Josh thought of ignoring the notification, however since he had nothing better to do for the next hour or so until the boring movie was over, he decided to tune in to the stream. Plus he was also curious to see what she streamed, so he tapped on the stream and started watching. Isabella was enthusiastically playing her game, but seemed to be struggling with a challenging level. He watched for a few minutes, amused by her commentary and the interactions with her viewers.

As he continued watching, Josh couldn’t help but notice how captivating Isabella looked on camera. Her expressive face, combined with the way she animatedly reacted to the game video game she was playing, highlighted her natural beauty. Her enthusiasm and the glow on her face made her appear even more stunning. She wore a casual yet stylish outfit.

Feeling a bit generous and wanting to distract himself from the movie, Josh decided to donate to her stream. He clicked the donation button and entered a substantial amoun

When Josh stepped out of the mansion, he scanned the surroundings, hoping for any sign of the mysterious sender. The night air was cold, and he shivered slightly, regretting that he hadn't thought to wear a jacket. The cold was an afterthought, though, as his mind was consumed by the purpose of his visit. The area around the mansion was eerily quiet. As he looked around he noticed the armed security guards stationed around the perimeter. He approached one of the guards and asked if they had seen anyone unusual or if anyone had been here recently. The guard shook his head, indicating that there had been no unusual activity or visitors.Puzzled, Josh considered that the message might have meant outside the estate, not just outside the mansion. He walked toward the gate, stepping out of the compound and into the street. The area was equally quiet, and there were no signs of anyone waiting for him. The streetlights cast long shadows, but they revealed nothing.Josh sighed, feeling frustra

The next day, when he got up from bed, Josh went to college as usual. After arriving at college he made his way to the library and settled down. He took out his stuff from his backpack as he tried to focus on his studies, but his mind kept drifting back to the events of the previous night. What was the meaning of the photo? Josh was bothered by one persistent question: Who exactly was the man in the photo next to his grandfather? The same individual had approached him at the café just a few days earlier, and throughout their entire conversation, had acted as if he didn’t recognize Josh at all. This pretense only fueled Josh’s growing sense of curiosity and suspicion. Why had the man approached him in the first place? What was the purpose behind the deliberate act of pretending not to know him when it was clear that he did? Moreover, what could be the man’s connection to Giovanni? From the photo, it was clear that there was a connection between the two of them, however he couldn't

"Hey, Josh," Amelia said with a flirtatious smile as she stood across from him. Her tone was light and slightly flirty,"Mind if I join you? It looks like you're having so much fun studying all alone."Josh glanced up, momentarily surprised by her appearance. He was so engrossed in his assignment that he didn't notice someone approaching him. "Sure. Have a seat." He replied.“What are you working on?” She asked, although she could clearly tell what he was doing. However she was just trying to start a conversation with him. Before Josh could respond to Amelia's question, he noticed someone walking into the library. It was Andrea, who walked in with a casual yet impressive presence. She was wearing a fitted, red top that showed off her curves, paired with dark skinny jeans that accentuated her figure. Her outfit was completed by shiny boots and a simple leather belt. Her hair was styled in waves, falling around her shoulders. Although she wasn't dressed in the most expensive outfits com

Around evening, an armored SUV pulled up at the De La Cruz mansion. The doors opened and Josh, Mario, and Antonio emerged from the sleek vehicle. The vehicle's dark tint reflected the fading light of the day. The three of them had just returned from another one of Antonio’s dealings. Antonio had Josh and Mario tag along, as per Giovanni's instructions. Giovanni wanted the two of them to be tagging along so they could learn the ropes, grooming them for future roles within the family. However, Josh didn't like that. He hated having to tag along and he had grown tired of being involved in these drug deals already. His consciousness ate at him and he didn't want to be involved in the dirty dealings. And every time he accompanied Antonio, he was reminded of the risks and the shadowy world he was now involved in. But, despite his growing unease, he didn't have that much of a choice but to participate. The thing that scared him the most was getting in trouble with the law for his involvemen

The way the woman's gaze had lingered on Josh was like she had an interest on him or something. And when she had faced him, he also couldn't help to notice her striking facial features and realized she was quite attractive, with green eyes and pink lips. Despite himself, Josh felt a moment of unexpected attraction towards her. However, he quickly pushed his thoughts aside, trying to concentrate on the conversation between his grandfather and the woman. The woman continued, “He knows too much and refuses to reveal what we need. If we don’t handle him soon, his knowledge could jeopardize the entire operation.”Giovanni’s expression darkened slightly after hearing the woman's report. He nodded in understanding, and then he leaned back in his chair, his hands put together on the desk in thought. “How secure is our leverage with him?” The woman sighed, showing her frustration. “We’ve used all our usual methods, but he’s proving remarkably resilient,” she replied her facial expression unre

Having had enough, josh turned towards Mario with annoyance visible un his eyes, “Can you not smoke in here?” Josh asked, trying to keep his tone calm but unable to hide his irritation. He was annoyed by Mario. The sharp, acrid smoke was stinging his throat and making his eyes almost water.Mario gave Josh a brief, he didn't say anything, before turning his attention back to the window. He stared outside the limousine, his eyes following the fast-moving city lights, which passed in a blur. Seemingly not giving a care in the world, he took another slow drag from his cigarette. It gave him happiness knowing that what he was doing was bothering Josh, hence he wasn't planning to stop. Feeling even more annoyed, Josh’s patience snapped. Without a word, he snatched the cigarette from Mario's hand and tossed it out of the open window. Mario stared at him, surprised, as the cigarette disappeared into the night. He couldn't believe that Josh would dare do that, the audacity he had to snatch

Walking behind Giovanni, Josh entered the venue and took a moment to glance around the room. The lavish decor and the elegant attire of the guests clearly indicated that this was a high-profile event. Everyone was dressed in luxurious suits and gowns, adding to the event's air of sophistication and exclusivity.Josh noticed that paparazzi and media personnel were present at the event, their cameras flashing as they captured the high profile attendees. As they turned their attention to him, Mario, Antonio, and Giovanni, Josh's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly looked away to avoid having his face captured. He felt uneasy at the thought of being photographed and potentially appearing on the front or back page of a newspaper. The idea of his connection to the De La Cruz family being exposed made him nervous, especially since he was concerned about possible repercussions at college.Despite his growing awareness that Giovanni was also known as a respected business tycoon Josh couldn't

Josh responded with a smile. “I didn't expect to run into you either.” He replied, shifting his gaze towards Mr Walton who was standing next to Amelia. Mr. Walton’s eyebrows raised slightly in surprise as he turned sharply to glare at Josh. His expression was a mix of irritation and confusion, clearly displeased by the interruption. Josh's abrupt intrusion into his conversation with Amelia was unexpected, and Walton's dissatisfaction was evident in the way he looked at Josh, scrutinizing and wondering who this newcomer was and why he had chosen to interrupt his and Amelia's conversation.Josh met Mr Walton’s gaze, noticing his visible angry facial expression. However, he brushed it off, assuming Walton’s stern demeanor was simply his usual expression. After all, Josh couldn’t think of a reason why Walton would be specifically upset with him. He didn't do anything to make him upset. Josh decided to introduce himself to Mr Walton, and he was just about to do so, when Amelia took his h

What was even more worrying was that he didn't know what she wanted, or was trying to accomplish by agreeing to this relationship.Coming back to his thoughts, Josh looked towards Antonio, realizing that he was still deep in conversation with Rafael. “Did Giovanni see him?” Rafael asked.“No he didn't, luckily I was there, so I made sure they didn't see each other.” Antonio replied, referring to a few days, when Vincenzo showed up at the event, despite knowing that Giovanni would be there.Rafael gritted his teeth, “Then what the hell was he doing there? Doesn't he know the risks.”Antonio’s expression darkened. “He said he was there for business, but I think he was trying to send a message to Giovanni, that he won't be intimidated by him.”Rafael scoffed. “If Giovanni had seen him, things could have gotten very bad.”Josh couldn't help but listen closely as he heard Rafael and Antonio’s words. They were talking about Vincenzo as if he was some outsider, who was Giovanni's enemy. But

Josh didn't want to take Lilith’s story at face value. That could be a risky move, because she could be lying and twisting the truth to her advantage. He eyed her suspiciously as he asked, “How do you know all this?”Lilith explained. “It’s not a secret. Everyone in the underground world knows. “She revealed, " Don't believe me? Ask anyone, even Sofia.”Josh tightened his grip on the armrest slightly, his eyes filled with irritation. Everyone knows about this? And he had never thought to ask Sofia or Antonio about it.He felt annoyance flare in his chest. It was understandable that he would be annoyed at himself now, because he had just made a deal with Lilith for information he could have gotten on his own.Lilith watched him closely. Although she didn't show it on her face, she was clearly enjoying the realization dawning on his face. She thought of how easy it was. She made an offer, and he agreed without hesitation.Whatever. She was just glad he did. Now, she didn’t have to wor

She did not expect him to ask her such a direct question. But she was ready to answer him. Lilith tilted her head to look at him with a playful look. “Maybe I changed my mind.”“Why did you change your mind?” Josh pressed on.Lilith rolled her eyes before she finally answered him. ”Maybe I realized that fighting this marriage is pointless. Our families will make sure this happens no matter what. And honestly it's not the worst thing that could happen.”Josh studied her, his expression lacking any emotion, unreadable. Unlike her, there was no warmth in his gaze. “That’s not a convincing answer, Lilith.” His voice was dry, but firm. Then, with quiet certainty, he accused, “I know you’re up to something. What is it?”“Hmmm?” Lilith hadn’t expected that. She thought he was clueless, easy to manipulate. But, the fact that he already realized that she was up to something, proved to her, that he was smarter than she gave him credit for.Her smirk returned, lazy and amused. “You’re not an ea

At a police station, inside the chief's office.Three people were in the office, the chief of police and two officers, engaged in discussion. The chief of police sat back in his chair, while Detective Reynolds and Martinez stood across from him.“These are all the findings we have on Giovanni De La Cruz so far,” Detective Reynolds said, sliding a thick file across the table to the chief. The contents on the file were evidence the two detectives had found on Giovanni. According to them, it was enough evidence to cause Giovanni problems.Martinez added. “Sir, we think with this, we can at least get a search warrant against Giovanni.”The chief of police reached for the file, pulling it toward him before flipping it open. His eyes scanned the documents, photos, and reports inside. He picked up one of the photos, a grainy image of Antonio De La Cruz carrying a briefcase while Mario and Josh followed behind him and entered a hotel. Even at a glance, it was clear they were involved in som

Mr Ramirez turned to Mr Delgado saying, “A word with you Mr Delgado?” Mr Delgado gave a nod before walking away with Mr Ramirez, leaving Josh alone. Josh was too preoccupied with his thoughts to fully pay attention to them as they walked away.He moved towards the grand windows, gazing out at the estate. The villa was beautiful, but that wasn’t what occupied his mind. It was what this place meant to him: A piece of his past, one he could barely remember, but was now in his hands. His fingers lightly brushed the nearby table as he walked, trying to find some sort of connection to this place. He closed his eyes, trying to remember some memory that would surface. But there was nothing. Just emptiness. He was too young to remember ever living here, so he couldn't remember everything. But, how could he expect to recall a place he left when he was just a toddler? The sound of footsteps pulled him from his thoughts. He turned to see his grandfather walking back inside with Mr. Delgado.“Ar

Josh pushed the thought aside. He wasn’t ready to deal with that yet. Besides, this was his grandfather he was talking about, so why would Giovanni discard him aside?Mr Ramirez studied him for a second. “I'm sorry for how everyone else treats you. I'm sure they'll come around eventually.” He assured. Josh could only hope that will be the case soon. He let out a short laugh. “Are you sure about that? Catalina looks at me like I don’t belong. Marco and Isabella don’t even bother hiding it. Matteo’s the only one who treats me like an actual person.” It was not his intention to let everything out, however the words slipped out before he could stop them. His grandfather was quiet for a long moment. Then he said, “Catalina loved your mother.”Josh’s expression shifted. Really? He didn't want to believe that. If Catalina and his mother were indeed close, she wouldn't look at her sister’s son like he was the problem.Mr. Ramirez continued, “She loved her deeply. Losing her… broke something

“And when you find him? What happens then?” He asked.Josh watched his grandfather closely, waiting for his answer. Whatever Mr. Ramirez chose to do with Reaper would say a lot about the kind of man he truly was.It was safe to say Josh didn’t know his grandfather that well. He had power, control, and influence, but what kind of person was he underneath it all?“He’ll face justice. What do you think?” Mr Ramirez said. “We’ll hand him over to the authorities.”Josh hadn’t expected to hear that.If this had been Giovanni, Reaper wouldn’t have made it past sunrise. No trial. No mercy. Josh still remembered how effortlessly his other grandfather had executed those two men for betraying him, no hesitation in his actions. This was the difference between Mr. Ramirez and Giovanni. One believed in fairness, the other in ruthless control.Josh was happy to see that his grandfather from his mom's side was a different person from Giovanni.Just then, Catalina walked in, her sharp gaze immediately

Josh ignored Catalina. But he also didn’t bother trying to go with them to see Matteo. Mr. Ramirez shot Catalina a cold look in disapproval. “If it weren’t for Josh, Matteo wouldn’t have made it here in time.” He scolded.Catalina said nothing, but she had a slight look of realization across her face. No matter how she felt about Josh, it was thanks to him and the other two people that Matteo was here at the hospital in time. She, Dean, Marco, and Isabella went inside the ICU where Matteo was.Josh stayed back, leaning against the wall. He didn’t show it, but the rejection bothered him. When Marco and Isabella made it clear they didn’t accept him, it bothered him, but not that much. Catalina, though… She was his deceased mother’s sister. He expected her to treat him with at least some kindness. Guess he was wrong for thinking that.Josh exhaled slowly, pushing the thought aside. He wasn’t about to beg for acceptance. If they didn’t want him around, fine.Without another word, he turn

Mr. Ramirez’s gaze remained cold as he looked at Dante. “Where is this… Reaper?” he asked Dante hesitated, shaking his head in denial. “I… I don’t know, sir.”Mr. Ramirez studied him for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Before he could say anything else, the waiting room doors burst open.Mateo’s parents, Catalina and Dean, rushed inside, their faces filled with worry. Marco followed closely behind them, equally as worried.“Dad, how is my son? Where is Mateo?” Catalina asked, her voice shaking.Josh tensed as he watched them. It was the first time he had ever seen Mateo’s parents in person. Since Matteo was his cousin, then the woman must be his mom's sister, his aunt. Josh also noticed a resemblance between her and him, it was subtle but still noticeable. Mr. Ramirez turned to them. “I have spoken to the doctor. He is stable… we’ll be able to see him soon.”A shaky breath of relief escaped Dean's mouth. “Thank God.”Catalina clutched her husband’s arm, but the worry in
