Recovered memories

BELLA

As I stared at my startled mates, everything came rushing like an avalanche, threatening to swallow me. The memories I tried to deny, those Da Ankora spoke of, came back with a vengeance, almost taking my breath with it. I recalled all that happened when I was a kid, and how I was sent away from home when danger came knocking.

I wasn't human like I had always considered. I had a complicated background, one I wasn't very knowledgeable about. Mother was supposed to initiate me into the pack before they attacked us that night, prompting her to send me to the only place she guessed was safe for me. Earth.

“Bunny?” Blue's voice startled me from my thoughts.

I glanced up, wondering why he looked brighter. I was certain the room wasn't that bright when I lost consciousness.

Their blonde hair looked sun-kissed, almost golden, and his eyes. Fuck. They shone like emeralds. Sparkling, but not hurting the eyes. They looked different like I was seeing them through a new lens.
