sight, his face didn’t seem that daunting and even made me feel like I could relax a little around him. “Ronan asked me to bring you over to the hall. Are you ready?” He asks and stretches his hands out. I nod but don’t raise my hand to him. Miles shrugs and chuckles at my refusal but still leads the way. With him leading the way, I realized that Ronan was r
“If I…” his words are broken by a familiar voice calling his name, and I looked behind him at the same time that Killian turned back to see Leah’s voluptuous figure walk up to us in her bright red dress.I had never been this happy to see Leah. And that had to be something.“Leah! Thank the goddess that you are saved!” I exclaim out of excitement and rush forward, planning to hug her, but I’m pushed back by Killian, who pulls her into a tight hug.“My sweet mate. I was almost scared that something had happened to you,” he crooned, then ran his hands on her back in circles.Memories of me being the girl in Killian’s arms flashed through my mind. But this time, they didn’t hurt.I had my mate now.“K...Killian… do... do you know how scary it was without you? I was all alone and got lost so many times,” Leah cried out, and I shot her a cynical look. She looked every bit fine with not a crease on her dress. It was hard to imagine that she had really been lost.Besides, she was right here
Zira’s POV I had never been one to likebeing touchy or anything of that sort. Despite how much Killian had wanted usto go all the way in our relationship, I had constantly refused. But somehow, around Ronan, I always seemed to lose any bit of restraint. “You should change,” I told him as I tried to step back. Henods and then starts to loosen all his buttons carefully. A part of me still felt guiltythat I had allowed his coronation to end with him having to jump in a pool tosave me, but I was grateful that he haddone that. I watch, entranced, as he pulls off the regalia, leaving a black shirt that wasglued to his body from all the dampness and heat. Earlier, when we met, he had been a lot more casual, but seeing him now with all his body outlines, it was easy to see that he wasone of those men that would look a lot slimmer when dressed. It was hard to look away fromit. Like every part of me seemed to want to reach out to him, I eventually pulled my gaze away. There was a
Zira’s POVI gasped in surprise as I watched myselfin the floor-to-ceiling mirror in front of me.The Royal Palace stylist certainly hadmagical hands,as I felt like my whole person had undergone some surgeries that humansloved to do so much. My hair was rolled up into ahigh bun with some curled tendrils framing myface while my make-upwas delicately done to highlight all of my features. The only thing wrong with all ofthese, with the stunning blue dress and the teardrop pearl necklace seated on mychest, and Ronan gifted, was that today, I was going to watch my mate getbetrothed to another woman. “Your beauty certainly has norival even in the capital,” Ana, the head stylist, says with an adoring smile as she looks at me through the mirror. “Thank you,” I mumble, notwanting to seem impolite. “If you are ready, I’ll lead youto the hall. Weare already quite late.” Itturns out Ana was correct; the entire buildingwas alive withmusic and conversation as soon as we steppe
Zira’s POVAtfirst, it seems like I’m the only one that notices as heads are bowed inreverence to him. But hell breaks loose the moment Ronan sits down, and theeunuchs permit us to be seated. One ofthe girls beside me nudged me in the waist with her elbow.“Whatpack are you from? Your father must be daring to have allowed you to use thesame Arlen-silk that our king has used,” she says with scorn, deliberatelymaking her voice loud enough for others to talk.“Ialready felt there was something about her dress the moment she sat down,”someone added from behind. And I wished I could understand what they weresaying more than anything.Arlen-silk?Seeing thatthe color and patterns were the same, I was more than certain that I would bein trouble. Yet, it appeared to be some unusual substance at this point.Whywould Ronan put me in such a spotlight on a day like this? The queendowager raised her glass and, with cutlery, tapped on it twice to get theattention of everyone in the ha
Zira’s POVI hadall the skills that the ladies here had, but at this moment, no one cared. Allthey knew was I didn’t deserve to be here, and that was all.Foronce, I felt like I was nothing more than a lowly and weak omega with all thegazes of the people in the hall.Iwatched from the corners of my eyes as I stood alone in the middle of the halland their whisperings. The queendowager raised her wineglass, and the hall descended into empty silence.“Thisyoung girl, can you introduce yourself?” In the already quiet hall, her voicewas loud and clear, and as I met her gaze, I could feel some pressure pressingdown on me.Isquared my shoulders a little but still avoided Ronan’s gaze.“Yourhighness, I am Zira Clark, the second daughter of the Beta from the Blood Moonpack.” I gave a little head bow to her as soon as I was done talking and wentback to looking at the intricately designed floor of the ballroom.“Youare from a third-tier pack. Can you tell me how you came to be here
RONAN’s POV"Zira ...I have said this before but I am so madly in love with you that sometimes, I just don't know what to do at all. I don't want to lose you. I want...I want to spend the rest of my life with you!" I told her. Zira smiled. She teared up a little but then laughed and shook her head. "I. I love you too, Ronan, more than you can ever imagine. I love you so much."My heart swelled. I had never felt this happy in my entire life. "You've just made me the happiest man in this life."Zira laughed, then leaned closer to me, staring at me straight in the eye and then at my lips. "Do you want a kid?" She asked with a sensual whisper.I smiled, but I was stunned by her words. "What?""A boy or a girl?" Zira whispered, biting down her lower lips as I tightened my grip on her waist."Both?" I asked, raising a brow."You sure?" Zira asked."Four?" I asked with wide eyes, and Zira burst into laughter."Are you being serious right now?" She asked."Well, you asked first, so yes," I
RONAN’s POVI ignored him and turned to Keith. "As for you, Keith, you are banished to Alva. You are never to leave there for the rest of your life, and if you do, I will kill you!". I said to Keith. Keith sneered at me. "Don't think that you won because you are the strongest Ronan! You only won because you hated our father and didn't let him affect your life!"Keith sneered at me."Yes! It's only because you stayed away from him! Otherwise, you would have ended up like this! You are no different from us!" Lucan told me. I shook my head at their reasoning. "You are right. I hated our father. And wanted nothing to do with him. But you see, I am not here just because I stayed away from me. I am here because I strived hard not to be like him. I hated that man and wanted nothing to do with him, and I made sure to make changes in my life. The rest of you just decided to take the wrong path! You deserve this!" I said.....It took me the entire day to deal with all of the remaining issues
RONAN’s POVI walked over to Miles, preparing to fight with him. I hated it when he said that I was not fit to be the Alpha and I wanted to prove to him and everyone else that it was a lie. "You don't have to do this, Ronan! He is just trying to rile you up on purpose! Don't fall for his trap! Miles already lost, but he doesn't want to admit that he has lost!" Zira called out to me. I knew that this could be a trap, but I am past the stage of caring at this point. I need to put him in his place. It was a long and hard fight between the both of us, and at some point, I thought that I was going to lose, but then I managed to knock Miles out. He tried to get him, but I pinned him to the ground, breaking one of his legs and then ending the fight with me as the winner. Miles glared hatefully at me, probably because he knew that he had lost. I am now the winner, and there is just nothing that he can do about that. I leaned in closer to him and whispered, "Do you now believe that I am
ZIRA’s POVMiles glared at Ronan, and I could tell that he was shocked and upset to see that Ronan was back. I was feeling a whole lot of emotions watching Ronan. I wanted to jump into his arms and hug him, I wanted to yell to everyone that doubted me that I wasn't wrong. I said that he was alive, and he really did come back alive. But I did not have the time to do any of this. Right now, there's a war in front of us. A war that we were starting to lose.A guard tried to attack me from behind, but I immediately turned and kicked him away from me. There were tears in my eyes as I fought out with the guard. I was happy and sad at the same time, and the tears just kept flowing. "Ronan, you should have just died! Everything was going perfectly fine! We had a good thing going on! Why did you have to come back?!" Miles yelled at Ronan. Ronan smirked as he approached him. "A good thing? Miles, you are just a thief who wants what doesn't belong to you. You were never supposed to sit on th
ZIRA’s POVMartha shook her head. "I didn't see it myself because I was too scared of going in," she said. "I think that we should give it a try, Kyle. We can never know," Peter said. Kyle sighed. "Fine. We are going to check. I just hope that it's there" Kyle said and the both of them left together."I just hope that they find it. We will be able to defeat Miles then," I said. Mom glared at me. "Can't you just leave this alone? Do you have to go this far?" She asked me. I nodded my head. "I have to go this far, Mom. I just can't ignore it. I can't ignore what he's done! He's controlling the Entire Kingdom! Everything in this Kingdom will be destroyed in just two years if we don't stop Miles now!" I said. I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself. "Mom, I trust that Kyle and Peter are going to find the spell. The spell is going to be broken soon, and there's going to be a war. I am not going to walk away from it. I just need to know if the both of you are going to help me!" I
ZIRA’s POVA spell that made it impossible for everyone to either shift or use their abilities! I laughed to myself. If Miles thought that this was going to stop me, then he had better think again. The good thing was, I knew this spell, and I knew how to break it. But first, I have to find my cousins and tell them about it. They need to know what is going on! .....I entered Maria's room and saw my mom pacing around the room. She glared at me as soon as I walked in. "I almost thought that you weren't going to come back! Why can't you just listen to me? No matter what I tell you, you have already told yourself that you're not going to listen no matter what! What is wrong with you?" She asked me. I wasn't in the mood to listen to her scoldings. "Do you know where Kyle and Peter are right now? I need to tell them something!" I said. I haven't seen him since they said they were going to take care of Antoine on their own. "Are you even listening to me? Miles could find you, and then
ZIRA’s POV"I am tired of falling about this Maria. I am not going to leave, and that's it!" I said. I was upset listening to her talk, so I walked out of the room. "Where do you think you're going, Zira? What did I tell you about staying away from Miles? Don't you listen to anything that I say at all?" She asked me. I pretended not to hear anything that she said and walked out. I know that I will have to see Miles and confront him myself at some point. I just can't keep running away from it. I have to face it. .....I was standing facing the palace's garden when I felt someone walking up to me. My heart was beating fast against my chest. I already knew who it was without turning back. It was as if I was waiting for this moment. "Who are you?" He asked. I turned to face Miles with a big smile on my face. "Are you surprised to see me?" I asked him. If my mom or Maria could see me right now, they are going to say that I am looking for death, but I know that I just can't ignore
ZIRA’s POVI turned to face my mom and frowned. No matter what they tell me, I am not going to believe that Ronan is dead. I know that he's not dead because I can still feel the mate bond between us. If I could not feel the pull, then I'd accept that he is indeed dead, but as for now, I can still feel as if he's alive, so there's no way that I am going to accept what they are telling me. "Are you even listening to me right now?! Zira! You have to leave! Miles is the one in charge now! He's not going to let you leave if he finds out that you are still alive! Are you sure that you want to take that chance?" My mother asked me. "Mom, I already told you. I am not going to leave. I have to at least wait for the full moon festival," I said. "Why do you have to wait for the full moon festival....don't tell me that you think he is still alive?! Zira! You need to stop being delusional! He's no longer alive! They killed him! Ronan is not coming back! I know that this is a lot for you to tak
ZIRA’s POVWe walked back into the city to realise that everything had changed. Antoine and his guards were still in my cousin's custody. My mother and I decided to go back to the palace to find out what had happened while we were away. Immediately we entered the palace, we went to look for Martha. She huffed me immediately when she saw me. "Zira! I thought I had lost you! I thought that I would never see you again! Thank you so much for coming back! Thank you!" She said to me, I hugged her back because I was happy to see her. "I thought that Antoine had won, but my mother and cousins showed up. I am just happy to be back!" I said excitedly. "I am just happy that you came back! The Kingdom...the Kingdom is not what it was when Ronan was alive. Everything.... everything has changed!" Martha said. "What has changed? I could feel as if the Kingdom was in trouble when I walked in. Everything was just quiet!" I said. Martha nodded her head. "Yes.. that is because it has changed. M
