Her heart was still panting and the few seconds she took to pull herself out of her shock was enough for her to give them the perfect headstart.

Before Hazel could catch up with them, they had already disappeared.

Hazel panted as she searched all around trying to find them but to no avail.

"Excuse me Sir, please have you seen a couple walk by this place some moments ago? " Hazel asked an elderly man sitting on the front porch of his house.

The man shook his head in answer.

Hazel searched for them as best as she could not find them.

The day was getting way too sunny and she needed a place to stay.

She had planned on just seeing her parents and then leaving that same day but now she had a new agenda at hand.

She wanted Asher and Maeve.

Seeing them today had ignited a feeling she had never felt before. She had hated Maeve ever since her betrayal and the hate had been so intense that all she wanted was blood but this new feeling she was talking about was greater than hate.

As her feet carried her body to Maeve's new place she couldn't help but feel the way her blood grew hotter by the second. So Maeve had moved on with her life like she never existed. Did they even hold a funeral for her? Did Maeve even regret her actions?Hazel clutched her dagger tight as she started seeing the white house on the horizon just ahead of her."It won't be long now," She whispered as she carried her head off her knife. Maeve was going to die and all the pain she felt would go away. She got closer to the house and her hatred grew even stronger as her eyes scanned the well-trimmed garden and perfectly inviting lawn.Everywhere was quiet except for the occasional singing of birds in the surrounding trees. A perfect place for a family picnic. One of the things she had always dreamed of. She had always wanted to have her own little family with her mate.By the moon, she wanted to be happy. But could she ever have that again?Maeve had snatched it all from her. She and her witc

A brunette Hazel walked out of the hair salon at midday in the next town. Changing her hair was the first thing she had done after getting into the next town. No longer was she a blonde with waist-length hair, but she had cut it to just below her shoulders. She had been so lucky she had left with her small bag containing her gourd and money when she was leaving her hotel room. If not, she would have been back to her sorry state. The aroma of freshly baked potatoes wafted onto her nostrils as she walked by a restaurant and her hungry stomach grumbled, begging for a piece of it but she declined. Sam was nearby and she could not risk wasting any time. She also did not want to be visible. The town was a small one and anyone could notice that she was not one of them. Except for the hairdresser though, but Hazel took care of that. She paid her handsomely to keep her mouth shut.Hazel's legs were tired of moving. She had spent the night running and had only taken a bit of rest in the hai

"Here you go," The lady from the counter said as she dropped a tray with a sweet aroma on the table in front of Hazel."Thank you," Hazel mumbled with her eyes on the tray before her.She was trying so hard to keep herself in check because all she wanted to do was dig into the food in front of her with her hands like a barbarian."You are welcome," the woman said and left.Hazel glanced to her right-hand side at the four people chattering at the table and when she saw that no one was paying any attention to her, she picked up her fork and started eating while her ears stayed glued to their conversation."I honestly wonder which Alpha is next," A tiny voice that sounded like it should belong to a six-year-old girl said. The voice was actually from one of the four people seated to Hazel's right and it was from a black-haired lady who looked nothing like a six-year-old, with her heavy makeup."You guys sound so delusional. There is nothing like a curse! Those two Alphas had a beef with

Alpha Aidan's Manor sat on a large piece of land and there was no way Hazel could have missed it with its heavy gates and high walls. It was a good thing she had come prepared because almost every square inch of land around the Manor was heavily guarded.'I have become a terror indeed,' Hazel thought with a proud smile on her face as she approached the gates of the Manor. Her feet took sure, confident steps and she did not even have an ounce of nervousness in her. After two impersonations and killing, this was starting to feel like home to her."Good evening officer," Hazel said to a uniformed man at the front of the gate. His uniform bore the emblem of the grey wolf which she had been seeing throughout the town and had suspected was their emblem."Good evening, state your business," The officer replied without a smile. She wondered how he was able to be polite and still impolite at the same time. It must have been a gift."I am here to see the Alpha," she said."For what reasons?" Th

The eyes of the three females were fixed on the woman on the stairs. The lady who had been chasing the little girl stopped trying to get her and instead stood with her hands held together in front of her in what looked like fear to Hazel. The little girl had also stopped struggling but little giggles still escaped from her lips."Penelope? What have I said about how princesses behave?" The lady on the stairs asked as she took the stairs one after another in the most beautiful way.Hazel watched her with awe. She never knew that the way someone walked could be as enchanting as this. It was like the woman was gliding and not walking. The little girl's giggles came to an abrupt stop at the words of the woman.Hazel was totally oblivious to the girl who was still on her body as she was fixated on the woman who she suspected to be the girl's mother. The woman got to the end of the stairs and walked to where the three females were."Do I have to remind you of what you should be doing?" "I will take you to your room now," A new maid said to her the moment she concluded her interview. Her room was on the ground floor of the two-storey building and it was situated at the far corner of the house. The first thing Hazel noticed as the maid in front of her threw the door open, was the huge chandelier that hung from the center of the ceiling.Hazel stared in awe at the room which was larger than an average-sized room. It was fit to belong to a royal guest and not a worker like her.Luck was truly shining down on her. When she walked into the room, her eyes roamed around finding it hard to take in the beauty of the room all at once. There was a set of beautiful dark brown cushions arranged in the center of the room, with a king-sized bed that had purple bedding on it. It was almost as beautiful as her room back home."The bathroom is over here," The maid said as she walked towards a door Hazel had not yet noticed.Hazel nodded her head to show she acknowledged what she was s

There was ringing in Hazel's ear. It was so loud, she thought she was dead for a moment. She actually hoped she was dead and had only just hallucinated the words she had just heard.Hazel could see her maid's face in the mirror. Her freckled face looked eagerly anticipating an answer as her hand moved up and down carefully brushing Hazel's hair with exaggerated attention.Hazel was starting to smell something fishy. Her heart beat so fast and so loud she wondered if the maid could hear.It was now it all dawned on her. It was all a trap. She had been lured to her capture. She should have known all of these were too good to be true. Her dagger was underneath her pillow. She had stashed it there. She made a mental picture of where exactly it was placed so that if the need arose, she would quickly run over and grab it.She was not going to hesitate to use it. She never had and she was not going to now especially on the bloody bastard, Sam.There was no way she was going down without a f

"The doom. It's here," The maid said with a voice that was distorted with fear as she leaned on Hazel.Hazel's arms were fast enough to stop her from falling to the ground. It was ironic since Hazel's hands had actually been raised to push the maid to the ground but she ended up using it to help her.Hazel had decided she was going to push her to the ground and blame it on some innocent ghost, but something else came up.A scream. The scream had riled up her already nervous mind and the gush of adrenaline that had surged through her had helped Hazel save the maid —who had been so nervous that when she heard the scream, she lost her footing and tripped."What is happening?" The maid asked, her body totally taken over by fear.Hazel wished she knew. She gave the maid no answer as her ears were trying so hard to decipher what the scream was for.All she could hear was the shuffling of feet as it sounded like multiple people were scurrying around. She could also hear whimpering and tense

"No!" Hazel's screams resonated through the walls of the midwives' workshop. Against their will, the midwives had lain Hazel on the worktable and had tied her limbs down to the table. One of the midwives took a cloth and started to stuff it into Hazel's mouth to muffle her screams. "Leave her mouth free. I want to listen to her screams," Raglan's cold voice echoed in the room, stopping the midwife. "Please Raglan! You can take my life but let this child live! He is innocent! Please!" Hazel pleaded with Raglan. "I should let the bastard child live?" Raglan chuckled. "I am putting an end to the lives of all the bastards in that family. Including the whore that dared bear him a child," Raglan said with such contempt his face contorted with disgust. Tears spilled down Hazel's face. She couldn't breathe. She knew this was likely going to be her end, but she had hoped she could escape. But she refused to give up on her son. Hazel continued to beg, offering her life in exchange for

But all of these were difficult for her, especially since she had to avoid Raglan's mother by all means.Hazel had tried her possible best to steer clear of her. She knew that she hated her and she made sure she never had anything to do with her.But Raglan's mother made it her duty to be in Hazel's business. She found excuses to be around Hazel and to be part of her life and though Hazel tried her best to avoid her, it was not possible. As she finished her training with her instructor that day, Hazel slowly made her way to her room to rest but as she took the final bend, Raglan's mother immediately appeared

"What?!" Hazel squeaked, her face confused as to what she had just heard.Raglan held her by the shoulders his face lit up with a joy that she never believed could exist in the realm of darkness. He shook her as if to wake her from something."Hazel! We are in love! We now have a child on the way! All that's left is for us to get married!" Raglan said trying to connect some imaginary dots.Hazel knew she could not do this. She had endured the past weeks pretending to like him. Getting married to Raglan was going to the extreme and she was not sure she could survive it.With the same speed with which his face had lit up, the joy on his face dimmed out and a sadness replaced the light."You don't want me?" Raglan asked his voice pricking Hazel with the amount of pain that was in it.Hazel sighed. She knew this was not going to be easy. For her to secure what was hers, it was required of her to make certain sacrifices and this was one of them. With a weak smile that did not even touch he

Over the next few days, Hazel and Raglan's relationship blossomed.Raglan was so happy and he made sure everyone knew about him and Hazel –including his mother.Hazel was still trying to wrap her mind around how she became a girlfriend to the prince of death. The person who had taken away the joy from her life.Hazel had not factored a relationship between her and Raglan into her plans. She had envisioned a totally different trajectory for her plan and she was not happy with the way things were going.Raglan made sure she spent half of her day with him. He tried to make her move to his room but Hazel refused.Staying with Raglan meant she would have to have sex with him and that was something she dreaded happening. She however had been forced to be intimate with him. They cuddled in bed together before bedtime, and they kissed quite a lot –although she tried to find ways to avoid kissing him there was only so much she could refuse for her plan to really work. She did everything intend

Hazel spent the next twenty minutes thinking and rethinking her plan. 'What if it fails?' she asked herself. She knew that was a useless question to ask herself. She knew exactly what would happen if her plan failed. But there was no way she was going to back down. She placed her hands on her belly, rubbing it. She had to take the risk for the child's sake and his father's. With that in mind, Hazel got up and marched to the bed where Raglan lay lost to the world. He looked much more beautiful in sleep and he looked much less like the evil bastard that he was. Hazel looked at the left side of his chest. She knew he had no heart but she wished he had one so that she would have the satisfaction of impaling his heart just as how he had made her do so to all those Alpha's just for his selfish reason. Raglan was lucky she did not know how to send him to hell, she would have done it there and then. Rather, she got on the bed and started to try and take off his black tunic. It was no

There was no possible way she was ever going to be able to make it out of the place without being caught moreover she was stuck there in fear. The blood that had been running past her legs started to flow faster. The chants from the demons grew frantic and the symbols on her body started to grow brighter and brighter making her body look like it had been set on fire.Hazel could feel a terrible presence in the room one which was more terrible than all the demons put together. "When you said the entire realm would be present did you mean it?" Hazel asked Raglan as soon as Persia landed in front of the four walls.Raglan turned and looked at her dropping the reins. He could see fear spread all over her face."No, I didn't mean it literally," Raglan said to her. "Those who will be in attendance at the banquet are only royalty and those who matter. The rest will be celebrating it at other places."Hazel nodded, her anxiety was a tad bit relieved by his explanation."Shall we?" Raglan asked and he held out his free hand.Hazel nodded then took her hands off the chariot where she had been holding tightly for her dear life. Her legs were still wobbly from her experience but she willed herself to stand steady. The ride had been a bumpy one and many times, Hazel's stomach threatened to hurl out the contents of her stomach but she fought to keep it down. She clasped her hands once more in front of her and Raglan took ahold of her elbow guiding her down the chariot.

"You look so beautiful," Raglan said looking at her with eyes that were full of admiration."Thank you," Hazel said with a warm smile."So do you," She added and her comments were more than just mere flattery. Raglan looked really handsome even though he was dressed in intimidating attire. He had swapped his usual cloak for a tunic, black as night. Underneath the tunic, he wore what looked like chain mail armor, and in his left hand was a scepter that was shaped like a scythe, one very similar to the grim reaper's.There was something in Raglan's eyes as she looked at him. It was a look she had seen before but not on Raglan and it was weird that he had that look in his eyes as he looked at her.Her heart made a little flutter and she had to caution herself to keep her cheeks from reddening. She had to stay focused. The life of her child depended on it.Raglan also tried his best not to look into her eyes. That was very strange as he had never for once been timid before her or anyone

Hazel had lost track of time as she lay on the bed while her body was tattooed with a bunch of symbols she could not decipher. She had spent the time drifting in and out of sleep and when she woke up the last time, she was shocked to see that they had only even covered the front her neck to chest area, and her arms.It was now she understood the maid's issue about time. She wondered why just drawing figures will take so much time. She decided to glance down at what they were doing so she tilted her head down. When she did, she felt a sense of foreboding come over her.Something in her grew cold as a strong feeling of fear seized herAlthough she could not decipher the symbols drawn on her body, she knew that they were something extremely evil."What are these?" Hazel asked her voice more of a whisper."These are the truths of ancient times," The maid said, her voice very quiet as if in reverence to the symbols.Hazel did not know what she said but she did not ask further. She moved a
