Katherine PovI blinked awake in a room filled with soft moonlight. It took a moment for my surroundings to come into focus and when it finally did, I saw Gwen, graceful as she was earlier today, looking at me.She must've been the one who woke me up. "Hey, it's time to get up for dinner," she said with a melodic voice. She had a tray of food on her legs and my nose perceived it even before I could lay eyes on the meal. It smelled delicious. "Thank you." I said. She kept quiet, handing me the tray and watching me eat the food. I stayed in the room all day and she was the only one who came in to have conversations with me. So far, she was the only one who did not approach me weirdly. I didn't hear from the twins but I chose not to think about it too much. "You know, you haven't really told me your name," her voice was so soft that I could listen to it forever. I took a moment to contemplate whether to lie or not about my identity. So as to gain their trust I had to say the truth
Katherine pov As the morning light filled my room, I stirred up awake from my sleep. It was the most refreshing night and I felt all my energy at a hundred percent once again. I smiled knowing that I finally woke up without any form or fear. I gasped and jerked up, using the sheets to cover myself when I saw Jade, one of the twins, asleep by the door. Memories of last night came flooding in my head. He'd helped me find peace the night before and I was very grateful for that. Staring at his sleeping body, he did not look as scary as I believed he was in the previous day. He looked rather peaceful. But I couldn't fully accept him or his brother, Jude, as my mates. No matter what my body or mine said. My wolf was not active for the time being so unless Frey agreed to them being mates, I couldn't take that decision alone. Looking at Jade sleeping peacefully, I felt grateful for his comfort. But inside, I was torn. I wanted to keep them at arm's length, afraid of getting hurt again.
Lily PovI walked slowly with heavy steps through the trees, feeling the weight of frustration and self-doubt with each step. Those teenagers, already shifting into their wolves, were relentless in tormenting me. They taunted my late blooming, making me feel like an outsider in a world where strength came from a primal connection with the wolf inside. Making me feel like an outsider as if I were not part of the royalty. I finally reached the pack house on foot. They had gotten there an hour before I did because they all were able to speed off in wolf form. They continued to mock me and I could not fight back because I knew their wolves were stronger than my human form. I saw Katie stare down from her window. Katherine, stuck in her room, witnessed it all from her window. She was obviously hurting for me, and I could almost taste and sense the anger burning within her. I am seen as a mere human until I am able to turn full wolf. Mother experienced the same late blooming and she ass
Katherine Pov The lazy Sunday afternoon unfolded, and Brenda and I found ourselves sprawled on the floor of my room floor, surrounded by a puzzle that seemed to mock our attempts at solving it. Pieces scattered around us, creating a chaotic mosaic of colours."This puzzle is more challenging than I thought. Are you sure we can do this, Brenda?"Brenda chuckled, her eyes fixed on a particularly elusive piece. She was the guru here when it came to arranging puzzles and I didn’t know how she did it but she always knew where to place the right missing piece. It was impressive "Absolutely. The more challenging, the better. It's a good distraction for our boredom."According to what she had told me a few hours ago, the pack would not be back till it was sunset. It was a monthly ritual to train and understand themselves as wolves. Which I kind of envied, the pack I grew up in, I don't think they did such things. As we delved into the puzzle, our conversation meandered through various top
Jade pov"How many times do I have to tell you this, there is absolutely no way we're just going to send her out of this pack!" Jude yelled, banging his hand angrily on the desk in front of him. I was pissed off too. The elders were ranting nonsense, they were all biassed due to their fanatical way of life. Believing that their own cultural value is above every other thing. "Keep your voice down when the council meeting is going on," father corrected but it only passed Jude off even more. "Fuck the council! Do you guys hear yourself?" Jude rose to his feet and I did nothing to try and stop him, no one dared. "She fucking lost her memories and you’re here claiming she’s lying. Even if she was, do you have any sort of proof? So I’m supposed to agree with sending my mate out in the fucking wild. Remembering that we had already found her unconscious.”“Settle down please,” George, Brenda’s father said hoping to actually call my brother down but that turned out bad. “I’m fucking out o
Katherine Pov"Rise and shine sleepy head!" I heard someone barge into the room with a loud voice. Groaning, I looked up from my pillow. "Brenda it's 7am," I grumbled but she continued to make her way to the curtains and she swung them open, making the early morning sun meet with my eyes. I groaned even more. "It's actually past nine and I don't know if you heard," she paused to look at me. "Heard what?" I asked, dumbfounded. "There's a general clean up today for the entire pack estate and both pack members and non members are compelled to do it. Unfortunately, I was assigned to baby sit you because those two numb nuts gave a good review of my last job with you," she sounded displeased but I knew she enjoyed my company. "So they don't let me step out to get my own food but will allow me to slave myself away?" I peered. "Yes, that is correct.""Right," I sighed, wondering what everyone would even think of me. "Besides, this is your chance to prove to everyone that you're not
Katherine pov All the noises were loud, yet the people were so far away. My head hurt and I couldn’t open my eyes or my mouth. I felt myself being lifted from the ground. “Katherine, please stay with me!”The screams did not help how my head hurt. Being lifted by other people helped me understand that even my entire body hurt. The place where the wolf had taken a chunk out of my flesh stung more than anything in life. It was all amplified and so much that I thought I felt even everyone’s emotion. “What happened?”“She fought the dead wolf.”I fought the dead wolf.“She’s badly injured too.”“That’s new, she should be healing by now.”These conversations went on over my head and I heard it all so clearly, it was hard to think I was imagining things or dreaming. I thought I would scream out and cry when someone gripped my arm grazed over the open wounded flesh. “Oh shit!”“What is it?”Yeah, what is it?“It’s wolfsbane.”That explained a lot now, didn’t it. Will Brenda be alrig
Katheri povThe sound of people murmuring drove me out of my sleeping state. Squinting my eyes, I try to look at the blurry moving figures across the bed further. “What is going on?” I mumbled, shuffling around the bed and trying to sit upright. “Shit, we woke her up,” a familiar voice said. “Isn’t it a little too early to be this active in the morning?” I asked, scratching my eyes and finally being able to see Jude and Jade. “Boy am I glad you’re okay,” Jude sighed out. He always was the soft one who had the tendency of petting and spoiling anyone with care. I couldn’t help but smile at both of them. “Good morning,” my voice still remained like a mumble but I believed they heard me properly. “Finally,” Jade said out loud. He had his arms crossed and looked a little puzzled. I stared back at the both of them, wondering if I had done anything wrong in my sleep. “What happened?” I stuttered, removing the sheets from my body and trying to stand up on my feet. Placing all of my w
