Jaxon continued checking over my hands when Quinn and Xander left. The half moons from my nails had already healed but he was still wiping away the remnants of blood, taking his time. Making the most of me letting him touch me.

I hadn’t told him yet that I didn’t mind him touching me anymore. The little sparks on my skin brought me comfort, just as his scent did. But he was always respectful, asking my permission before doing anything. Or maybe he was afraid that I would freeze up like before.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” He asks me for the millionth time.

“It was because I was annoyed. But it’s healed, nothing to worry about.” I give him a smile and the gold in his eyes light up.

“Is it weird?” I ask quietly.

“Is what weird?”

“Finding out that Quinn is your father.”

“No weirder than you finding out you have a human mother.”

I hadn’t really had a chance to think about it. Or why the Beta’s had taken me from her. “Do you think the Beta was my father and that’s why they raised me?”
