if they are outside, couldn't Piper call out for silver and midnight. If the wolves are patrolling, couldn't they smell Piper?

"I couldn't think, but for the pain." This sentence doesn't make sense. I think what was meant to be put there was "I couldn't think of anything but the pain." There's a lot of grammatical errors and issues with sentence structure throughout this book.
