Chapter Seventeen

Kiera’s Pov

How tall was the mansion? Or was it a Palace? Why was it so high above the ground? Even looking down at it made a wave of nausea pass through me.

Finally, I retired to my bed, and waited the whole day for someone to come. Anyone.

When it was late in the afternoon, I heard footsteps approaching, and I jumped to my feet, looking around for any sort of weapon I could use to help myself. Foolishly picking the bedside lamp, I raised it and crept to the door.

If I cracked it hard enough, then I could knock him out, and run, away from his stupid mansion, and his stupid demands.

Unfortunately, when the door opened, I had to stop myself. It was a maid, and behind her was Edmond, standing guard, looking at me menacingly.

I dropped the lamp, and retreated, keeping my eyes on Edmond.

She came in with Lunch, preparing it for me, and I glanced at Edmond.
