Chapter 5

With her being the game changer and the master of the game, she’s decided not to take it slowly on the two traitors

She stared at Sophia shyly as she watched her dazzling at Anthony’s beauty. It took the clearing of Rayne’s throat for Sophia to leave Anthony’s hand. She saw how Sophia immediately adjusted herself as she stared stunningly at Anthony’s face and that was how it began.

“Okay, so if you wouldn’t mind. I was about to step out for lunch, can you come along?” Rayne asked, leading the way already.

“Oh! A dinner with my Luna? That’ll be awesome, I'd really love that” Anthony exclaimed, oblivious of Sophia’s dazzling eyes on him.

Sophia just couldn’t wrap her head around this man’s warmness, she felt heavenly around him.

“What about you Sophia? Would you come?” Rayne asked, already knowing what her answer would be.

“Errm…I couldn’t get you Rayne…oh! For the dinner, I won’t be able to join you. I have a ball to attend to…” Sophie said, already getting misplaced.

She watched as the duo burst into laughter immediately, she stood akimbo wondering what was funny in her statement.

“Hey Dear! No one was talking about a ball, our Luna obliged us for a lunch… she asked if you’d love to join us?” He exclaimed, secretly admiring her.

“Oh that. Sure I’d come along Rayne, I’d come…but I think I need to take a shower and change up” Sophia said as she was really not calm and breathing fast.

“Relax Sophie, calm down, no one is viewing you. Anthony here is my friend, so are you. And there’s really no cause for change of clothes?” Rayne asked, surprising her with her statement

Sophie on the other hand really thought she would be allowed to go, Rayne has been acting a little tougher these days. She thought’

“Yeah, I’m really getting tougher now you get” Rayne cut through her thoughts.

“Huh” Sophie staggered, did she just read through her mind, Rayne chuckled giving Rayne an evil grin as she continued her discussion with Anthony 

“I can see you’re getting more stronger and chummy My Luna, I’m happy you’re strong now” Anthony chuckled as he opened the door to the dining hall.

The maids were done serving the dishes as Rosa was surprised to see Rayne coming in with guests, she immediately stepped in to remind her of the Royal rule.

“My princess…it is against the custom of……” She stopped seeing the eye signal Rayne gave to her to shut her up.

She beckoned on the other maids as they all left the dining hall giving Rayne a nod to her order.

Rayne smiled as Rosa got wind of what she was saying, she knew it wasn’t right for her to bring in guests to dine with her in the Royal hall, but as the master planner that she is, she decided to break some rules for her to play her games well.

Anthony drew out a chair for her as he beckoned on her to sit, but she surprised him more as she refused and went ahead to sit elsewhere leaving two chairs as spaces in between them.

Anthony was surprised, he was expecting a compliment from her or rather for her to politely decline but her cold attitude alerted him.

The dishes were all royal dishes as they all sat round the table ready to devour the sumptuous meal before them. Rayne decided to act a little choked up to see what they’re act would be. So she took a cup of water, gulped it down in a rush as she was choked up.

She spilled the water on Anthony’s shirt, making him feel irritated as his shirt became stained. Since he was in a royal hall he couldn’t really act, he rushed to Rayne to help her in getting a napkin but he was stopped by the yank of her hands.

“Don’t worry, I’d be fine” She said as she stopped him with her hands

“My Luna, but you…”

“I just told you I’m fine…” Rayne snapped, getting on her feet as she rushed to the palace bathroom.

Anthony in turn was surprised as he meant no harm but Rayne had taken it for a big deal. He resumed eating his dish whilst he kept on stealing glances at Sophia who was unperturbed with Rayne but kept on savoring Anthony’s handsomeness.

Rayne’s POV

Immediately Rayne walked into the bathroom, she opened the tap as she splashed the water on her face, relieving her of her hiccups.

“Anthony thought I’m stupid huh? He thought I would fall for his trick, nope. I’m way more wiser than that, I’m not stupid.” She thought

Rayne’s mind flashed back to her previous life, she grinned wickedly as she remembered what happened in her previous life when she was choked up eating her then.

** *FLASHBACK** *

“Oh! Take care my Luna, calm down. Take this water” Anthony handed Rayne a glass of water as she gulped it down in a hurry.

“Thank you, thank you very much…you’re ama…” She stopped in between her words as she stared at Anthony’s eyes.

Rayne’s POV

Words could never comprehend the glint of emotions I saw in Anthony’s eyes, his eyeballs sparkled with some light that sent some cool feeling down my lungs. My heart was beating very fast as I could see the love in his eyes.

“My Luna, are you okay now?” Anthony asked, placing his hands on her shoulder as their eyes met.

“Yeah, I’m…I'm…I’m good” She stammered as she took her eyes off his lips.

“Here Rayne, this should help in relieving you of the cough” Sophia said, cutting in between them. She gently removed Anthony’s face from her.

“Anthony, you should get her a napkin. The Luna would be in need of that” Sophia said, trying to distract Anthony from Rayne.

“Yeah, I would get that. Where is the path to the royal kitchen?” 

“Just walk down the corridor, you would see a maid. She should direct you there” Sophia gave an answer.

She stared at Anthony who hurriedly passed through the corridor. 

“My Luna, are you okay now?” 

“C’mon Sophie I was just choked up nothing more, y’all are acting like it’s a big deal” Rayne asked naively.

“No not that dear, you mean a lot to us.” Sophie commented, making Rayne give a chuckle “I already warned Rose against adding too much spice, she just wouldn’t listen, I al…”

“No, leave Rosa out of this. She’s incredibly nice, she’s the best if I must say, I was just choked up and it’s nothing odd.” Rayne muttered, resting her head on the chair beside Anthony’s seat, giving Sophia a stare.

“Why not go check out Anthony, he ought to be back” Rayne said to Sophia, taking a piece of the chunk meat before her.

"Oh Yeah,” Sophie grinned, as she bounced along the corridor.

“Okay, so what about the hand towel set, I mean the royal one?” Anthony asked, beckoning on the maid who led him to the kitchen. 

“You can check around there, there’s a special one for her” 

“Oh! I see, there’s a special hand towel for th e Luna?” Anthony asked.

“Sure, she’s a different wolf, she should be treated with difference.” The maid chuckled.

“Whoa! I’m really impressed, but if you don’t mind, I really have a question to ask as regards the Luna, can you help?” Anthony asked, taking a glass to fetch water in to.

“What’s that?” The maid asked, seeming interested.

“A rumor was spread across the kingdom of the Maroon pack Lycan coming to be mated with the Luna, how true is that?” 

“Well, I’m really not obliged to leak the kingdom secrets to outsiders or strangers” the maid said, giving a crazy chuckle.

“And are you aware of whom you’re referring to as a stranger?” Sophia asked, stepping into the kitchen hall.

“My Lady! It’s not……”

“Would you get off my front, or I’ll split your mouth into two now” Sophia said with a stern warning as the maid hurriedly left the kitchen leaving only her and Anthony.

“Oh! That’s really no cause for alarm, all things being good I really should not be asking that as a…”Anthony said as he was cut short by Sophia’s act.

“No, that’s not a problem…you really should know about it” Sophia said, placing her hand on Anthony’s chest.

Anthony noticed her action and decided to take advantage of it to get what he wanted.

“So what’s it with the Lycan Mating with Rayne is that true?” Anthony asked, looking deep into her eyes.

Sophia was a little disturbed to have Anthony ask that question, he knew Anthony was really falling head over heels with Rayne and she hates that.

**** **** **Sophia’s POV **** **** ** ** *

Why does Rayne seem to get all the good things of life really, she has been the one to truly attract the goodies of life leaving her, her childhood friend to few things or literally nothing.

She remembered even when she was about to be made the Luna, the title ought to fall on her. But she hijacked that again and now Anthony.

*** BACK TO PRESENT ***

“You’re not saying anything Sophia?” Anthony asked again, staring deeply into her face “What’s wrong, you seem far away?” He asked again, this time touching her chin.

“Nothing, just that I notice Rayne is really not going to be a good mate even to the Lycan King” Sophia bellowed, ignoring the look on An thony’s face.

“Huh? Why did you say that? Rayne seems to have a good personality, she’s a superb Luna I’m sure…” 

“Then leave her to do her thing…” Sophia fired, startling Anthony himself.

Anthony knew something was wrong with Sophia’ s response, and he decided to act a little flirty.

“Come b aby girl, you can’t be this naïve uhn, c’mon what’s up with Rayne and the Lycan King?” Anthony asked wrapping his arms round Sophia’ waist

“Nothing, but why are you concerned with Rayne is anything the problem? You seem to have affection for her isn’t it?” Sophia asked, this time bringing her body close to Antony’s

“Nothing much dear, don’t I deserve to know?” Anthony answered, this time he had already placed his both hands on Sophia’s ass he began to rub his hands around it, making Sophia drip for him the more.

Sophia stared into his face as if to ask him if she could trust him, she loved the way he wrapped his arms around her waist and even on her ass. She stared into his eyes more, then down to his hands as he squeezed it more.

“Rayne happens to have a tough personality, she has……”

“Sophia! ! !” 

“Sophia ! ! !”

Sophia was cut short from her narration by the loud calling of her name from Rayne who seems to be walking directly to the kitchen.

“What’s keepi ng you so long?” Rayne asked, walking into the kitchen.

“Nothing Rayne, the maids were on another thing, so I had to call them to order, they were not in their line of duty…” Sophia lied, in order to cover up.

“Not in their line of duty, but I saw Rosa and the others who said you were with Anthony in the kitchen hall…” Rayne asked, not convinced.

“Actually, I came with…”

“It’s nothing My Luna, she saw the maids chit chatting and she probably scolded them…it’s really nothing” Anthony said as he came to her rescue.

“Here is your napkin, I love the design tho…its picture looks real” Anthony said, handing over the royal hand towel to her. The designs on it looked colorful with a pack symbol signifying the title Rayne held. The Luna.

“Oh! Thanks. My Mom weaved it, she did an awesome job on that” Rayne answered, blushing

“I see, you would have more of the designs I’m sure” Anthony giggled.

“Sure, come over let me show you” Rayne beckoned

“After you my Luna” He said, as he pointed his hands forward in a motion to lead the way.

He could feel Sophia’s hand on his beckoning on him to wait, but he had to…his mission was more than flirting with a mere palace girl.

“Sophia, you should come over too” Rayne’s voice echoed in the corridor as it jerked Sophia up.

**SOPHIA’S POV”

His hand is so soft, tender and smooth. I wish he held my ass for lon g…

I wonder why that good for nothing Luna would have to disrupt this blissful moment, oh! His handsome face, I could bet that face would win the competition of the most handsome men in the world. How he squeezed my ass.

I really have to get him, yes. Rayne can’t just have this dude all to himself, he’s to pure for her evil intentions. I’d have to get him.

With this she left the kitchen hall as she proceeded to the garden where Anthony and Rayne were checking out the palace exhibitions.

***BACK TO PRESE NT***

Rayne’s POV

“No, I can’t let this all happen again. I am the master planner now and I’ll make sure they all squint at my rage” Rayne thought out aloud, as she stared into the bathroom mirror with her eyes all red and her claws drawing out sharp.

“My Luna…My Luna…are you alright?” Anthony called as he walked into the bathroom corridor.

“Oh! I’m fine, just decided to stay here for a while” Rayne said, adjusting her self as she clenched her fists trying to hide her claws.

“You decided to stay at the toilet all alone. My Luna is everything well…?” Anthony asked, as he began to walk towards her.

“I just told you everything is fine, why the stress?” Rayne voiced out in a tone that sounded pissed.

“No problem then, I’d be at the hall”

With this, Anthony walked out of the bathroom, he seemed perplexed with Rayne’s attitude to him all this while…he never seemed to get the reasons for her adamant attitude.

“Scum, I wonder why he still cares after all, he looks so simple and cool…but I’m sure his fierce nature would be hidden somewhere deep in him” Rayne thought as she paced around the toilet.

“Or, was I not meant to shout at him that way, he looks too calm…was I meant to listen to him and give him a calm edge, probably I should have left him anyways or attended to him nicely” Rayne thought, still pacing around but this time holding her head as if to correct her self for her mistake

“Won’t he have gotten the idea of me trying to break through his identity? Fvck! ! ! ! … … this is a damn mistake” Rayne began, sitting slowly on the toilet basin roll.

“I guess, I just have to make up for my mistake…I should play along now…let me go get them. '' Rayne said, she walked out slowly from the bathroom and walked in to the dining hall, but she was taken aback by what she saw……

She never expected it
