~Lorenzo~

He made it back to Emily’s pack in no time. Looking at her in the bed with all the wires hooked up to her physically hurt. He hated it. And someone was going to pay.

She kept going in and out for a while. But he was there when she first opened her eyes. It didn’t last long, pretty soon she was back under again.

It took a couple days, but finally she was able to sit up and eat and talk.

“Lo you didn’t have to come back.. I know your pack needs you. How long were you home for?” She asked him.

Lo smirked at her. “A day.”

“But I am going back. Just for a while. You’re right they need to see me. But I won’t be gone for long. I promise.”

“All this back and forth has got to be killing you.” She said.

“Not as much as hearing someone shot you. Not anywhere near as much as that.” He told her.

He noticed some folders sitting on the table.

“What’s this?” He asked as he grabbed for it. But Emily snatched it away from him. She put one folder in a bag her brothers had brought

~Emily~ The last few days had not been easy or good. She had left the hospital, came home to the cabin, her arm still in a sling and her shoulder still killing her. Dr. Pavarti had sent some pills home with her for the pain. She had no idea what was going on with Raleigh, or the rogue wolves in the east, or the guys that shot her. No one would tell her anything. Lo had left… he went back to his pack. She understood why. He was an alpha he couldn’t stay with her all the time. He wasn’t even her mate. She couldn’t even tell him the other day that she might not be Nick’s mate for much longer, especially after all this. She wasn’t a scientist. She didn’t know if their mate bond would even trigger if she and Nick divorced and she denounced him. Although they didn’t really need it to did they? They’d loved each other their whole lives. They had a bond that surpassed the mate bond. Now, since she had showed him the paperwork and he’d told her he thought he had met his second mate…

~Emily~She was back in the town hall at her trial. She couldn’t say she had missed this place. Last night after talking with Maeve she couldn’t sleep, even with the pain medicine and sleep medicine the doctor had given her. All she could think about was that the men who had shot Charlotte had most likely been looking for her. It was her fault. Maeve had told her it absolutely was not her fault, and deep down she guessed she knew that but it still stung. And she sure as hell felt guilty. At least she had gotten the information to Ellis that she’d collected. Maybe nothing would ever come of it, who knew. But she had done what she could. Reymond stood up to quiet the crowd. The crowd, which seemed to double in size today. But she also knew a lot of the pack members were there to hear about Raleigh, because it had gotten out that he was in confinement and they all had questions. “If everyone could quiet down and pay attention. I know the past few weeks have been…. Enlightening.. so t

  • The Luna’s Choice    Chapter 92

~Emily~After she left the town hall she went straight to the hospital to sit with Charlotte. Alice went home to sleep a while so it was just the two of them. Alan left and went to take care of the store while Brian stayed back with the council to discuss everything going on. And Maeve headed home to cook some food for everyone. She held Charlotte’s hand and begged her to wake up. She told her all about Lorenzo visiting and how he’d thought he met his second mate. And how it was killing her inside to think about it. She told her how Caron had stood up and basically threw Nick under the bus. And how sorry she was that someone shot her. When she left Charlotte and was walking down the hallway to leave the hospital she passed a room where a man was sitting up in bed watching tv. She stopped. She backed up and peeked in. He saw her and smiled. “Hello Luna”. He said brightly. She frowned because she didn’t recognize him. “I’m sorry you probably have no idea who I am. I’m Samuel.

~Lorenzo~Even though he was back in his pack.. his head and heart were not. He was making mistakes left and right. He did an entire financial sheet on the wrong form.. and his head was pounding from the stress of it all. He couldn’t stop thinking about what Emily had told him. He most likely had a second mate, someone besides her. He wished he’d known that years ago. Maybe he wouldn’t have pined after her for so long. But even now, when he did know, he couldn’t imagine mating anyone but her. If he had known about this a couple weeks ago he would’ve assumed it was Janine. Even though he knew he didn’t want to be with her. But after he met the Hemmings family, and Collins walked down those stairs, he was nearly damn positive she was the one. Fuck. He shoved the papers away. He couldn’t concentrate he needed to go for a run and clear his head. Jarvis poked his head around the corner. “How’s it going in here?” He said. Although Lorenzo was sure he already knew the answer to that

~Lorenzo~“Hello Alpha, Beta, come in please.” Mr. Hemming said politely. “Thank you Cyrus… sorry to barge in unannounced.” Lo said. “Nonsense we’re happy to see you.” Mr. Hemming said. “I was wondering if I could speak to you privately for a moment.” Lorenzo told him, while inconspicuously trying to see if Collins was around. He knew she was there somewhere though he could sense and smell her. “Of course.” Mr. Hemming said although with a confused look. Even though it was freezing, they walked out to the back of the cabin to talk. Lo didn’t want to risk his family hearing the conversation. Werewolf hearing made that difficult. There was a fence out back… it’s where they kept some of the livestock. “Cyrus, do you have any plans for work?” Lo asked, getting right to the point. Cyrus’s teeth were chattering as he wasn’t used to the cold weather just yet. Even though it didn’t bother him as much as it would a human.. his family came from a much warmer climate. “Well I don’t kn

~Emily~ The rest of the week the trial days were short. Half of the council had left to go deal with the rogue packs. Of course not everyone knew that. It was just Reymond, Red, and Ellis left. She hoped it would be wrapping up soon so she could put this behind her once and for all. They’d finished questioning Caron, and after all his threats he’d made they sent a guard to follow him home and forbade him from returning without written permission. She thought they’d end up charging him… but they had too many other things going on at the moment. They were searching for the rogues that Raleigh met that night… plus the two humans that had shot her and Charlotte. She knew everyone was pretty overwhelmed and the council wanted to speed her trial along to get it out of the way so they could deal with other things. Sophia hadn’t been back to her trial either but that was fine with her. She would love to never have to see that woman again. They’d questioned a few more people from Caron

~Emily~THE PAST She and Nick were expecting their first baby. She was so happy and excited and so was he. Emily knew Nick wanted an heir. But she also knew he was just happy to have a child with her. Her and Charlotte had been busy decorating the nursery in between all the other pack duties she now had. But she loved it. Emily was in her element. Although it was a lot of work… it made her feel fulfilled. She had only just found out about a month ago… but she had been dying to tell people. The morning sickness probably made it obvious to some. She and Nick were supposed to be traveling to the Whitetail pack that day. It was to be a quick turn around trip… only to get some paperwork from Caron that Nick didn’t trust to send through a courier. He had said it would be a fun little get away just for the two of them. He could see his sister and feel safe that he had the papers. Emily could care less about seeing Susan. But she had agreed to go with him anyway. But the night befor

~Nick~THE PAST He sat by the hospital bed holding on to Emily’s hand. The machines she was hooked up to were beeping, wires were coming out of her body everywhere. The smell of bleach and medicine and cleansing agents was stinging his nose. He stared at Emily.. her hair in tangles, some blood was dried on her neck from the wreck.. she was still beautiful. She looked peaceful laying there, although he knew she was probably being plagued with dreams that were anything but. Please wake up. Please wake up. He thought. The ambulance had come after the wreck and transported her to a human hospital. He wished he could take her back to the pack hospital but he didn’t know how to do that without raising suspicion. They’d been taking good care of her here though. Charlotte had insisted on coming with him. And you couldn’t tell that girl anything once she’d set her mind to it. But it had taken them a few hours to figure out where she was. He had finally pinged her phone location..

Lorenzo They were coming in the pack house for a break from the rigorous training they’d been doing for a few weeks now. Lorenzo was happy to help train. But at the same time he had other pack duties and responsibilities he needed to be working on. Not to mention his mind was miles and miles away with Emily still. After he’d heard about Charlotte, he wanted to go to her immediately. But because he had been back and forth so much he decided to wait and go for the funeral instead. He had people coming into his territory those days anyway. And he didn’t want to leave Jarvis by himself to deal with all that. He had agreed to house several of the guards from his region that were training for the group that was going to the east. Part of the council had already been to most of the packs in the north, and they needed somewhere to put everybody. So he took in some of them. But that meant housing and food for all these people as well. It was a big undertaking.. and he couldn’t leave and

Emily ……………….……………….It had been two weeks since that day in the hospital when Charlotte took her last breath holding Emily’s hand. Emily had sat there and cried until Dr. Pavarti came in and unhooked Charlotte from all the machines. Something hit Emily in that moment. And she couldn’t hold it in any longer. She screamed. A painful, heart wrenching sound came from her. She screamed some more. Then she screamed again. She got up and ran out of the hospital into the cold night air. And she screamed some more.People were coming outside that had heard her, she’d woken them up in the middle of the night but she didn’t care. Her brothers and Maeve had come to the hospital too. They must’ve been in the waiting room but she didn’t even see them. They stood behind her not saying anything. Alan was a mess… he really liked Charlotte and Emily had hoped they’d end up mates one day. Alice came outside then, tears running down her face as well. But she was holding it together. Emily d

Emily She walked back into Charlotte’s room slowly… not wanting to face what the doctor has told her. Pam walked by her on her way out and laid her hand on her arm. “Just in case it’s what we think it is, tell her goodbye Emily. Most people don’t get that chance. But you do. Tell her everything you want.” Pam whispered as she left the room. She repeated basically exactly what the doctor had told her mere seconds ago. She wondered if they’d practiced that. A way to soften the blow when telling people their lives would forever be changed, and not in a good way. Emily was practicality full on sobbing at this point as Alice turned to her and softly smiled. “A-Alice” Emily stuttered between her sobs. “I just can’t accept what they’re say-saying. It can’t be true.” Alice hugged her tightly and then said:“It happened with my mother when she passed. It seems like the same thing to me.”Emily cried harder. “We would need a miracle Emily and I don’t think it’s coming. I’ve said my

Emily The look on Maeve and Brian’s faces were enough to know it was bad. She didn’t wait on any explanations, or to ask any questions. She just took off running. She ran and ran and ran all the way back into the middle of the territory. Up and down the streets, cutting through woods and peoples yards to get there as fast as she could. She finally saw the hospital up ahead. She slammed through the front door and ran through the waiting room. She kept going. Get to Charlotte. That’s all that mattered. Finally when she got to her room she skidded to a stop. She opened the door and went inside. Dr. Pavarti, Pam, and Alice stood around her bed. Emily closed her eyes, listening. Breaths. Faint but there. She was still alive. “What happened??” Charlotte demanded. At her voice Charlotte’s eyes opened just barely. She had woken up???“Oh goddess!” Emily cried as she ran to the bed. “Charlotte!” She cried and cried and thanked goddess her friend was waking up. “Emily….” Dr. Pavar

She had the audacity to act like it wasn’t a big deal and then the little fucker hung up on him. He was so mad he through the lamp sitting on the table across the room. He’d forgotten all about Collins, she sat there wide eyed… as he threw his tantrum. He sighed, rubbed his hand through his hair making it stand every which way then down his face. “Fuck. I am so sorry Collins. You… you didn’t need to see that.” He said. “It’s okay….” She said shaking her head. But it wasn’t. He was her Alpha and she didn’t need to see him losing his shit. Even though he was most definitely losing all of his shit right now. “No. No it’s not okay. I haven’t been a very good Alpha recently. I’ve had a lot going on…..” he began. “Honestly. It’s perfectly fine. You’re frustrated. I get it. You have emotions, that’s normal. It’s good th

Emily A while later she and Alan were on their way back to the pack, laughing their asses off at how everything went down. It wasn’t what she had expected, that was for sure. But she couldn’t kill a man who had just been protecting his daughter. He was a human, approached by two werewolves that he had no idea even existed… that threatened his little girl. She could understand. Although he could’ve shot the other wolves with the silver bullets the rogues gave him… She did feel better … that was for certain. Now they just had to catch the two rogue wolves. Ellis was already on it… finding their location. She would have to wait a couple days before she could try to get them to let her take care of those two. “Poor mustache.” She said. “Who??” Alan asked. “The guy— mustache. We don’t know his real name.” She answered. “I think his name is pissed his pants”. Alan answered. They both started laughing. Because he did, indeed, piss his pants when she shifted and went up to him. S

Emily. “Stay back!” The man yelled. The other guy was keeping his eye on Alan who was staring at him so hard Emily half expected lasers to come out of his eyes. “You. Shot. My. Best. Friend.” She ground out. “And me., which I don’t even care about. But when you shot her? You made a big…..huge …. mistake.”“Listen… I didn’t..” the guy tried. But Emily growled again. Both guys watching her now looked like they were about to cry. They might know werewolves existed, but she didn’t think they’d ever seen one shift before. They were too scared. “Wait… please…..” he said. “Who hired you?” She asked him. “I … I don’t know! I never got a name!”“What did they give you? For murdering someone? What did they pay you for that?!” She spat out, her eyes started glowing … her anger getting the best of her. “Please … don’t hurt us. They threatened my daughter!!” The man said. Emily stopped. What did he just say? “What??” She asked him. “Two guys. They’d been coming into the bar where m

Emily “Alan. Did you catch that scent?” She asked him carefully. He looked at her, knowing exactly what she was saying. “Yes.” He said. “Same ones, right?” She asked. He nodded. In that moment her phone started ringing and the two wolves jerked their heads up. She and Alan crashed down in the seat out of sight while she quickly quieted her phone. She looked to see who was calling. It was Lorenzo. Why would he be calling her… unless….“Shit.” She said. “Brian blabbed to Lo”. She told Alan. “Well may as well call it off now he’ll be here in five minutes.”Of course he couldn’t actually get here that fast. But he would try. She needed to talk to him and calm him down. So as she and Alan were scrunched down in the car hiding she called him back. They rolled up the windows just in case it rang again. They couldn’t hear them talking… but a shrieking phone ring? They could easily hear that. He answered on the first ring. “Lo?” She said quietly. “Please tell me your brother has

Emily She and Alan had made it into the human town. Being there was making her feel sick, and making her think about the trip here with Charlotte. They’d passed the tattoo shop where they’d gotten matching tattoos… and the place where they got their hair cuts. She was getting angrier and angrier the more she remembered everything. Now they were in the next town. The one where the guys had first shown up. She knew the addresses that Ellis had given her, where the men had been seen… at least allegedly. But just as a precaution she wanted to go to the loading docks where she and Charlotte had gone. Alan argued they were probably only there to follow them, and she knew as much. But she wasn’t leaving a stone unturned. But they weren’t there. She even stopped and asked a few people if they’d seen the truck the guy drove. So they headed to the first address, which was a house. But when they got there no one was home. The next place was a bar type restaurant where Emily had planned to
