Lorenzo

He had just returned to the Blackforest territory and had gone straight to his cottage to unpack. The last few days had not been easy ones. He never thought he’d be dying to return to Nick’s pack of all places… but there he was.

He wondered how Emily’s trip home had gone. He was sure it was better than his trip, anyway. Hopefully she had a good break and got some rest. He knew seeing her dad would do her good.

He wanted to go see her but their last meeting had been … interesting, to say the least. Still, he wanted to check in with her before he left again in a couple days.

Lo had to return home to his pack. At least for a little while. He had been gone for too long and even though he knew his beta and Janine could handle things, a pack needs to see their Alpha. And an Alpha needs to be with his pack.

He wouldn’t stay gone forever. He would come back…. hell he didn’t even know how to stay away, not anymore.

He needed to tell her and her brothers about the trip to th

Lorenzo “So Ellis, Jay, and Amund stayed here to deal with Raleigh and Nick and everything. And Reymond and Red and I headed back to the East to the pack there that had asked me for help.” He told them. “They actually had some scouts go out with a couple of human informers….”“Wait. They’ve got informers that are human?” Emily interrupted. “Every region does… sometimes only one because they have to have the masking ability.” Brian told her. “It’s what Ellis used to do before he sat on the council.” Lo said. “How come I didn’t know about this?” Emily asked. “It’s very hush hush…. Usually only the Alphas know about it.” He continued. Emily looked flabbergasted at this news. Which I guess it was a little shocking to hear it for the first time. “Anyway they sent them out to see if there for sure was a pack of rogues and to check how big it was…. They did that in between the time I was there the first time and the last time.”“What did they find out?” Asked Alan. “There is indeed

Emily The growl they heard shook the windows. Just from the power and anger that it held, she knew exactly who it was. Nicklaus. She and Lo separated quickly, the sound startling both of them. She looked over at Nick who was baring his teeth… his wolf wanting out. “Nick….” She said calmly. “It was just a hug. That’s all.”“ I. Saw. What. It. Was.” He growled out. His anger quickly getting the better of him. Clearly things were starting to get to Nick because he wasn’t in control at the moment. Seeing her with Lo must’ve pushed him right over the edge. Nick started towards the porch and Lorenzo quickly grabbed Emily shoving her behind him. “You need to calm down.” Lo said with authority. But that just made Nick angrier. “GET YOUR HANDS…. OFF MY MATE” Nick spat at him. “Not until you calm the hell down.” Lorenzo said. Oh goddess. She thought. This was going to get very fighty very fast. A second later both her brothers ran out the door. They immediately saw what was happening

Emily THE PAST She and Nick had been married and mated for only a couple of months. To say the transition had been difficult was an understatement. She missed home. She missed her dad and her brothers, she missed Maeve and June… but mostly, she missed Lo. She constantly wondered what he was doing. If he had found and mated someone.. she didn’t think he had, just because she would somehow or feel it if that ever happened. And it would break her. She knew all this even though she had found her own mate. And Nick had been nothing but good to her. The only thing was, Nick constantly was working. Emily wasn’t naive about alpha duties. She’d grown up with one. Still. Her dad had always taken time away from the pack and made time for her mother and his children. Even though she and Nick obviously didn’t have children, she wished that she was a little higher on his list of things he cared for. Emily found out very quickly that nothing came before the pack in Nick’s eyes. She didn’t know

Emily The Present The pills she had gotten from Dr. Pavarti had done wonders. Either that or miracles actually happen because she had been sleeping like a baby. But tonight, nothing would help. No amount of the pills… not the hot bath she took.. not reading. She almost went on a run but she was afraid she would bump into Lorenzo. The fight he and Nick had gotten into was one of the scariest things she had ever seen. And she had seen tons of wolf fights but this was different. It was the two men she loved. The two men she was torn between. Her mate, and the man who should’ve been her mate. Not only that, but the fight had been violent and brutal. The power and anger coming off both of them was something like she had never seen before…….not in any of her training.. not even with her fight with Susan. Maybe it had been as bad. But she was in it, not off to the side watching. She had considered going to Lo, he could’ve been hurt although, she seriously doubted it. It was more lik

EmilyOnce Emily was up and dressed and had eaten breakfast she left to go to Charlotte’s. In no time at all they were on their way to the human towns close to their pack. By close she meant a two hour drive, so they were leaving pretty early. They had to go to a couple different towns to get everything they needed. Plus they wanted to have time to explore. The girls were giddy with excitement. They both needed this outing. Plus it had been ages since the two of them got to do anything on their own. Before she could relax and have fun though, Emily had to fill Charlotte in on everything. She told her about her visit home and seeing everyone, and what Lo had told them about the trip east and the rogue pack there. Then she told her about what happened last night…. between Nick and Lorenzo. “And you haven’t heard from either of them since?” Charlotte asked her. “Nope. I tried to go after both of them but my brothers pretty much threatened to tie me to a chair.” Emily said. “Plus Lo

Emily They finally made it into the first town they were visiting. The second town they would be going to that day was bigger and busier than this somewhat quaint one. But Charlotte’s family had long bought from the little stores they had here and resold the items. They could get a few things in bulk, and this is where they would find the more original and personable items. For example, one of the little stores there sold tons of homemade goods like jellies and jams and other canned and jarred foods. They had homemade items like signs and decorations made from metals, they had homegrown vegetables and fruits. Even though they grew nearly all their food on the pack lands- every pack had a couple of farmers that got large chucks of land to plant on- they still liked to get the occasional things they didn’t grow. Like squash for instance. Wolves didn’t grow squash. But they all loved to eat it. They also didn’t grow okra, or strawberries or cantaloupe. So Charlotte would always get

Emily The next stop they went to was a large wholesale building. They drove around the back and pulled in a parking spot. Charlotte called a phone number and told someone they were there. “Okay they’ll bring it out in a second.” Charlotte said. Emily smiled and nodded and then she looked around. There were a few of those big trucks there. The humans called them ‘eighteen wheelers’ or something like that. They didn’t have those sorts of things obviously. Then a couple cars and a few trucks and vans. She felt pretty relaxed in the moment. Emily really wanted to tell Charlotte about her plan she had came up with and some of the theories she had on certain things. But right when she started to tell her another truck pulled up right beside them. The windows were down and two men were inside. Emily frowned. Didn’t she just see that truck parked at the other end of the parking lot? It was a sleek black double cab truck. Surely it was brand new the way it shined. And why did they par

EmilyA while later they were headed back to the pack. They didn’t see any more of the black truck and their run in with the guys was almost forgotten. They’d gone back through the first town and we’re headed up the mountain roads toward their land. They were getting fairly close now as they turned down the last road. It was the only road that led into and out of their territory. The sun was getting low and Emily was finally getting relaxed. They’d had the best day and she was excited about eating some more of the pizza they’d brought home. That is if Alan didn’t cram it all down first. She couldn’t wait to show her brothers her hair and new tattoo. She had also bought little souvenirs for her brothers and Maeve. And she was excited to give the kids their books and gifts. All in all the past week had been one of the best ones she had in years. She got to see her family and then she got to go to the towns. She was telling Charlotte she bet Brian and Alan would be excited becau

Emily Nick looked very rough at the moment. He seemed to be looking less and less like himself lately. But he had brought the kids so she smiled. “Tutu is taking the day off. Can you watch them?” He said. His voice was gravely. Like he hadn’t used it in a long time. Or else he had overused it. “Sure!” She said brightly. Any chance she had to spend with her children, and Andrew, she would take it. She wanted to pull Andrew aside and talk with him anyway. After he had been so brave and stood up for her, she had to let him know how much she appreciated it. And him. “Can I speak to you a moment outside.” Nick said. He didn’t really ask the question.. more like he made a statement. She told the kids Alan was in the kitchen and she walked onto the porch and shut the door behind her. Nick was running both his hands down his face… something was frustrating him… she could feel the chemo signals coming off him in waves. “Do you know what they’ve done?? They’ve arrested my mother. My

Emily That day when she got home her family wanted to celebrate. She immediately called her dad and told him the good news.. to which he cried again, and in turn so did she. Then she called June and told her as well. She got sad again, about the fact that she couldn’t call Charlotte … but her family was working overtime to make her feel happy and excited for the future. They fixed a huge meal. The biggest they’d made in forever. There was steaks and potatoes.. lobster tails and a salad… rolls and corn on the cob. And Maeve had made brownies for dessert. It was heaven. After dinner they sat around drinking coffee and talking about everything. Emily looked at each of them. They’d been here with her through the entire thing. As much as she was happy it was over, she was sad that this would be ending too. Her brothers would have to leave soon and go back to her home pack. Brian was the alpha and Alan the beta. They’d been gone for way too long. Even though her dad was there and

Lorenzo He thought there was probably a permanent ridge in the floor he’d walked the same spot back and forth so much. Pacing to one side of the room to the other, he waited. And waited. And walked. And walked. He was waiting for an update about Emily. Brian had called him a day earlier and told him what had happened at the trial that day. What Emily had told everyone… what REALLY happened that night when Susan died. Everything Brian had told him made him so angry he had thrown a chair through the window. Apparently that was his thing now, chair throwing. It was the second time recently. So once he calmed down he had that to fix. He wanted to call her. Damn did he ever want to call her. But he figured she would be busy, talking with her family and spending time with them. He didn’t want to interrupt or interfere. Plus he figured if she had wanted him to know what was going on, she would call him. He was being stupidly stubborn and he knew it. But…Her best friend died. Thing

Emily She still hadn’t spoken a word to anyone about what Ellis had found.. nor what she took pictures of…… nor what June had discovered. Ellis had found wolfsbane at the clearing. It was over in the bushes wrapped in cloth. The same bushes that Susan was trying her best to get to. She was going to poison Emily. She just didn’t get the chance. It’s why she shifted back to human in the middle of their fight… she underestimated Emily’s nice and soft demeanor… thinking she could gloat about what she had done and Emily wouldn’t shift and attack her. Guess it pays to have an angry side that never comes out. It’s how she poisoned her before. They’d figured that out as well. Susan had put wolfsbane in Emily’s chocolate cake. The dessert she knew Emily would eat because it was her favorite. If the guards who had searched the area of the fight had found it.. they probably left it because they were scared to touch it. It was that poisonous to them. But she doubted they even looked. S

EmilyShe gasped. Her hand went quickly to her mouth as the whole room began to speak at once. Nick stood up angrily. “You cannot possibly think this is true.. he is a child. He’s barely seven years old! Why would you have him come here and say this?!” Nick spat angrily. Emily frowned at him. Did he ever stand up once during her trial and tell them they had it wrong?? Did he stand up for her when Felix was speaking down on her? When she was accused of murdering Susan?? No. In fact the opposite. He sent her here. Without question. He decided her fate. And now when it’s about his mother he does this?“Mr. Blackforest control your outbursts.” Ellis told him, forgoing Nick’s alpha title. “Andrew.. buddy… surely you misheard…”Nick tried. But Andrew frowned at Nick and shook his head. Emily felt a tear run down her face. First because poor Andrew who had to overhear such things about his mother no less. And then for Nick.. who was still to this day taking up for Susan. Still trying

Emily Emily ran home and changed.. well got dressed rather, before heading back to the town hall. She was nervous, it had only been a day since the trial ended and they weren’t supposed to meet back til the end of the week. Did them coming to a conclusion this quick mean a good thing… or a bad thing? She had no idea. But she was as bouncy as a rubber ball. Alan kept giving her a look… but she couldn’t even speak at the moment. They arrived and went in and sat down. Because this meeting was impromptu, there wasn’t as many people there… but still the seats were full. A moment later the council came in .. well the three of the members that were left anyway. The others were still dealing with the rogue situation in the east. Reymond got everyone’s attention.. Emily felt like her heart was going to jump out of her chest. “Thank you all for coming on such short notice.. somethings come to our attention.. and because we know everyone would like to get this taken care of sooner rather

Emily Nick was standing there staring at the stream in his human form. She could tell he had also been running because all he donned was a pair of athletic shorts. He turned when she ran up, as she skidded to a halt. Quickly shifting and putting on her tshirt, she walked up to him, as he’d turned back around and continued staring at the small stream. “Nick? What are you doing?” She asked him. But he didn’t answer. A moment later he began to speak. “My dad used to bring me here when I was little. He’d tell me stories about magical water fairies who had healing abilities that lived in this stream.” He let out a laugh, but it held no humor. “What a load of shit, huh? Seems everything he ever told me was nothing but a lie.”Emily didn’t know where this was coming from, or why Nick had his mind on Cecil at the moment. “I thought my dad hung the moon. He was so powerful as an Alpha. And I know what people say about him… but for me, he was an extraordinary wolf. And when I was litt

Emily THE PRESENT The entire room was complete silent. No one spoke, no one moved. Once Emily finished her story she stood.. waiting. But still no one said a word. It felt like everyone was holding their breath. Emily let out a huge sigh as tears came to her eyes. She felt the biggest weight off her chest as she turned to look at her brothers. who were both in tears as well. They finally knew. Everyone. Finally. Knew. She noticed more people in the crowd had tears in their eyes as well. She looked over at Nick.. who kept his head bowed. He wouldn’t even glance at her. Ellis caught her eye.. he gave her a small encouraging nod and smile. Finally after what seemed like forever, Reymond stood up and said: “thank you, Emily. You may sit down. Reymond asked if anyone else had anything to say or add. Nobody did. And then he said the trial would adjourn for the next three days. Even though he didn’t say it, Emily assumed that meant they’d have a decision by then. An outcome, for what

Emily THE PAST Emily was so shocked by Susan’s confession she couldn’t even believe what she was hearing. Emily couldn’t breathe. She couldn’t move. She couldn’t speak. “Granted I was trying to kill you… if that makes you feel better.” Susan kept talking. Emily was lost in a cloud of darkness. Confusion and shock was all she could feel. She still hadn’t said a word. Susan started laughing. LAUGHING.That did it. That brought Emily out of whatever darkness she was in. “You’ll go to the dungeons for this.” Emily told her. Susan laughed even harder. “Wanna bet?? My brother would never allow it. My MOTHER would never allow it.” Susan boasted. “Nick will put you there himself when he finds out what you did.” Emily spat at her. Susan stopped laughing. She looked at Emily dead in the eye. “Oh sweet sweet naive little Emily. Nick already knows. He knew right after it happened. He’s known for ten fucking years!!” Susan yelled. Emily was shaking her head. No. No he couldn’t ha
