chapter fourty seven

*Katherine POV

My heart shattered at his words, I tried to touch him and ask why the sudden hostility after we just mated last night but my lips was shut at his next words.

“I wished I had rejected you on the spot because then all theses people would have still been alive” he snarled at me.

Nathaniel scoffed, “you're pathetic and weak, so stupid”. His words made me look smaller as I saw other packmates snarling at me too. Everyone blaming me for the deaths.

Nathaniel's grip on my arm tightened, his fingers digging deep, as he dragged me up from the ground. My legs felt like jelly, unable to support me under the weight of his harsh words.

"I, Nathaniel Hawthorne, reject Katherine Danvers Thompson as my mate!" he screamed, his voice echoing through the devastated pack lands.

His eyes, once filled with love and adoration, now stared at me with emotionless contempt, as if I were dirt beneath his feet. The rejection cut deeper than any knife, slicing through my soul.
