Keerthi woke up to the sound of bath running,as she sat up ,yawning.
"Why are you getting ready so early?"
"I have to leave early", Vikram tilted his chin up, wearing a tie around his neck.
"Okay", Keerthi replied, getting up to freshen up.
Vikram was arranging some papers in his laptop bag when his eyes fell on the gift wrapped item. He took it out, quickly placing it his closet, knowing Keerthi didn't mess with his things usually.
He went back to checking the papers, arranging them in a folder,as he zipped his laptop bag, when he heard his wife walk out, getting ready.
Vikram had long left their room when Keerthi made way downstairs
Keerthi was about to leave for work when she heard her mother in law,"I forgot to inform you Keerthi. We have to go to Mrs. Roy's place today. It's their house warming ceremony. She is a good friend of ours. She insisted you and Vikram be there. Try to be a little early today?""Oh. What time Mom?""Around three Okay for you?"Keerthi tried hard not to let her thoughts be seen on her face,"Sure Mom."Keerthi was an employee, not the employer. Did her mother in law randomly expect Keerthi to be home early without any intimation at work?At times, Keerthi hated being a married woman. She despised going to these functions. Now,she was o
"You have a beautiful daughter in law Sakshi",Mrs. Oberoi said.Keerthi gave the elder lady a polite smile as she stood next to her mother in law, breathing a sigh of relief when she got away from her husband.Keerthi wondered how he could make her feel diverse emotions. She loved his company some times, and at times, she couldn't stand him.She switched her thoughts off , getting into a conversation with the ladies, who were determined to include her in their talks.Keerthi's jaw ached from smiling so long,it was getting difficult to be polite and smiling. And she almost tripped on her saree three times already. She just wanted to go home. She ate silently, hoping to leave after dinner.
Keerthi was moisturizing her hands when her husband walked out of the washroom in a blue track pant and a grey T-shirt. Her heart thudded when Vikram walked towards her. Were they going to fight? Keerthi didn't want to. But she was surprised when her husband wrapped his arms around her from behind, nuzzling the crook of her neck. Keerthi was unprepared for the disappointment that coursed through her veins when her husband peppered kisses on her neck. Her eyes watered involuntarily, unpleasant thoughts running in her mind. She shut her eyes, why was her husband being affectionate. Was she delusional to think they have had an argu
Keerthi pinched her lips thin. She couldn't say anything to that. Her husband openly admitted aloud his imperfection and asked her to understand. She knew he was only human. Each had their set of imperfections. Her husband had his, just like she had hers'. They had to accept the others' imperfections and move on. This was something she had to do for him. "Okay. Can you try something too,if I ask?", Keerthi started out carefully. Vikram smiled,"Of course." "Can you please not say I like have arguments and berate me everytime I cry?" Vikram stared at his wife,he didn't know his
Vikram bit his tongue before he could blurt anything out, abruptly pulling away. It would just be a recipe for disaster if he confessed his feeling to his wife. They were progressing in their marriage, slowly. But still, there was progress. It would be a complete U-turn if he said anything. He didn't know how his wife would react if he told her he loved her. She would probably think he said that to sleep with her, Vikram's lips twitched at the thought. He turned to his wife,to find her staring at him wide eyed, her cheeks pink. He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear,his eyes taking in his wife's features.
Vikram was surprised to see everyone in the living room, chatting away when he had arrived from work.He greeted his parents, slapped the back of his brother's head and gave his wife a smile."Make me a coffee, yeah?", Vikram said, looking between his wife and mother.Keerthi smiled, walking into the kitchen as her husband went upstairs to freshen up.Vikram freshened up,taking his laptop and charger with him as he sat on the couch. He wanted to spend some time with his family.Though he probably wouldn't contribute to the conversation,he wanted to be in their presence.Work had kept him busy the past few days.
Keerthi was pleasantly surprised when her husband hugged her from behind when she was about to get into bed.She half expected him to pick his laptop and go to the study room."You said you have work?", Keerthi stretched her neck, glancing at her husband, their cheeks grazing against each others'.Vikram smiled, kissing his wife's cheek, biting it softly,"You don't want to spend time with your husband?"Keerthi laughed at the question, how ironic,"The question is coming from the wrong person.""As in?", Vikram turned his wife around, locking his hands around her waist."Just", Keerthi shrugged, run
Keerthi glared at the wall in front of her. The clock struck ten thirty. Her husband still wasn't home.He had left before she even woke up yesterday and came backaftershe had slept. She missed him.She only waited for him tonight because he said he didn't have dinner in the office. She wanted to at least look at his face while he ate. She missed it.Vikram walked into the house at Eleven fifteen,he pecked his wife in a greeting and made way to his room to freshen up.Keerthi glared at her husband's back, they hadn't even kissed properly in the last few days, for crying out loud. She tho
