 CHAPTER 3

                                                                                 ~REGINA’S POV~

Our eyes collided in the most intense staring contest in the history of humankind. The air was tense as neither of us was willing to back down for the other.

Every breath we took. Every drop of sweat running down our necks, every thought that ran through our heads, and every rise and fall of our chests was a fight for dominance. A competition where only one victor can emerge victorious.

Emotions rushed through me as I stood in front of him. Emotions that held my soul in a vice grip. Rage. Hatred. Lust. Disgust. The ingredients you would need to create a disaster.

A pair of cloudy-colored eyes, a pair of full lips, a perfectly shaped nose, a short mop of black hair, and 193cm worth of height made up the Alpha of the pack I swore to destroy a long time ago.

“Aren't you going to say something?” I asked with all the nonchalance in the world, my eyes not once leaving him afraid of losing this unspoken competition where the reward is the loser's life.

“No. I like the silence.”

His voice sent a shiver down my spine, followed by the nausea that almost came up my throat.

“Then why did your junkies bring me here?”

“I don't know…”

He stood to his height and walked towards me with slow, confident strides. Each step was a preprogrammed movement, fast enough to approach your enemy and slow enough to dodge their attack.

Silly boy. I wasn't going to attack him. Not yet, at least.

He came to a stop in front of me. My face was mere inches from his chest, and the scent of oak trees and mint filled my nostrils. A combination it didn't know existed but smelled so good.

“...you tell me, princess.”

“I'm not a princess.”

“Of course, you are not. You are a dirty bitch who fights like a man.”

“I'd rather be a dirty bitch that fights for what's right than to be a classy bitch that hides from the truth.”

“What good is there to fight for the truth when everyone else knows it's a lie.”

“A truth that no one knows about is not a lie but a mystery. And when that mystery is solved, the recognition that comes with it is gratifying.”

“Is that what this is about? Recognition?”

“It's about getting justice for everyone in the blue lily pack.”

“If anyone needs justice, it's the Moon Crescent pack.”

“Bullshit! We have suffered in your hands for a hundred years!”

“And we have lost everything to your pack for just as long! Why are you so insufferable anyway?”

“Guess we have something in common, pretty boy.”

“Sorry, I'm not a whore like you…”

A loud smack sound bounced off the walls in the room, and I didn't know what happened till a sharp pain ran through my palm, and his face was tilted to the side.

I slapped him.

Before I could comprehend my next thought, he wrapped his hand around my neck, and just as he was about to lift me off the ground and lead me to my second death, the unthinkable happened.

From the point where his skin came in contact with mine came a surge of lightning, which set all of my insides on fire. My vision was stained red, and a moan fell from my lips.

No. It can't be! It can't be!

A pink hue painted itself across his cheeks, and with widened eyes, he whispered a question to the wind.

“Mate?”

~KILLIAN’S POV~

Regina Shepard is my mate. Regina Shepard is my mate. Regina Shepard, AKA the fucking Queen of War, is my mate!

I dropped her body to the floor and put distance between the two of us as a million questions ran through my mind.

Seven billion people in the world, and I was mated to the one person I want dead—the woman who has led 14 raids on my pack in the past year.

Is this some sick joke, dear goddess?

“You look like you've seen a ghost, pretty boy. Is everything ok?”

I spun around and came face to face with the villain in this twisted story. A blank look was plastered on my face, and although she had a smirk on her lips, it failed to hide the pale complexion of her skin and the pounding of her heart. She's just as nervous as I am. Maybe even more.

“What's got you in a twist? Scared of having a mate?”

The blank expression on my face didn't waver as I spoke with a low voice.

“I'm not scared of having a mate. Hell, I prayed for her to come to me, but even a desperate man like me wouldn't accept a woman like you.”

Her smirk dropped, and an unfamiliar emotion flashed between her eyes, but before I could decipher them, It was gone as quickly as it came. And then she spoke.

“Reject me then.”

The thought struck my soul harder than it was designed to, and although it would be the literal answer to my problems, I couldn't bring myself to do something like that. So, instead of answering, I ignored her and turned to the mirror before me. The man staring back at me looked nothing like the Alpha that walked into the room for 20 minutes.

The former was a man of confidence. He was an enigma to all who watched him. The latter was the pathetic representation of himself, who was torn between killing the woman behind him or taking her against the wall.

“Shit!” I cursed and then punched the mirror in front of me. The blood dripping down my fingers did nothing to ease the anxiety I felt.

I need to talk to Callum.

Just then, the door burst open, and my brother marched into the room with clenched fists and red ey

es filled with anger. His eyes searched till they landed on Regina.

“There you are.”

Oh shit.

If you aren't going to kill her, then at least she should be in the dungeon.” I stared at Callum with an intensity that could send an average wolf to insanity, but he wasn't an ordinary wolf. He was my brother. My right-hand man, my best friend, and my splitting image if it hadn't been for his shoulder-length hair, lip piercing, and emerald-colored eyes.“I was about to kill her.”“Then why didn't you?”“I was waiting for you.” A statement that wasn't exactly the truth but not entirely a lie. I was waiting for my brother, but I was waiting for him to burst his bubble and crumble his thoughts about the woman I would be with for the rest of my life. The

Why do you find it so hard to believe me?!”“Because you are the queen of War, and deception is your middle name.” I groaned in frustration and pulled my legs to my chin.“I didn't lie. That was the truth; everything I said was the truth.”“Sure thing, princess.”Killian patted my head like a dog, and it took all the willpower in my body not to bite off the fingers on his hand. ~REGINA’S POV~It's been three days since I last saw that demented human. Every second. Every minute. Every hour I spend in this place drives me to insanity. It seems like years I've been in this place when in reality it has only been three days. A gush of wind filled the cell from the broken window, carrying the scent of wet soil and spring rain. My wolf purred in my mind and a sigh left my lips as I closed my eyes to take a deep breath to enjoy this scent of nature. Until the door to my cell burst open and the ugly nature of Leonard is revealed. He glared at my shackled form and I glared back at him. The hatred he felt towards me couldn't hold a candle compared to mine. He unlocked the shackles on my hands and legs and spoke with a scornful voice. “On your feet. The Alpha and Beta have called for you.” I stood to my feet and before I could blink my eyes, he placed silver handcuffs on m

But it's different this time, this time I have seen the extent of his wickedness. I know how far he's willing to go to obtain power. I know he doesn't love me as much as I thought he did. I know everything. A sigh left my lips and I walked into the pack like I hadn't seen myself die within these very four walls. I passed the buildings that filled me with so many good memories and children that filled my heart with so with a joy I thought I could never feel again. But I know Killian would not just stay without doing anything so the best thing to do is to fight back and as long as we take down the Alpha and his beta the warriors would run away with no one to protect them and then we can investigate further so while the people were being arranged I was with Dylan so we could protect the people because I felt like I don't have the mind to fight some of them because they were innocent while some were wicked but either way I decided to help with the injured one’s so I will go when they have started and watch from the side and see how the outcome would be but it seems like I overestimated myself. Although I initially thought the decision should have been mine as the Alpha of the pack, then I realized it was for the pack's well-being. With everything that had happened, swift action was necessary. I immediately informed the warriors to prepare. I appointed Callum to lead them to the border before Alpha Riley's warriors arrived in two hours. I would join them after getting things in check, and once there is an attack, they should call me if I am not there. I immediately mind-linked Callum to come, and to my surprise, he was already here behind me. I nodded at him in support and handed over the task, hoping our plan would be successful. I went to the pack house and it was only ten in the morning and the women and children were moving into the underground pack house. ~~ DYLAN’S POV ~~ As soon as the door was closed, I looked at Killian. Have you ever seen that older man in this town or heard of him? Since you are the Alpha, you should know your people and some people before them; I could see he was thinking, “I don't think I know him because I should have seen him if he was in our pack before the war only a few elders are alive and made it till now, so where is he from and why would they need a dragon’s blood.” From what I know, it is hard to get a dragon’s blood, and once a witch should get it. It means they could destroy every shapehifter or control them and why they use dragon's blood because dragons are the hardest to tame, so you need something of theirs to control them, and their blood is the most vital way to get to them and for them to know there is a dragon here means there is a spy because everyone else found out about it this evening at the banquet and I have not been moving around in the pack except at the training ground o

She understood us and took everything we did to her family, which I regret now. I could feel our bond was more vital. I woke Callum and Dylan up because we needed to set the place in order, and Regina might likely not wake up anytime soon. Callum, you would be in charge of getting our outfit, making sure it Rhymes with Regina’s dress, and arranging it for her so she would see it; then you would come and join us in the ballroom, and with that, I left the room with Dylan beside me. We had a long, busy day. In the afternoon, I knew Regina was awake because I could feel her feelings. She was missing us. I looked at Dylan beside me, knowing he felt it, too. I could not wait to see her, and I felt terrible because she deserved more than this, not for this war and not to alert the enemy so they don't ta
