ISABELLE’S POV
When we arrived at Rowan's house his guards gave me a curious look as I stepped out of the car.
My presence here was already a familiar sight to them from the days I used to wait around, eager to see Rowan.
They bowed with respect and turned prepared to notify Rowan of my arrival immediately. But there was a spark in my eyes as I announced, “I’m not here for Rowan. I came here to see Thane. Take me to him—now.”
The guards froze, murmurs echoing through them at the sudden change. Just then, the door opened, and Rowan himself stepped out, a surprised look on his face that he hid it with a polite smile.
But before he could approach us or say a word, I moved to Kael’s side, linking my arm through his.
Rowan's eyes flickered with surprise, his gaze fixed on the link between Karl's and my arm.
I pulled him closer, raising my voice cheerfully. “I’m so exhausted from the day’s events and would love a nice warm meal. Rowan, be a good host and prepare some food. Thane and his son should also join us.” I said with a dismissive wave and adding a dramatic sigh for theatrics, “Normally, I’d be in bed by this hour.”
Rowan raised his brows at my request, but he nodded, gesturing stiffly towards the door of his house.
I walked in, my arms still locked with Kael’s. Soon enough, we were seated in the dining room, and the servants laid out a spread of delicious steaming food.
The table was cast in tense silence and I tried my best to keep the mood light, talking animatedly and encouraging everyone to eat.
I picked a plate up and served Kael some food, my every gesture graceful and casual, though I could feel the stares from across the table.
Thane still seemed caught off guard by my presence and my interest in dining together.
Thane seemed set off and kept glancing between the two men, growing visibly uneasy. I could sense his discomfort but I didn't care, this was actually what I was hoping for tonight.
During the main course, I took my chance. Turning toward Thane’s son, my expression was playful but my eyes remained sharp. “Tell me, Casper, how does this food here compare to the club's?”
The question was so unexpected that Thane’s son sputtered, glancing nervously around the table till he met his father's eyes before blurting out, “Oh, it’s much better than the club’s, of course.”
He had barely let out the words when Thane’s face flushed a deep shade of crimson, clearly bristling with annoyance.
He opened his mouth, probably trying to defend his son, but I met his gaze with a piercing stare that shut him up immediately.
My unspoken command was clear—I didn't want any lies.
Casper seemed to sense the shift in the atmosphere, noticing his father's thunderous expression.
He quickly rose from his chair, nervously wrangling his hands in front of him as he stammered, “Princess… I… I.”
He started, but I cut him off. “Tell me the truth.” I snarled.
He glanced at his father, his eyes flooded with fear. “I promise I only went there to have fun. And the situation with Levi was all just a mere misunderstanding.”
“Is that so?” The tone was deceptively sweet, but my eyes were hard as steel. “Then explain it all to me, why did you bring Kael’s younger brother, Levi there? And then when the officials arrived, he was the only one left behind and caught when you both went there together?”
The boy took a huge gulp, his gaze darting to his father for help, but Thane sat frozen, clearly not prepared to make the situation worse than it already was.
Casper shifted on his feet uncomfortably, finally mumbling, “We didn’t do anything wrong. It was all set up. When the Ministry officials burst in, I… I panicked and ran. That’s why I wasn’t arrested.”
I watched his every move with interest, every twitch of his face, as he spoke. There was a hint of truth there, but I still wasn't sure the boy wasn't holding something back.
Leaning forward, I lowered my voice, my eyes glinting with suspicion. “So you are sure that's the entire truth?”
The boy stammered, “Yes Princess. I swear.”
From his tremors and the way his voice shook, I could see the pure fear expression.
I leaned back into my seat, that should be enough. From the boy’s story, it was clear that Levi was telling the truth.
He was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. But there was still one crucial question left to be answered: how had the accusations of treason against Kael’s family spread so quickly?
KAEL’S POV
I sat across from Isabelle in utter silence, my mind whirling. For all the rumours and stories I have heard about her as an idle, talentless princess, they all seemed like mere lies.
She was nothing like the rumours. She was showing cleverness and a subtle way of manipulating the conversation for her interest.
I was seeing her in a new light. She was not just simply digging for information—she was guiding the entire confession, and I couldn't stop myself from being both surprised and captivated.
And when she took my arm outside, without warning. The contact seemed so sudden, so bold, that a warmth crept through me.
I took an unconscious sniff of her intoxicating scent as my eyes kept darting back to her. She was simply a vision. Her long hair cascading down her back and her eye that seemed to draw me in. She was perfect, like a siren that called out to me and I couldn't ignore.
I could feel a strange sensation buzzing beneath my skin. I was suddenly aware of her every move, from the delicate way she lifted her fork to her crimson lips, to the way she led the conversation at the table
As she continued to serve me food, placing morsels on my plate with a smile, I just couldn’t help but feel drawn to her.
Staring at the softness in her gestures all balanced by the sharpness of her eyes. And, even though I fought within myself, I was beginning to feel my walls crumbling slowly.
As she wrapped up the interrogation and confirmed my brother's story, she leaned back with 3èa satisfied expression, shooting me a glance.
My cold expression broke for a genuine smile tugging at my lips. At that moment, there was no way to deny it— I was more than a bit captivated by her.
ISABELLE’S POVI was satisfied as Kael and I stepped out through the doors of Rowan's house. We have gotten the confirmation we needed: Kael’s brother was innocent of the rape and assault charge, even though the accusation of treason still loomed over him. My wolf nudged me with a sly suggestion, ‘You need to use this opportunity to extract more from Kael. After all, you had already solved half his problem.’ I smirked coyly, feeling a surge of confidence at the chance to take control.Whirling around to face Kael, I let out a casual sigh. “Well, I guess I have fulfilled my promise to prove your brother’s innocence—at least for the assault accusation,” I said, keeping my tone light but watching for his reaction.Kael's head snapped towards me, his eyes meeting mine filled with confusion. “What do you mean Isabelle?” He growled.“I mean, I'm done here. You now have evidence proving your brother is innocent of the assault charges.”“Wait, but we agreed to honour our deal once my brothe
KAEL’S POVThere was absolutely nothing I could do to shake the flustered feeling from Isabelle’s boldness. Her brash demands to have me in her bed were outrageous but she whispered them like it was absolutely normal.I felt trapped, not by her words, but by the intensity of her gaze as she stared at me waiting for a response. My ears flushed crimson, and an intense heat spread through my body, but I quickly quelled the fire, my jaw clenched in frustration. My instinct was to shut her down and end all of this. But I couldn't think of hesitating to deny her, not now that we were finally making some progress on the case.If Isabelle abandoned the investigation now, my brother’s life would be ruined, and I just couldn’t allow that to happen. For Levi's sake, I had reluctantly agreed to her terms, even though I was still reeling from the implications of her words. When Rowan offered to also help solve the case, I could see the reluctance in Isabelle's eyes that she was going to reject h
ISABELLE’S POVI frowned, turning to Kael, and asking, “What stories are they talking about?”Kael's expression darkened immediately, his jaw clenched as he muttered, “Just some fanciful tales.”The sudden harshness in his voice startled me for a moment. I still desperately wanted to press him further but decided against it, I could sense he didn't want to talk about the hidden stories.Since Kael was so hesitant to share the story for some reason, I guess I had to get it some other way. I was already intrigued and I had to know more about what the people were murmuring about.I turned around glancing at Rowan's stiff figure, my gaze flickering to the matrons still talking in hushed tones. “ Beta Rowan, what stories are they talking about?” I asked, my curiosity evident in my impatient tone.He raised his brows at me and I kept my expression stoic, our gaze clashed for a moment before he realised I was dead serious, he shifted uncomfortably on his feet, arms crossed across his chest a
ISABELLE’S POV Something about his presence stirred me. My wolf already intrigued. He looked like he'd been plucked right out of a painting, his features refined and simply perfection.“Are you alright?” I asked, my voice calm even as my heart skipped a beat.My body flushed with the same sensation I felt when I first laid eyes on Kael, a natural physical attraction I couldn't deny.Alan straightened, his pride untouched despite the humiliation. “Thank you, Miss. I’m fine.” He replied smoothly, with a graceful bow.I narrowed my eyes at the wealthy man, who seemed to take pleasure in tormenting him. Hiding a secret smirk, as I decided to put on a whole performance. With theatrical flair, I suddenly collapsed to the ground with a loud thud, gasping for air and clutching my chest like I was going to faint.l cried out, my voice trembling with false distress "The owner’s cruel words have caused my heart to falter,"The crowd gasped in shock as they watched me. Alan rushed over to help
ALAN’S POVThe bell of the cafe jingled as I stepped outside right after the strange woman. The cold wind hit me hard as I walked through the door, a stark constant from the casual warmth of the cafe.I straightened my back, still reeling from the confrontation inside. I followed her, her quick footsteps echoing on the sidewalk until she stopped at a quiet corner of the street, and whipped around to face me. I was a little taken aback just like before by her beauty, her clear blue eyes and plump lips. I stared at her, still very surprised that such a distinguished-looking young lady would go so far as to stand up for a homeless beggar that she hadn't met before. Her expression was calm and filled with determination as she held out the pouch of money Cain gave her towards me.“What–?” I questioned, narrowing my eyes at the brown leather pouch, swelling with coins.“Take it,” she said firmly.I shook my head, taking a step back away from her. “No, I certainly do not want charity,” I mu
ISABELLE’S POVI leaned back on the car, my eyes flickered the cafe's building, I turned to Kael and Rowan, “This café doesn't seem as simple now.” I muttered. “ There’s a very high chance it’s somehow tied to Pack officials. We’ll meet again tonight to investigate further at the clubhouse. I need to rest now.”With that I slammed the car door, settling into the comfort of the leather seats. “To the villa.” I ordered the driver. As the car's engine roared to life and we pulled out of the cafe's parking lot, I took a deep breath, shutting my eyes. I had survived too many close calls today and now I was finally safe. I could relax, and ease up my shoulders. I needed to take a deep long rest, I can't neglect myself, not after I barely escaped alive, now it was time to treat myself better.‘And the men? Kael, Rowan... Alan?’ My wolf asked.“I’m not worried about anything, in fact I had too many in my mind,” I replied with a smirk.‘To become memorable and linger in a man's thoughts, you
ISABELLE’S POVI pushed past them and lounged on the plush sofa, observing the awkward tension radiating from Rowan and Kael as they stared at me.They both stood still, on their guard, they looked unsure of what to do in a club. I gestured for them to sit down, patting the cushions on my sides with a sly smile.“Both of you need to relax and let go,” I teased. “You’re making it very obvious to everyone watching, you’ve never been to this sort of place.”They hesitated for a second, their eyes flickering over me with wariness before they crossed the distance and settled at my sides.Their warmth engulfed me, my body on high alert from their closeness, their distinct scents mixing in the air.Rowan sat stiffly, his expression slowly easing into something almost playful yet his eyes remained sharp and calculated. “Darling, it seems you’re quite at home here.” For a split second, the sudden pet name caught me off guard, and I faltered, my eyes snapping towards him.He looked a bit more
ISABELLE’S POVThe night air was brushed cooly against my skin and face as Rowan, Kael and I burst through the doors of the club. We stood outside the dimly lit club, after barely escaping the subtle traps Lyra spun inside for us.There was something about her that threw me off, the small change in her expression when I mentioned Casper. It was the tiniest movement and if I wasn't watching her closely I would have missed it.But I pushed that thought aside for now, as I turned around to face the two men, my eyes narrowing.“What,” I began, crossing my arms over my chest with a stern glare, my expression hardening, “was the meaning of what happened back there?” I questioned, tilting my head with raised brows. They both sputtered, their brows raised at me. They exchanged a glance filled with confusion before Rowan spoke up.“What do you mean, Isab–” Rowan started but I cut him off.“You know exactly what I'm talking about.” I growled. “I'm talking about the whole drama back there and
ISABELLE’S POVMy breath caught in my throat, but I quickly masked my reaction. “I am doing nothing of the sort, Rowan. I’m simply acting with what I see and observe. Perhaps you should do the same.”His eyes darkened, and his expression tightened. “Do you actually believe that I have any intentions towards her?” He growled, his frustration evident in his clenched jaw.Swallowing my unease for his closeness, I squared my shoulders. “Yes, Rowan. I do. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’d like some time alone without you following me around.”My heart was pounding from the tension between us, heavy and charged, but I refused to look down and walk away. His words hung in the air, heavy and dark. I stared at him, my mind racing. Why had he been waiting for me? What did he mean by what he was saying?Gathering my composure, my gaze flickered over him cautiously, “Tell me exactly why you were waiting for me?”His piercing gaze met mine and he stepped even closer, till there was only a single inch
ISABELLE’S POVI arched my eyebrows, tilting my head towards her. “And what is this matter that must be addressed?” I asked incredulously.I could see the envy shining in Tania's eyes and the clear irritation under her skin as she looked at Lila. She was going to find a way to bring her down at any cost, even if it meant lying. Her dark gaze shifted to Lila, her eyes narrowing with clear disdain. “This girl owes me something—an item that rightfully belongs to me. The necklace around her neck.”The room fell silent as all eyes turned to Tania with full attention. My expression hardened, and my wolf growled softly in my mind. ‘This girl’s arrogance knows no bounds.’ She snapped.I took a deep breath to remain calm, and then I cocked my head and asked, “And how does the necklace Lila is wearing suddenly belong to you, Lady Tania?”Tania straightened, clearly thrilled her plan to humiliate Lila seemed to be working. “Her necklace is a delicate piece, silver with a sapphire pendant. Lila
ISABELLE’S POV The intensity of his sharp look sent a chill down my spine, but I refused to let it show one bit. Instead, I cocked my head at him, arching my eyebrow and maintaining my composure. My wolf didn't stay quiet. ‘Told you meddling in his affairs wouldn’t end well. He seems furious. Are you satisfied now?’ she growled with disapproval.‘He’ll get over it,’ I shot back inwardly, not backing down for a second.Tristan stepped forward, his eyes darting between us, he could already sense the rising tension in the room and let out a light chuckle to diffuse it. “Then let’s forget about it,” he said, dismissing my proposition with a wave of his hand. The crowd began murmuring once again, their tones shifting.“It seems the princess has truly moved on from the Beta,” someone remarked.“Yes, she wouldn’t have proposed it otherwise,” another agreed.Once Matilda stepped away, the crowd eased up and dispersed. Rowan shot me one last look before he also turned around and walked away
ISABELLE’S POVThe murmurs instantly ceased, and a line cleared amongst the crowd as they quickly stepped aside for me to walk past all bowing in unison. I walked in with a tiara that accentuated my royal bearing, but as I stepped inside, I could feel Rowan's presence right behind me.I quickened my pace, to put some distance between us, but I could still feel him trailing close behind me, his presence frustratingly too close.I threw a sharp glance over my shoulder, my voice low but firm. “Why must you follow me everywhere?”Rowan smirked, unfazed by my question or my demeanor. “It would be improper for me to distance myself from the princess, don’t you think?”My wolf snickered, clearly irritated by his cockiness.I quickened my pace, determined to shake off the rumours that my entrance with Rowan would soon spark. I could feel the eyes of the crowd boring through us, I knew they would soon start gossiping about us being back together.I needed to escape him so I quickly strode tow
ISABELLE’S POV“You think you belong here?” one of the women at the head of the circle sneered. “With such an ugly dress? Did you sew it yourself?”The circle erupted in laughter. “Honestly, the audacity of some ugly paupers to show up to the palace New Year banquet in nothing but rags.”My blood boiled as I watched the scene unfold. My attention remained fixed on the group gathered near the bushes. At their centre stood a tall slender woman, with dark luscious hair, her voice sharp as she mocked a plainly dressed girl clutching a necklace.“You dare bring this cheap trinket to a royal ball?” she sneered, yanking the necklace from her hands. The girl in the middle held her head up high despite the humiliation and mocking. “That necklace was my mother’s. Please return it,” she asked calmly, although her voice was shaking with emotions. The bully's lips curled into a cruel smile as she held the necklace up with one finger. “Why would I return this trash to you?” She mocked.“Please, d..
ISABELLE’S POVAlan looked away, his voice barely audible. “You are clearly of noble descent. And I'm just a struggling painter trying to make ends meet. We are from very different worlds.”For a moment, I stared at him and didn’t know what to say. Hearing such words from Alan touched me more than I expected.“You’re wrong,” I spat out, my voice sharp and firm. “Alan, you’re one of the most confident, most talented people I have ever met. Our worth isn’t defined by titles or wealth.”Alan’s eyes flicked up to meet mine, and for a moment, there was tense silence between us.I leaned in closer to him, our warm breaths mingling in the air between us. “I don’t care about status or wealth,” I whispered, my voice gentle and tender. “Those things don’t matter to me.”His face turned a deeper shade of crimson, his body trembling beside mine. I giggled softly, and I couldn't resist leaning in and pressing a gentle kiss to his cold cheek. Alan froze, his heart pounding loud enough for me to he
ROWAN’S POVShe hesitated for a second, biting her lower lip. “She’s already invited me, hasn't she? Maybe... maybe it’s time I stopped seeing her as my enemy. I don’t think she hates me anymore.”I studied her closely through the mirror, my brows furrowed. Matilda had always been timid, hiding behind others. But deep down, I knew she wasn't a bad person.“Well then, I guess I'll come with you,” I said after a moment.Matilda smiled faintly. “Thank you, Rowan,” she whispered.Despite my calm exterior, I was feeling a strange tension gnawing at me. Something was disturbing me and—it was Isabelle. For some reason I couldn't explain, I also wanted more interactions with her. Ever since she suddenly stopped clinging to me or chasing me, I couldn’t shake the unease I was feeling in my gutIt was as though I lost something without even realizing it.ISABELLE’S POVOnce I left the supermarket, I went straight to Alan’s modest home with the groceries I bought. My mind still wandered briefly
ISABELLE’S POVI turned around, only to find myself face-to-face with Beta Rowan. He had a dark scowl on his face, but his stern expression immediately softened when he saw Matilda still lying helplessly on the floor. Before I could say a single word, she scrambled off the ground and rushed towards him to stand behind his towering figure, clutching his arm and casting a wary glance back at me with an innocent expression.Rowan watched the scene with confusion, his gaze flickering between us. His frown deepened when he looked down at Matilda behind him.“What’s going on here?” Rowan asked, his deep voice filled with concern as he looked between both of us.Matilda, looked up at him with her doe-like eyes, “I-It’s nothing, really. Princess Isabelle was just... pressuring me.” she said, her voice trembling.Rowan's eyes whipped back towards me, a deep frown marrying his features. I could see the questions in his gaze, wondering who to believe.I can't believe Matilda would go as far as l
RYKER’S POVI stared at Isabelle in utter shock, her confident confession hanging heavy in the air between us. Her words were bold and direct, cutting through my usual stoic defences like a sharp blade.“I’m here because of you,” she said and I couldn't get her voice out of my head.It wasn’t just her words but the way she said them—with so much sincerity and brashness—that managed to throw me off balance. For the first time in so many years, I was not sure of how to respond. For a man like me, used to control, logic and order, the raw emotion I could feel in her voice left me almost speechless. My wolf growled, urging me to respond and acknowledge the feelings stirring deep within me. But I just couldn’t, I needed to leave.I was flustered under her prying gaze, my face turning a deep shade of red that spread down my neck.I took a step back, “I... I need to review a case file,” I blurted, stumbling over my words as I quickly retreated.Without waiting for her reply, I spun on my he
