Giovanni’s face darkened, his expression turning icy upon hearing Mr. Walton's disrespectful reference to Josh. He couldn't believe that someone would be bold enough to insult his grandson in front of him.

Even if Giovanni hadn’t been there earlier, Giovanni wondered why anyone would disrespect his grandson in the first place. Hadn’t they realized who Josh was already? Giovanni had made a point of introducing Josh to many people that night to ensure his identity was known, so he assumed Mr. Walton was aware of who Josh was. The fact that Mr. Walton had still gone on to insult him seemed baffling to Giovanni. It was as if they were daring fate itself, how could anyone be so reckless as to insult his grandson in front of him? Were they tired of living?

The insult aimed at his grandson was unacceptable, and Giovanni couldn’t stand by silently. Fixing his gaze on Mr. Walton, Giovanni’s voice was low but filled with menace. “You’ll refrain from insulting my family in my presence,” he said

Chris Walton struggled to accept the revelation. How on earth could Josh be related to Giovanni De La Cruz, let alone be his grandson? It all sounded like a made-up lie to him. However Giovanni had no reason to deceive him, so Chris had no choice but to believe it. It had to be the truth. It wouldn't even matter whether he chose to believe it or not anyways, because either way, Giovanni was involved and he was on Josh's side. The truth was undeniable, Josh was indeed Giovanni's grandson. A wave of regret washed over Chris as he began to realize how bad this was. He had made a big mistake. Only if someone had told him that the young man who had approached him and introduced himself earlier was actually a De La Cruz, then Chris wouldn't have been so rude to him. Chris had taken the fact that Josh had been nice and humble towards him earlier as weakness. He thought Josh was just a nobody who wasn't on his level and was unworthy of his respect or attention. Plus the fact that Amelia was

The room was filled with the murmur of the crowd, their astonished whispers growing louder as they wondered what Giovanni's grandson was going to do to the person who had wronged him earlier. It was no longer a secret that Chris Walton had dared to attack Josh De La Cruz at this event earlier. No doubt a foolish and dangerous move from Mr Walton. Everyone knew he was about to face serious consequences for that. So, would Giovanni's grandson exact his revenge on Mr. Walton? The anticipation filled the air, with everyone eager to see how Josh would handle the situation and what retribution Walton would face.It wasn't about if he was going to get his revenge or not? The answer was already obvious. He was A De La Cruz, so of course he was going to get his revenge from the person who had wronged him! The real question was; how was Josh going to take his revenge? What was he going to do to Mr Walton? The event attendees watched intently as their gaze shifted between Josh and Giovanni, eag

Lilith had no comment on Josh’s actions. She could see Mrs. Washington’s disappointment, the frustration appearing on her face as she watched the man who was supposed to be the future son-in-law of their family display complete weakness in front of more than a hundred people. Mrs. Washington shook her head in disdain, her voice dripping with scorn as she continued to speak on Josh. “What a disgrace,” she murmured, loud enough for those around her to hear. Her displeasure with Josh was justifiable according to herself. How could a soon to be son-in-law of hers act like that? He let someone who had put hands on him earlier walk away without a consequence? To her, it wasn’t just a show of weakness from Josh, it also revealed a lack of self-respect. If Josh had any, he would show no mercy and would have taught the man who dared to disrespect him a lesson. “Giovanni must be very disappointed. Total weakness from Josh. A real De La Cruz would’ve made Walton pay. No hesitation, no mercy.”

Josh knew some people had expected him to act differently, more ruthlessly, more like a true ‘De La Cruz.’ Giovanni hadn’t said much, but the silence bothered him. It was a silence that spoke volumes, making Josh wonder if his grandfather shared the same doubts as the others. Not wanting to dwell on it any longer, Josh pulled out his phone, deciding to put the night behind him. He quickly dialed his bodyguard and driver to come and pick him up, hoping to escape the weight of the evening as soon as possible. Not long after he made the phone call, a sleek black Rolls-Royce pulled up in front of him. His bodyguard stepped out of the vehicle and silently opened the door, waiting for Josh to get in. As Josh took a step forward, ready to leave the night behind, he heard the soft but distinct sound of footsteps approaching him from behind.Josh paused on his tracks, his hand resting on the car door, and glanced back over his shoulder, catching sight of a familiar figure moving toward him. Josh moved quickly down the stairs, his heartbeat thundering in his chest as he pursued the mysterious figure. Hoping to catch up to him and ask him questions. The shadowy intruder was swift, sprinting through the mansion’s dimly lit corridors with ease, his footsteps barely making a sound. Despite Josh's best efforts, he struggled to keep up, his shoes hitting the polished floor heavily as he turned corner after corner, desperate to close the distance."Hey! Stop!" Josh called out, but the figure showed no sign of slowing down. Josh picked up pace, and he could feel frustration building up inside him, with each second, the man’s elusive speed almost mocking him. Although Josh was trying his best to run fast and catch up,his attempts were futile, he couldn't catch up with the man. They reached the grand staircase leading to the main entrance, and just as Josh rounded the last bend, he caught a little glimpse of the figure slipping out of a side door into the night. The next day, at around 7 in the morning, Josh arrived at college, he walked down the campus grounds, passing by a group of guys standing near the main hallway, their excited chatter filtering through as he moved by. He didn’t know what they were talking about but neither did he care at first, however when they mentioned a familiar name he was slightly curious."Did you see Isabella’s stream last night? Man, she looked incredible!"Some guy dressed in red jeans and a jacket said in enthusiasm.Isabella. Was one of the hottest girls on campus and an online streamer, who played video games, with quite a good following. Josh had heard the name plenty of times, seen her once or twice in passing, but he didn’t pay it much mind. He even donated to her stream a few days ago, but he had done that for fun, and nothing else, not because he wanted to be noticed by her or something, unlike the other people. But he had to say that the way people seemed to talk about her like she was some goddess

The students' eyes locked onto Josh, his posture straightening as he tried to intimidate him. "You really think you can tell me what to do, huh?" He sneered. "Move the fuck away or you're going to get it!"Josh didn’t move, "You’re the one who should," he said, his tone calm but commanding. "You’re bothering her, and I’m not going to ignore it."Andrea shifted uneasily beside him, glancing at the guy before looking back at Josh. She wanted to tell him to just leave it, to avoid any more confrontations with Ace, but she stayed quiet, hoping Josh could finally scare him and his friend Ron into leaving her alone. Ever since she started at this college, Ace and Ron had been relentlessly bothering her, asking her out over and over. She had turned them down countless times, but they never stopped, it had turned into harassment at this point.Ace took a step closer, chest puffed out as he tried to make himself more intimidating, hoping Josh would back off,"Why the couch are you still on my f

Not long after Ron and Ace walked away, the bell rang, and Josh, Mae, and Andrea started hurrying to their classes. Each of them had different schedules, and while Josh and Andrea knew exactly where to go, Mae was still new. She hadn’t been assigned a class yet, so she had to meet with the principal first.“I’ll catch up with you guys later,” she said, looking at Josh and Andrea. Andrea gave her an encouraging nod. “Don’t worry, you’ll fit right in.”Josh simply offered a small nod before heading off toward his lecture hall, his mind already elsewhere. Not long later, Mae walked into the principal's office. The principal was a lady in her early forties or probably late thirties. She was dressed modestly but elegantly. “Take a seat.” The principal instructed Mae. Mae nodded and sat down. The principal studied Mae for a moment, her fingers tapping lightly against the desk. Shs was uncomfortable deep down for some reason, although she didn't show it on the outside. “You do understan

Mr. Ramirez’s gaze remained cold as he looked at Dante. “Where is this… Reaper?” he asked Dante hesitated, shaking his head in denial. “I… I don’t know, sir.”Mr. Ramirez studied him for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Before he could say anything else, the waiting room doors burst open.Mateo’s parents, Catalina and Dean, rushed inside, their faces filled with worry. Marco followed closely behind them, equally as worried.“Dad, how is my son? Where is Mateo?” Catalina asked, her voice shaking.Josh tensed as he watched them. It was the first time he had ever seen Mateo’s parents in person. Since Matteo was his cousin, then the woman must be his mom's sister, his aunt. Josh also noticed a resemblance between her and him, it was subtle but still noticeable. Mr. Ramirez turned to them. “I have spoken to the doctor. He is stable… we’ll be able to see him soon.”A shaky breath of relief escaped Dean's mouth. “Thank God.”Catalina clutched her husband’s arm, but the worry in

Reaper stepped back, yanking the knife free from Mateo's side.Mateo staggered backward, his hand instinctively flying to his side, pressing against the wound. He felt weak, struggling to stay on his feet.Warm blood seeped between his fingers. His breath came out in uneven gasps, his body refusing to keep up with what had just happened. He did not think Reaper would pull a knife and take this too far.Josh was in shock for 5 full seconds, but as soon as he was back to his senses he called out, “Mateo!” He lunged forward, catching his cousin before he could collapse completely. The garage fell into stunned silence. Even The Ghosts looked momentarily unsure, shifting uncomfortably as if they hadn't expected Reaper to take it this far.Leo swore under his breath and rushed to Mateo’s side. “Shit. Quick, we need to get him out of here. Now.”Dante, who had been frozen in shock, suddenly snapped back to reality. He turned to Reaper, his expression unreadable. “What the fuck did you just do

Mateo exhaled loudly, his irritation evident. “I can’t believe Dante invited those guys,” he muttered, shaking his head.Just then, as if summoned by the complaint, a man around Mateo’s age approached them. “What’s up, fellas?” he greeted cheerfully, completely ignorant to Mateo’s scowl.Mateo frowned as he glared at him. “Dante, what the fuck! You invited that guy here?” He asked angrily, but in a hushed tone. Dante frowned. “What are you talking about?” Mateo gestured toward the Ghosts with a glare. “Why the hell are they here?”“Oh, you mean Reaper and his friends?” Dante rubbed the back of his neck, realizing what he had done by inviting Reaper here. He didn't think Mateo would be here when he invited Reaper. But now, he realized that he shouldn't have, not only was Mateo probably feeling betrayed by him, but the whole party was nervous and they were right to be so. “Yeah… I told them to stop by.” Dante replied.“Why?”Dante sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Look, it’

Four people walked through the door, and strolled in like they owned the place.Josh didn’t recognize them, but the party’s reaction told him everything he needed to know. These guys weren’t just regular party guests. He overheard snippets of whispers around him. Everyone was surprisingly talking about how much trouble these guys were. That they shouldn't be here.“Shit, what are they doing here?” Someone asked irritably.“Who the hell invited the ghosts here?”“This is about to get messy…”As Josh listened more he caught the name. The four guys who walked in were members of The Ghosts, a gang known for their ruthless reputation and the fear they left in their wake. They weren’t just infamous, they were the kind of people no one wanted to cross. Wherever they showed up, trouble followed, and from the way the entire party fell silent, it was clear everyone knew it.The group walked in confidently, completely unfazed by the attention they were getting. One of them, a tall guy, known as

Josh's eyes widened slightly at Mae's question. What made her think she was a De La Cruz? Well, the De La Cruz family was one of the college's sponsors, so it wasn’t surprising that some people might assume things.Plus, Mae didn't assume anything wrong. Still, no one was supposed to know he was a De La Cruz, yet.Just as Josh was about to answer Mae’s question, the professor’s voice sounded in their ears."New girl, Mr. Josh, if you're done with your little conversation, perhaps you’d like to pay attention to the lesson?" The professor sad sternly.Josh immediately turned back to face the front, straightening in his seat. Mae also did the same, however there was an amused glint in her eyes.Josh exhaled quietly. He was glad that the professor had intervened because that was close. He wasn’t sure how much Mae actually knew about him, but for now, the topic had been dropped, at least for the moment. After classes ended, Josh left campus and arrived home in the evening. The moment he s

“Uh... umm...” The student stammered, his earlier confidence disappearing. Josh’s calm yet commanding demeanor, his unblinking gaze, and the way he stood there , blocking his exit, made it clear this wasn’t the same Josh they were used to seeing. He was scary.Kathy scoffed, leaning forward with a look of smug amusement. "Oh? Or what?" she challenged, her voice still filled with mockery. "What’s your next move if he doesn’t pick it up?”Josh’s eyes shot to her briefly before he replied simply, “You’ll see.”“Is that a threat?”At that immediate moment, right behind Josh, the principal entered as well. His expression remained unreadable as he scanned the room before his gaze landed on Kathy."Kathy.” He called out to her, and without any hesitation he said, “You're expelled from this university.”Kathy felt the blood drain from her face upon hearing the principal's words. “Excuse me?” Her voice broke as the words sank in. She blinked rapidly, sure she must have misheard him. Expelled?

A murmur of confusion filled the lecture hall upon hearing Josh's bold words. A few students exchanged uncertain glances. It was hard to tell if he was simply putting on an act to show off to Mae, or if he was being serious. They were certain at first that he was putting on an act, however now they weren't any more. No one would be this confident when their future was on the line, especially someone like Josh, who supposedly had everything to lose.“What does that mean?” someone whispered.“Is he still pretending?” another scoffed, though there was a slight hesitation in their voice now. The initial impression that Josh was acting had started to crack, and the possibility that he might actually be serious lingered.Kathy, too, hesitated for a brief moment, her smirk wavering slightly as she considered the possibility that Josh might actually be serious. But she caught herself quickly, rolling her eyes. “Please,” she scoffed. “You’re just embarrassing yourself at this point.”Just t

Kathy's eyes snapped to Josh, her glare sharp as she processed his words. When she threatened to have him kicked out of college, she expected him to be so afraid. After all, Josh valued his education so much and he would do anything to not get kicked out of the only college that accepted him. It was his only escape from the poverty he was trapped in, and he would do whatever it took to stay enrolled. But his response wasn’t what she expected. What did he just say? The audacity of him to speak to her, as if he were her equal? As if he had the right to challenge her?In reality Josh wasn't even close to being her equal, he was nothing but a pauper, and so seeing him try to challenge her, annoyed her.And it wasn’t just her. The entire lecture hall seemed to be stunned into silence.Josh wasn’t known for standing up for himself before. He was supposed to keep his head down, to be grateful for even being here. But now? Now he was looking at her like she was the inferior one.It was immed

Having had enough, Josh was about to react. His fingers formed into fists and clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. His jaw was locked, barely containing the words he wanted to spit back at Kathy and the rest of them. But just as he was about to unleash everything he was holding back, his attention was drawn elsewhere when someone called out to him.“Josh!” a familiar voice echoed from the doorway. Josh’s head snapped toward the sound, his eyes widening as he spotted Mae walking into the lecture hall. He was taken aback. What was she doing here in his class? The whole class turned to see who had interrupted them just as they were about to get what they wanted: Josh's reaction. And to their surprise, it was a pretty girl, around twenty years of age. Mae stood there, her gaze fixed on Josh, a friendly smile lighting up her face as she approached him.The atmosphere in the room shifted. Who was this girl, and how did she know this loser Josh? What surprised them even more was
