Joana's POV
“Ma'am, Ma'am,” The lawyer tapped me, pulling me out of my endless thoughts. “Yes, did you say something?” I asked with my tear-filled eyes. “We wanted to know if you would like to sign first or we should proceed to the Alpha to receive his signature,” He answered. Realization hit me that I was still at my father's funeral. We had just finished burying him, and I was sitting by the staircase after they finished reading his will. “Does it matter? Give him to sign,” “But ma'am, we can't find him,” The lawyers said with a confused expression. The truth was that I was too tired to think about anything else. I knew my father's death wasn't an accident, and I intended to prove it. I wanted Dire to pay. “Send it to his beta, he will do the proper procedure,” I muttered as I stood from my seat and walked to Sasha who was sobbing terribly by the sofa. “Are you okay?” I asked softly, barely whispering. I couldn't find my voice, I seemed to have lost all my strength. “Yes. Are you?” There was no response for her question. How can I say no? I left him for five years, and the moment I brought my cursed ass back to his life, he died. I looked out the window, and I saw Lucien venting his anger on a tree with an axe. It's a technique my dad taught us. He claimed a person shouldn't pour his anger or frustration on his fellow but instead work his muscles until they were tired. “Did Dire come?” I asked, staring at every corner for any sign of him. “He did but he headed out some moments ago. Didn't you guys come here together?” “No, I had been sleeping here in the mansion,” I replied with a forced smile but I knew Sasha could see right through me. We turned to Lucien, who walked in, sweating profusely. “ There are some people who would like to see you in the dinning chambers,” He voiced, panting heavily. “I would hug you, but you reek,” Sasha said to him, causing a smile to appear on our faces. I left them and went into the dinning chambers. I walked in, and I was met with devious and fierce gazes. I recognized the men. They were part of my father's stockbrokers. “Can I help you?” I asked. “We are here to help you girl, so sit,” One of them instructed. His words made my stomach boil like steaming water. I was done with collecting orders from men and being bossed around. “Excuse me? I asked a question that has not been answered properly. You are in my house and I won't be told when to sit like a dog,” I didn't know what I said that triggered their amusement but they all burst into laughter. Their eyes almost popping out as they laughed heartily. “You think you have a sudden right to everything, just because your father died?” The biggest of them asked as the rest cussed and joked. “I don't understand,” “What he is saying is you can't lead. We prefer skinny Lucien to you. If you think we will let a barbie girl lead our organization to the ground, you must be sorely mistaken,” He replied with a smile and his mouth stuffed with food. His black clothes had food stains at every point making my disgust for him even way more intense. “So, you want me to lay back as you guys run the shot? Is that what you want?” “Oh yes. I almost thought you were dumb,” the big looking one replied again. Clearly, he was the one in charge of the weird coup they were trying to enact. “Ah! I know you!” I exclaimed with a smirk and a loud voice. “You are those peasants who take advantage of gullible CEOs. And you just thought you had just seen your biggest dummy. A girl forced into marriage and away for years.Perfect?” “We don't have time for this Thorson. You listen carefully, you run decisions through us f…” “Shut your stupid fat mouth!” I cussed angrily with a fierce look, cutting him short before he could finish the garbage he planned on vomiting. At that moment, I felt like plucking out his balls because they had no use other than to diminish the power of the female community. He had been gawking and staring at my boobs all through our conversations. “What did you just call me?” He asked in shock. “You might be a Thorson but you are not vulnerable,” I took a look at him and I decided to calm my temper. I won't disrespect my father's name because a couple of lowlife didn't know their place. “Get out,” I said. “What did you say little gir…” “Get the fuck put of my house!” I growled at him . “Can you repeat that?” He and his crew jested and burst into laughter. Suddenly their laughter stopped as they stared behind me with fright. Their jaws dropped, face flustered. “I can repeat it,” Dire said with a smile as he stepped into the room. His presence changed the tension of the room. They all stood to their feet as soon as he walked in. “My wife wants each and everyone of you to get out of her house,” “Alpha Dire! My name is Luca Fern…” “I don't care,” Dire spoke softly with a deep clear voice. “You all are dismissed from the building. Theo, see them out,” His beta stepped into the room with a sword in his hand and everyone in the room cleared out instantly. It was just the two of us. “Are you okay?” He asked with his hand behind his back. He appeared so calm and gentle but I knew he was far from innocent. “Thanks for coming,” I muttered swiftly and walked past him. “You should be cooperative, wife. After all, we will be sharing everything henceforth. Why the tension?” I had no response, instead I continued walking till i got to the front yard. There I stood and watched him step into his car and drive off. “Ma'am, there is a letter for you,” one of my workers approached me. I received it and it had the Armstrong's seal. I wondered if it was from him because why should it be, we had just spoke. I broke the seal and it read, ‘ See you at home wife.’ He wanted me to return to his mansion that day. The audacity, he didn't even have the courtesy to tell me to my face. Was I terrified? Yes. Was I going to obey? Over my dead body!Joana's POV At that moment, everything seemed slow. My entire flashed before my eyes in a second and just when I thought that was the end of me, I heard a swoosh sound. It came past me like a gust of wind and the next thing I felt was the hot scorching burn from the wolf's blood. I looked up at it and there was an ax sticking on to its head. My heart skipped a beat as I glared at the image. Out of fear, perhaps. “Joana! Get out of the way,” Theo yelled out to me. His voice startled me into turning to his direction and beside him was Dire, whose hand was still stretched out from throwing the ax. “Are you going to sit on the floor all day?” Dire asked with a smirk. With a fast reflex, I hurried behind them as they conered the wolf to the edge of the woods. “I don't know who you are or what you think you are going to achieve from causing this much turmoil,” Dire spoke with a deep and steady voice that echoed over the lake. “But you made a mistake, you screwed over the wrong man,”
Joana's POV “What are we going to do?” Sasha asked as I stared at the vast space. My head was spinning with plans but none of them ended well for me or my company. “We are linked directly to this bombing, Lucien,” I said softly. “How is this possible?”“It's not. This particular bomb is not out on the market. The military had not yet signed it off,” Lucien replied. “Then what the hell is going on?” I growled angrily, punching the wall with frustration. “Nice hook,” Dire muttered from the doorway, causing us to react in shock. “Can you excuse us?” I gave a nod sign and they left the room leaving me alone with Dire who was looking healthier. He wasn't wearing a shirt, flexing his biceps and abs in my face. “Your company's bomb did this?” He asked in a subtle tone, his gaze was cold as I fidgeted in shock. “No…yes, I don't know for sure,” I responded, looking away from him. “Joana, it's a simple question. Is your company responsible for the bomb?” He asked, this time fiercer.
Joana's POV “What happened?” Sasha asked, noticing the confused expression on my face. I felt a chill run up my spine as my shaking hand clenched to my phone. “Something is wrong,” I muttered softly, almost like a whisper. “What did he say?” Lucien asked curiously. “Joana, what did he say?” “Something is going on!” I panicked and hurried out of the news house. I had no intention on going on live television, just intended on testing out his bluff. Lucien and Sasha followed behind me and without asking questions, they hopped in the car with me. I was driving towards his company when I got an incoming phone call. “Sasha,” “On it,” Sasha answered the call and placed it on speaker. “This is Joana, who is this?” “Luna Joana, this is Doctor Tim from your General Hospital on West,” The subtle voice responded. “What can I do for you Doctor Tim?” “If you can, please come down to the hospital. The alpha had just been admitted,” With brute force, I stepped on
Dire's POV“What are you going on about?” I asked, crossing my hands and staring at the furious expression on her face. “You know exactly what I am talking about, Dire. You announced me as your Luna to shut me up,” She answered spitefully. Seeing her angry and frustrated caused a smile on my face.“You saw lines where there aren't any Joana. And it's becoming very funny,” “Funny?” She asked with an angry stare. She reached into her bag and pulled out a brown envelope. “What's that?” I asked. “Open it,” I grabbed it from her and tore it open. It was a photograph of Oregon and a black SUV. “What is this?”She chuckled hysterically before lashing out, “Don't pretend like you don't know what that is. That's you collecting the same sniper used to kill Chris from Elder Oregon.” “Joana, why will I kill a worker I didn't know?” I asked with a smile, trying to hide the rage burning up within me. “I don't know but I have evidence that you cohorted with Oregon and then killed him before
Joana's POV My life had become a chess piece where all the pieces were moved with precaution and I had just lost an important piece. “Are you okay?” His icy voice asked from behind, causing me startle in shock. “Fine. Is something wrong?” “There is a news conference today and I will like you to be there,” He said calmly with his hands folded behind him. His expression was as clear as day. “I have a meeting,” “Cancel, I want you there,” He pressed on, turned around to leave. His attitude, his countenance just fueled an anger within me. “You won. You played me,” “What?” He asked with a smile. “Don't play mouse with me. You knew and you played me into your hand,” A smile beamed on his face, chuckling maniacally while facing me, “I did nothing. You are the one seeing me like a villain,” “You orchestrated it, made me fall for it.” “Joana, I did nothing,” He commented warmly. He was unphased as he spoke. “I need you at the conference,” He added before tu
Joana's POV“How is he doing this?” I asked myself but voiced out loud. Lucien and Sasha both looked confused, sitting in my office with their faces buried in files and documents. “He orchestrated it, he wanted you to push Curly and her associates out.” Lucien concluded with a tired expression. “But why? Why go through all those troubles to pull them out?” Sasha asked softly, staring at the documents for any clue she could find. Suddenly her face beamed with satisfaction as she slammed her hands on the desk“If you have something, say it. No need to be crazy,” Lucien remarked. “Fuck you Lucien!”“Been there, done that,” Lucien replied her with a smirk. “Sasha, ignore him,” I said to her, noticing that her face had began turning red with anger. “He is trying to reduce your networth,” Sasha said as she handed me a bill poster. “Your company is number one in the entire Western hemisphere. But you are currently the richest in the pack,”“Yeah, my family had always taken the number
