ISABELLE'S POV

As I stepped back out of the palace, I allowed myself a brief moment of triumph. I took a deep breath of the cold air carrying fragrance from the royal gardens and smiled.

I did it, I have finally succeeded in conquering my first target. My fingers instinctively reached out to the small crook of my neck, touching the mark on my skin that Kael left, with a small self-satisfied smile playing on my lips.

Conquering a General was no easy feat, especially one as cold and controlled as Kael. At first, I thought it was impossible but Kael melted right into my hands.

I glanced up above my head and I could see the time ticking on the countdown had been extended. I let out a deep exhale, shutting my eyes for a second with relief.

Although I was grateful to achieve one goal, I knew I couldn't stop, my death was still looming like a dark cloud over me and if I let go now, I would never be able to break the curse.

My death was just delayed, but I have not yet ended the curse. The clock was still ticking above me, and I needed to start planning my move on my next target with precision.

Alan. The artist.

In the following days after Kael left for war, I found myself wandering the familiar street where Alan used to have his stall to sell his paintings.

I searched for the artist, but he was nowhere to be found, it was almost like he disappeared into thin air. Every day I was sure I was going to finally see him but he was never there.

Frustration built in me until I had no other choice but to ask a nearby vendor about his whereabouts.

“Oh, Alan? Poor guy,” the vendor said with a deep sigh and a frown. My heart skipped a beat at the vendor's sad reaction.

“What happened to him?” I snapped.

“He got beaten up a few days ago. Been recovering at home since.”

I blinked, momentarily stunned. “Beaten up? Why?”

The vendor leaned closer, dropping the volume of his voice dramatically, his voice as though he was sharing a very scandalous secret.

“A married woman kept visiting his stall, flirting shamelessly with him. Her husband found out and thought Alan was having an affair with her. The guy lost his mind and taught poor Alan a harsh lesson.”

‘A disaster magnet’, I thought as I shook my head slowly. He was always getting in some type of trouble.

“And do you know where he lives?” I asked, leaning in with expectation.

The vendor hesitated, accessing me for a moment, and then he nodded. After he gave me Alan’s address, he added, “Be safe around him.”

I wasted no time giving the driver the address and in a few minutes, I arrived at Alan’s residence.

I slid out of the car staring at the building with squinted eyes. The driver gave me a questioning glance and then I nodded in response as I slammed the car door shut.

I pulled my cloak tighter as I approached the red brick house. It was quaint and small with hardly any windows and a low wooden door.

As I approached the entrance, the scene I stumbled upon was nothing short of chaos.

A stout, blonde woman stood outside the modest apartment door, her expression tight as her fist pounding against the wood with full force. Her loud booming voice was shrill and furious, echoing down the street.

I narrowed my eyes at her as I got closer, wondering what was happening.

“I’m leaving him for you, Alan! I’m divorcing my husband for you.” She shouted, her face red and flushed.

Her breaths were heavy, her chest heaving as she kept screaming at the closed door. “Don’t you dare ignore me!” she screamed, her cheeks flushed with either rage or desperation or maybe both.

I watched her with pure disbelief and confusion for a moment, wondering if I should consider intervening.

Eventually, my curiosity won as I continued advancing towards the door and the raging woman. I approached her slowly, my heels clicking against the cobblestone pavement.

“Do you even know who lives here?” I asked coolly, crossing my arms over my chest.

The woman whirled around, her dark tear-filled eyes suddenly fixed on me. She seemed surprised for a moment before her mascara-streaked eyes narrowed. “Of course I do! This is my future husband’s house!” She snorted with a haughty expression.

I raised an eyebrow, cocking my head towards her. “Future husband? Are you sure he sees it that way?”

She sputtered for a moment taken aback by my question. Her face contorted with anger, her eyes glaring daggers at me. “And who the hell are you to ask? What does this have to do with you, what are you even doing here?”

“You haven't answered my question,” I replied, with a sly smile I knew would only annoy her further.

“And I said who the hell are you?” She snarled, taking a step towards me.

I ignored her, taking my time and staring down to inspect my nails with a dramatic flair. I flashed her a nonchalant smile as her face reddened even further.

“Answer me!” She growled.

My eyes snapped towards her and I smirked darkly, my voice dropping to a dangerous sweetness. “I’m Alan’s girlfriend.”

The woman’s eyes widened in shock before narrowing with venom. “You’re a dirty liar.” She screamed at me. “ You tramp! Alan would never cheat on me!”

I let out a harsh laughter, closing the distance between us. “I don't think Alan even cares about you,” I replied, my tone sharper now.

The woman’s fury boiled over, the air between us heating up with rage.

She rushed towards me at full speed and she raised a trembling hand, preparing to slap me across my cheek.

I didn't see it coming and I froze but before the blow could land on my face, the door swung open.

ISABELLE'S POVAlan’s cheeks were still flushed and red as I broke into a soft hearty laugh, breaking through the silence and nervousness. “Relax Alan, I didn’t mean to embarrass you,” I said lightly, with a dismissive wave. “I admire your artwork and advanced skill. I was hoping you could…maybe tutor me.”Alan blinked, caught off guard by my sudden request. “Tutor you?” He echoed, raising his eyebrows. “I didn’t even know you could paint.”I shrugged, my lips tugging into a faint smile. “Painting is like a hobby to me, but I’d like to learn more from someone as talented as you,” I responded. For a moment, Alan watched me closely, narrowing his eyes, probably trying to figure out if I was actually serious. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly dropping his mug on the wooden table with a thud.“I... I’d be happy to teach you. But are you sure you want to do this? Painting takes a lot of time, patience and focus.”“I have a lot of time on my hands and I can focus,” I replied simply

ALAN’S POVA few days passed, but I couldn’t stop thinking about that strange woman. The memory of her standing up for me against the blonde woman was etched in my brain, filling me with warmth and also a hint of confusion. I just couldn't understand why she would go out of her way to protect someone like me who was well beneath her. And what troubled me most was the unexplainable attraction I felt towards her. When she was near, it felt like I couldn't control myself, like there was an invisible force leading me to her.My wolf stirred within him, a voice soft yet insistent. ‘Perhaps she is our mate.’ He hinted.I shook my head frantically, trying to push the spiralling thoughts away. It wasn’t possible. A woman like her—strong, confident, and surely from a prestigious family—couldn’t be destined for someone as lowly as him. But the possibility clung to me, igniting a dangerous hope. I couldn't help but fantasize that maybe she likes me too, and she could feel the pull.I stopped m

ISABELLE’S POVThe woman’s brother finally seemed to grasp the gravity of the situation. His face paled as rushed forward and tried to calm his sister, whispering harshly for her to stop and think. Yet, she ignored him only growing even more hysterical. She hurled insults at me, her voice echoing through the large courtroom.“You think you are untouchable just because you have a noble title!” she spat. “I know what you are, you are nothing but a spoiled brat!”I raised an eyebrow at her, unfazed by the outburst even as her brother struggled to hold her back. I turned to glance at Ryker, who now wore a dark and thunderous expression.“Enough,” Ryker snapped, his voice sharp and commanding. He signaled the guards. “Restrain this madwoman.”As the guards started slowly closing in on her, Nora fought back hard, her arms flailing wildly around her, but the guards were stronger and we'll build and quickly subdued her. RYKER’S POVAs they left the confinement room, Ryker observed Isabelle’s composed demeanour. Most people, even seasoned officials, would emerge shaken from witnessing the devices designed to enforce justice. But Isabelle was different. She seemed almost... intrigued.“Lady Isabelle,” I began cautiously, my deep voice echoing slightly in the hallway. “You didn’t flinch in that room. Were you not afraid even for a single second?”She turned to me, her lips tugged in a small confident smile. “Why would I be afraid? I have never committed a crime,” she responded, holding my gaze steadily. “Really,” I muttered with a hint of amusement, a little taken aback by her straightforwardness.“In fact, the presence and existence of those tools and that room in our judicial system only reassures me. They help ensure that justice prevails and deters crime and wrongdoings.”I was stunned for a moment and utterly speechless. I had never expected such an insightful response from the princess. Most p

TRISTAN’S POVI sat in my study swirling my scotch in the glass and staring out the window. I couldn’t help but smile wryly, thinking about Isabelle's pursuit of love—or what she thought love was. She had always been dating and when she set her sights on something, she wasn't going to let go until she had exactly what she wanted. I guess General Kael’s rejection hadn’t stopped her at all; instead, she’d simply redirected her attention to Officer Ryker.“Stubborn as ever,” I muttered under my breath, shaking his head, with a dry chuckle. But my amusement was suddenly clouded by concern. Ryker was no ordinary man. He had a famous reputation for hard discipline and his rigid reverence to rules, he was a very difficult figure to impress or charm. Isabelle’s usual tricks would never work on him. And I was worried about how much she might push herself to get his attention.Later that evening, I sent out a private message to Ryker, asking him to meet me at the palace. When he arrived, his

She was going to find a way to bring her down at any cost, even if it meant lying. Her dark gaze shifted to Lila, her eyes narrowing with clear disdain. “This girl owes me something—an item that rightfully belongs to me. The necklace around her neck.”The room fell silent as all eyes turned to Tania with full attention. My expression hardened, and my wolf growled softly in my mind. ‘This girl’s arrogance knows no bounds.’ She snapped.I took a deep breath to remain calm, and then I cocked my head and asked, “And how does the necklace Lila is wearing suddenly belong to you, Lady Tania?”Tania straightened, clearly thrilled her plan to humiliate Lila seemed to be working. “Her necklace is a delicate piece, silver with a sapphire pendant.
