Chapter 26: Seeking Answers

“I can’t explain because I don’t really understand what’s going on,” Gerrit finally spoke.

“What do you mean you don’t understand?” Aleksandr asks through clenched teeth.

“Well, my wolf has been restless for the last couple of days. At first, I thought it was just because I was newly shifted and I’m still learning how to work with him and understand him…”

Gerrit trailed off and although I don’t know much about a wolf’s first shift, it seemed like he was a little embarrassed to admit that he’s had some trouble with his wolf.

Alpha Cornelis nudges him urging him to continue his explanation. Gerrit’s eyes remain downcast as he continues.

“When I walked into the dining room and your son, Ace, was there, my wolf became very aggressive. I’ve never felt him so strongly before,” he whispers.

His eyes snap up to meet mine, “but then your presence seemed to wash over me in waves, and it helped to calm my wolf. I never would have made it through dinner without you there.”
