Ivan and Azalea are back. I knew it was coming, it’s been stressing me out but there is nothing I can do now. I just have to hope Azalea doesn’t calculate I'm having more visions. As far as possible without being obvious, I need to keep her out of my way. At least I finally have a reason to enjoy all those administrative meetings.

I silently watched them arriving from out of the library window. They practically bounced out of their jeep, hand in hand as euphoric as a freshly mated couple should be. Ivan seemed a whole new man, a smile permanently plastered to his face which made my heart warm.

Then I observed Azalea slyly checking upwards along the castle walls. She was trying to see if I was at my suite window looking out for her. I was watching, but I’d chosen another room on purpose.

So she wasn’t completely focused on Ivan, Fyre growled. She is trying to spot you, she's got something on her mind for sure.

“Azalea told me over a mind-link. She had just mated with Ivan, and everything was so happy. Then your father collapsed, and she bragged to me about what she had done.” “But why didn’t you tell me?” he urged, the emotion clear in his voice, despite his calm face. “Because it was too much, you had only just come back into Royal life, every time I tried to find a chance to tell you in weeks after was impossible. You were grieving and in pain yet trying to organise a funeral and a coronation…I just wanted to take care of you.”“I would have had her on the East Wall that same night,” he uttered darkly. “I know, but that won’t stop Alpha Francis. With her alive at least we know the vessel he is using to try and get to us.” “Is this why you insisted Ivan was sent to Five Lakes, to get rid of Azalea?” “Yes,” I answered guiltily, forcing my eyes up to meet his though my vision was blurred with tears. “I thought if she was out of the way I could come up

I woke up in a panic, my dreams had turned from Bram deliciously kissing me on a bed, caressing my skin, slowly pushing down the straps of my top, to me suddenly dropping into a black, never ending hole. It was one of those dreams where you wake with a thud in your bed and your heart pounding. In my case, I headbutted a log as I juddered back into life. I groaned loudly in pain and rubbed my head, trying to work out what kind of time it must be. The fire Lucien lit had almost died out, probably for the best. We don’t need it in the morning, and it would only draw attention to our camping position if I rebuilt up to a blazing cosy warmth. Sitting up whilst the pain in my head throbbed away, I brought up my knees and hugged them close to me. I didn’t enjoy dreams involving Bram anymore, too often they turned mean. When it was my own imagination, my daydream I got to pick the memories to dwell. When asleep, my deepest memories seemed to unfold from hidden recess

If Lucien knew anything about my messing with him during the night, he didn't let on at all. I noticed him being slightly less flinty than normal as we started another day's trek. As per his instructions, I waited patiently behind a pile of craggy boulders for an hour on the outskirts of a town for him to return with food. Just as I started to panic that he had abandoned me completely I heard that familiar sound of his heavy boots on gravel. We had walked together so much I knew his footsteps as uniquely as his voice. It was strange to feel my spirits lift at the sound of someone's boots. Probably because I was so pleased, he hadn’t run off and left me, which made me feel guilty, after all, he had committed to the journey even after knowing he was the one wanted in Silver City. All they wanted from me was my head on a stick. We feasted once more on rich cheeses, meats, and milk. The strength returning to my body after so long on reduced food made me feel unus

The cave was not as bad as it could have been. Thankful it wasn’t full of bats for a start, the floor was mainly flat rock, smoothed by years of water flow with a jutting ledge forming a narrow bench of sorts. However it was narrow, as the rain started to pelt down, we were in a space no larger than a king-sized bed. Considering Lucien was the size of a bed on his own, it was going to put us a lot closer than we had expected. I let out a giggle as he had to move around awkwardly, giving up and dropping to his knees to manoeuvre around the space. He shot me a raised eyebrow of disapproval at my mockery, though I think a smile was hiding there too. He unfurled his cloak and placed it on the floor, from his rucksack he removed his spare shirts and trousers to fashion into makeshift cushions to sit on. I sat on a stone ledge that ran along the edge of the wall to give him some extra space. In just my black trousers, tank top and leather jacket, I started shivering with t

Stood alone in the cave with just the dying light of day and the smattering of rain to accompany us, I started to pull myself together. His arms wrapped around me entirely and he slowly released his bear grip on me to hold me more normally with his hands on my back. He softly rubbed up and down my back, consoling me.“I am sorry if I upset you with my past,” he whispered gently. His hand kept riding up and down my spine, pressing his warmth into my soaked skin.I pressed my head into his chest and listened to his heartbeat.“It is not your past that upsets me, it's mine” I managed to whisper back. As another lightning bolt cracked through the sky he instinctively squeezed me even closer to him. “I’m getting you soaked now sorry.”“Don’t worry about it,” he hushed, one hand slowly wrapped around my lower back, resting on my hip bone now. The other was still travelling up and down between my

The last few hours were some of the unhappiest of my life. I had always assumed that I was the one keeping secrets, never had it even crossed my mind that he could be keeping some from me. We had never argued before, as I absent-mindedly pulled on a long flowing red gown, a square cut at the chest and long sleeves, I struggled to calm down. My dramatic brown curls were loose and blowing wildly as I paced about the room.I had always assumed we never would find ourselves like this. This is how you build on your mate bond Fyre urged, getting out of this as one.Fyre had certainly matured in the past year. Before she would suggest I turn rogue, run for the hills, and start again like an impetuous teenager. Now it was like having a wise old sage living in my head. I felt Fyre bristle at the comparison, you should try listening to me then, was her annoying response.Internally I raged at Fyre about how angry I was, how long it's been going on, getting silence b

I didn't have long to wait. He continued nipping at my neck, his hand slowly trailed up my thigh. As his delicate touch wandered up the soft skin of my bare legs it left behind a trail of hot, tingling skin. Still holding my arms up against the wall he watched me, loving my reaction as his fingers finally met my centre and released the pent-up wetness. He quickly started stroking my clit with his thumb, his eyes never leaving mine. "What would you have you said, Helena? If I'd done this to you back then," in a low deep rumble of a voice. "I'd have asked for more," I breathed, squirming against his grasp. I let out a little squeal of happy pleasure as he quickly hoisted one of my legs around his and thrust two of his large fingers deep inside me. "Thought so," he whispered into my ear as he went back to kissing my neck. His fingers worked their magic inside me. Teasing me, drawing the pleasure out of me like a snake charmer he built me up to a

Natasha. After hearing her name emerging from Lucien's dreamy state I had sat in shock for a while. Every burgeoning fantasy in which I could be seen as something more, by someone other than Bram was shattered. Instead, I felt a new level of foolishness.Natasha...the name circled my mind, taunting me. At best perhaps a relative, at its worst a lover, a mate even. But that "Natasha...please," was so desperate, he was dreaming of a woman he was desperate for.As soon as he'd said that I lifted my hand away, clearly no longer the right thing to be doing. But then his groaning and pain started again. Through the odd flashes of lightning, I could see how close he was to smashing his face against the stone ledge in our tiny cave.Reluctantly I placed my hand back on his neck, wondering what was the right thing to do. Eventually, I managed to lie down close to his softly sleeping, snoring body with my hand resting upon the top of his chest.

FOUR YEARS LATERThe softly lapping river is a constant source of joy. It gives the small family within all they need. Fresh drinking water cleans their clothes and bodies. Little Zena, a black-haired bundle of energy loves creating boats out of anything she can get her hands on, green eyes with a cat-like tilt sparkling as she works. Her little brother Finn is more reserved, he can spend hours laid beside the river, the gentle sounds of the brook helping his imagination wander into the far-off lands of adventure he hears his parents talking about.Their parents were doting and kind. At night they would pack them into their big, shared bed, the duck feather mattresses and pillow cushioning them softly, and tell them tales of daring adventures. How on their motorcycles they had travelled hundreds of miles to the very

The familiar little cottage with the bent chimney soon came into view. My stomach churned but I tried to clamp down on my worries for Lucien. He knew what he was doing, my sending him waves of panic was hardly going to help.We pulled up outside the cottage and he sat for a minute with his head down breathing deeply. Hopping off the bike and taking my helmet off I slowly wandered down the crooked path towards the door. I had last knocked on this door living under Bram’s shadow, Gitte hiding in the wings. Padgett and whatever it was she could do was our best chance at getting some closure on the pain Lucien was suffering. The door slowly opened, and that familiar face reappeared. The chunky, clanging jewellery and grey eyes were the same. Her Wispy auburn hair scattered around her face like a misshapen crown and if anything she had become even plumper. She

Marked. Finally I had everything I ever wanted.Lucien's eyes went to the sky as he struggled to contain his pleasure. The base of his cock had swollen like a plug clamping us together. Every tiny movement rubbed my clit against it.After all the pleasure he had given me the tables were suddenly turned. Now knotted he was the one who could be pleasured no end. His eyes shot to mine as I rocked my hips. I think he thought I'd have nothing left.To be honest three earth shattering orgasms and I should have been out for the count. But that mark, being given that seemed to be a recharge and now all I wanted was to watch that handsome bastard lose it all over again."Bella," he said in a warning voice."What?" I had her right where I wanted her. Naked, the firelight bouncing off her immaculate body and all mine. She fully deserved this, all afternoon my cock had been in agony against the saddle of the bike.I'd sped up, swerved, slowed down to let her overtake me trying to think of anything to get her mind off my dick. The past few days have been unreal. It's a strange sensation allowing all this love and adoration to seep into my bones. She was everything, her grey eyes sparkling and laughing as she whizzed by in the sunshine. But right now, here in the moonlight she was all mine. Her quivering, shaking body was already wracked with pressure. Just my fingers probing inside her gave me fireworks, watching her jerk to my command made my dick twitch harder with every gulp of air she swallowed in.My dick didn't need any mor

Our first job was to get back to the gold. I kind of enjoyed having to live rough on the road again. I really am not made for the high end luxury life in a castle it turns out. The days were long but the views were stunning.Long open roads, winding valleys, lakes and the back of Lucien. I blamed the bikes, the vibration and the pebbly path but really, the reason I joyously leapt onto him and showered him with kisses every time we stopped was because I was that attracted to him.Three days staring at his back on the roads meant I knew the outline of his body better than my own. His soft boyish curls of short brown hair that softened his appearance. The wide, humongously muscled shoulders that looked as though they could rip trees from the ground. The very best thing was pulling up alongside him every so often and ca

My eyes fluttered open after a huge splash of water hit my face.A terrifying thought struck me as I spluttered back into consciousness that I was back in the river and that everything between Lucien and I had been a coma dream. Thankfully the first thing I saw, same as back when he first rescued me were those eyes. Kind, full of love and concern and for the first time, brimming with tears.“Lucien, they said I could go,” I whispered, placing my hand on his cheek softly brushing away his tear.He didn’t say a word, just held me closer to him, squeezing me as though I might fly away if he loosened his grip. “Lucien, we can be together,” I whispered again, this time placing a soft kiss upon his cheek. He stroked my hair softly, although

Beta Jackson was sent on his mission before the sun rose this morning. We had found out their location yesterday to be honest but I pleaded with Alexander to give them one more night.“If had been us, possibly separated forever, what harm would it do?” I had said.“Your faith in them still being there is staggering,” he grunted, kissing me and playing with one of my long brown curls as we sat on the bleachers together once more. We were finding ourselves outside of the castle more frequently.Almost as though the castle had become a place with too many associations, too many awful things had happened. Murder, devastation and plots had spoiled it for a while. Being amongst the gardens, watching the defence training taking place whilst taking deep lungful’s of air, that made us happ

I had imagined every possible scenario for how this meeting would go. I remembered her parents from some of the Full Moon Balls. They were fairly plain but both shared Grace’s pale blue eyes. They had lived in Silver City then, as soon as Grace had been mated to Bram they had been allocated a town house in the centre. Apparently Grace had been a regular visitor to them. I once saw them walking around the market square just outside the castle and felt a wave of guilt. Of course the times she went for these visits were the same times Bram visited me. I often dreamed that Bram encouraged her visits, so desperate to spend time with me, it made me feel special. From my room I could see the castle courtyard and I would watch her head off, blonde hair bouncing and flowing as the crowds gave way for her. It was my prompt to make sure I was ready, knowing any second B

We held hands tightly in silence all the way there. Entwined together like ancient tree branches. There was nothing to say that we hadn't covered last night. It is not a word I use but it was perfect. It made confessing the stains of my life, my savage destruction of my own family feel like it was worth it. Airing out the poison in order to create a clean, fresh start. My mind buzzed with the possibility that perhaps this medicine woman might be the one to finally reconnect me with my family. My mother in particular. I got my greeny eyes from and nothing else. She was a small dark haired woman with a sparkling laugh and a constant need to be in contact. As I told Bella last night you couldn't move in our house, neither me or Felicia without being swept into a cuddle, a squeeze or a hair ruffle by her. I didn't tell Bella that she was exactly the type of
