LOTUS

Six years on…

"You can't do anything right, you lowly omega! Get out of my sight!"When I accidentally spilled the drink on the table, Arthur yelled at me."I'm sorry," I said.The cleaner attempted to clean up the mess, but Charlotte stopped her.She gave me a disgusted expression before saying."What distinguishes you from this maid?"You're nothing more than a lowly omega, so clean it with your tongue."

When I heard her comments, I felt a surge of rage within me as I was fed up with her already.She has no right to treat me in that way."You seem to be forgetting your place so easily; I'm still your Luna queen; don't talk to me like that."

I could see her stunned expression before it was replaced by a smirk when Arthur interjected."Are you not embarrassed to call yourself Luna queen?"the Luna queen who is unable to provide a successor to the alpha king"

When I heard his words to me, my heart ached.Six years ago, I would have begun crying right now, but things have changed, six years have passed, and I'm tired of being treated as if I'm nothing by him.I've promised myself that I will never again cry before him again but that doesn't change the fact that I was hurt by his actions,he is the man I have loved for six years,the man I have dedicated my life to.Without saying anything else, I raced out of the dining room so I wouldn't cry in front of them.As soon as I walked into my room, I sank on the floor and placed my hands on my throbbing chest, tears streaming down my cheeks.

Arthur was the one who gave my life meaning after my mother died six years ago."Don't cry any longer, you are not alone because you have me, your mate, I'm your family now and I will make you happy, I'm the alpha king, you will be my Luna queen and I will protect you," he told me six years ago while I was conscious after being struck down by his horse.

When I discovered out he was my mate, I felt like Cinderella.Every woman in the werewolf nation wished to be mated to the most feared Alpha of Crescent Moon Pack, the most powerful pack.He was not only the Alpha of Crescent Moon Pack, but also the Alpha King of the Werewolf Kingdom because we practiced monarchy.He commanded the 150 powerful alphas of the kingdom's 150 packs.I was not even worthy of being his mate owing to my omega status, yet he accepted me nonetheless, and he made me believe that I was exceptional and rare.He looked after me and gave me the love I had always desired. He treated me like I was a special type of egg.

He helped me to overcome the grief of losing my mother.He made me fall madly in love with him to the point that I couldn't think of anything else but him, but all changed after a year when I discovered I couldn't bear him a kid.He changed his demeanor toward me and became aloof.I tried everything I could to mend our connection, but nothing seemed to work; he didn't even want to see my face.The pain I was suffering was exacerbated when Charlotte moved into the castle with us.

When I asked about his relationship with Charlotte, he said she was only a friend, but something in me told me there more to their relationship.I suspected they were having an affair behind my back, but I refused to believe it.I could only hope she was merely a friend.I can put up with their insults and shame, but I can't put up with him cheating on me.

"My queen," I recognized the voice as my Lady in Waiting."Is it the king and Lady Charlotte again?" she inquired, and I turned to face her, my eyes welling up."I'm tired; I want to abandon him so he can be happy, but I can't."I adore him and can't bear the thought of losing him."

"Do you think he'll ever love you again?"I shook my head in response to her question."I'm sick of hoping, and I'm exhausted."

"Sheesh," she said as she hugged me and patted my back."Don't say that, he's your mate, and you are the only woman who have right to him,put Lady Charlotte in her place,she is breaking you and the alpha king apart, don't let her win"

My lady in waiting was correct; Charlotte needed to be put in her place.I wiped my tears away before rising to my feet."I'll be back," I told her as I exited the room and made my way to the dining area.

When I arrived, I felt as if my heart was being wounded by the scene before me.Charlotte and Arthur were passionately kissing each other.I could feel their love just by looking at them in each other's arms.My mate and hubby was in love with another woman, and this was the answer to my inquiry over the years.This also explains why he no longer pays any attention to me.This is the reason why he didn't want to give me a chance to bear him a child.

They let go of each other as soon as they sensed my presence.Arthur had a stunned expression on his face, while Charlotte was triumphantly smiling.I approached them slowly because I was speechless."How dare you?"I yelled.

Charlotte's face grew scarlet as I slapped her hard.She wanted to hit my back, but my words made her withdraw her already extended hands. "Come on, slap me if you really want to experience my wrath," I said.

"I've tolerated so many insults from you, but I can't stand infidelity," I told Arthur.

"You shouldn't blame me; you should blame yourself for being barren," he responded.I tightened my fists and gazed at him aggressively as I considered the best way to address the situation.I knew that no matter what I said, he'd always treat me like garbage, and I needed to wake up.This isn't the man I fell for six years ago.It's past time for me to accept my fate and face reality.

"I get it; I blame myself for everything." I said as I didn't want to exchange words with him anymore.I'm exhausted already.This Same thing has been going on for years.

"I never asked for your love; I was lost and helpless when you came into my life and taught me how to live again; when I fell madly in love with you, you abandoned me and began acting strangely."All I have to say is thank you for everything. Thank you for giving me a surname when I didn't have one," I said to him, tears welling up in my eyes. I couldn't tell what he was thinking because he didn't show any emotion when he looked at me.

"I, Lotus Wettin, Luna queen of Crescent Moon pack, and all 150 packs that comprise the werewolf kingdom, reject you, Arthur Wettin, as my mate and king from today onwards."I have nothing to do with you anymore, and I have no obligations to you; you are free to do whatever you want,you " I told him.I could tell he was in pain by the look on his face."You are free to get a woman who is not barren"I added the last word which made my heart ache more.

I looked at Charlotte, who was looking at me in disbelief."I may have willingly resigned from my position, but that doesn't imply you're free."I will see to it that you are punished in accordance with the law of the land for this betrayal," I stated to her before walking away.

Even though I couldn't feel the mate bond between Arthur and me because my wolf hadn't awoken, I knew that the misery I was feeling now was worse than the pain I'd heard werewolves experience when they rejected their mate.
