Chapter 6

Keira’s Pov

“Meet us in the woods by midnight. We will leave a scent for you to follow. Ensure that you do not keep us waiting.” Valerie said, and then both her and Damien walked out of the living room.

I breathed a sigh of relief, and it felt as if their presence had been a weight on my shoulders, and with them gone, it was a big relief. They didn’t even wait to hear if I was going to be in or not; I guess they could smell my fear and knew I would end up doing their bid. Well, I couldn’t really say I was going to deceive them totally; I was going to do their bid a little just to save my neck, and that of my family and friends.

But on a second thought, I felt if I could sneak out into the woods, then I could also escape that way. The thought of that made my heart leap for joy, and I just couldn’t wait until midnight.

I tried my best to stay patient just until midnight would be here because with the thought of escaping here, my whole body just couldn’t stay here one more second.

“Keep calm, Keira. Keep calm.” I said under my breath as I laid on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

One thing I was grateful for was that Zane had allowed me to stay in a room of my own, pending the time I got my memories back, if not, I would have freaked out knowing that I had to sleep in the same room as him, and on the same bed, as well.

I shook my head and shrugged my shoulders at the thought of that, and continued staring at the ceiling until I began to feel dizzy, and gradually slept off.

My eyes opened abruptly and my chest was heaving hard as I sat up.

“Goodness. Thank goodness it was just a dream.” I said under my breath as sweats trickled down my chin, and dropped on my bedsheet.

Valerie and Damien had slaughtered my whole family and friends just because I disobeyed them, and they did that with joy and satisfaction. Although, trying to escape was a risk to take, but the thought that I could actually escape from here, gave me the morale. I glanced at the small clock on my bedside table, and noticed that it was midnight already.

“Finally.”

I got down from the bed, and walked towards the door which I opened slowly and when I stepped out, I noticed there were two guards who were at the left and right side of my door. I had totally forgotten I would need to get past them.

I closed the door gently and ensured it didn’t make a sound, then I yanked it open again.

“Gosh! Did you both have your bath today, or at least, for days now? I can barely sleep just because of the stench coming from you both.” I said, with my brows raised.

They both exchanged glances and looked at me with so much respect, and fear.

“We’re sorry, ma’am. We’ll do that right away.” They both said, and hurried away.

I smiled to myself as I watched them leave immediately, then I immediately crept out and headed out of the pack house. It was really easy to get out as I acted like the Luna they probably knew back then, and just couldn’t bring themselves to disrespect me.

Just as I made my way out of the pack, I ran as fast as I could, tracing back to the place which we had come from, but I noticed that it only seemed like I was getting further into the woods, and even when I got to the end of the woods, I only saw a water fall.

“But…. But… this wasn’t the way we came from.” I uttered, feeling really baffled about everything.

Just while I was staring at the waterfall with tears in my eyes as I felt really broken and hopeless, I felt a completely cold hand on my shoulder, and my heart beat seized for a moment. I couldn’t feel any aura from the person like the other people, and that got me scared.

It was then I realized that I was deep in the woods, and that was probably one of the dangerous places around here. Then I slowly turned to look at who still had his hand placed on my shoulder, and just when I saw the person, I felt horrified.

His face was disfigured, and his eyes looked really cold and darting. His body was half wolf and half human, with his fangs all out, seeming to be the most dangerous thing I had ever seen.

My heart began to beat fast, and breathing seemed almost impossible to do. Worst case scenarios of what this creature was going to do to me, filled my mind. Even my skin had goosebumps around me, and the way I felt so much fear gripping me, my body was shaking, and my legs were trembling.

Did Valerie and Damien perhaps set me up? Were they lying about wanting to use me? Even though I didn’t get out because of them, I knew I was doomed.

“Please don’t hurt me.” I pleaded as tears filled my eyes up.

“Oh, Luna Blackwood. I see your short absence must have messed with your head and personality. Interesting.” He said, and chuckled wickedly.

My heart was still beating fast, and I felt cold beads of sweat form on my face as I didn’t know what exactly to do or say.

“I…I am not Luna; please let me go.” I pleaded as I rubbed my hands vigorously, and he laughed out.

Before I knew it, he dashed towards me at a full speed, and gripped my neck as we got to a cliff.

“Say goodbye to the world, Luna Blackwood.” He said with a smirk.

“Please spare me. Please.” I pleaded earnestly with tears.

I couldn’t dare look down as I could tell it was either I would fall onto sharp rocks or drown in the massive water. But before I could make another plea, he released his grip on me, making me fall.

“Ahhh!” My scream tore into the air as I was falling.
