Stellan's POV

I lower my voice into a dark and husky tone. “What makes you so sure that I wouldn’t devour you instead?”

Her body goes stiff and she darts her eyes nervously.

“B-because you’re not a bad person.” She intends it as a statement but it sounds like a question. Like she wants me to confirm my harmlessness to her.

“Now whatever gave you that idea, sweetheart?” I shoot her a grin that does not reach my eyes.

She shivers slightly at my words but quickly hides her fear. I see through her facade and snort in disbelief. She's brave, but there's no need for her to pretend to be unafraid around me.

She's nothing like I've ever seen. Every new movement she makes captivates me. It's as if she has cast a spell on me, affecting me in a way that no other woman ever has.
