I lie on the floor, watching Asher walk away. A whimper escapes me as a single tear slides down my cheek. What am I thinking? The look on his face ... something twists painfully inside me, tight and unforgiving. I don't know what happened. He's the one who chased me down in nothing but a towel, the one who insisted on spanking me like some naughty child. And now he's surprised to find out I liked it.

I'm torn between getting up and screaming at him for leaving me like this or finishing the job myself. Shame digs its claws deeper, and I wish I hadn't said those words out loud. I hadn't meant to it just happened.

It was the way he touched me, the way his eyes roamed my body. Every brush of his skin felt like a hundred sparks igniting. The thought of his head between my thighs was too much—too vivid. I hadn't meant to say it. I only meant to think it. But it slipped out.

Now I shudder, the rough fabric of my jumper scraping painfully against sensitive skin. My nipples ache, pressing agai

Training arrives the next day, and to my horror, it’s Asher waiting for me—not Erin. Oh goddess, how am I supposed to get through this after what happened yesterday?“Morning,” he greets, handing me a cup of coffee. I take a sip, my eyes widening slightly at the familiar hint of chocolate. Huh. So he knows how I like my coffee. That doesn’t mean anything. And clearly he is just going to pretend yesterday didn't happen. “Where’s Erin? I thought I was training with her,” I ask, scanning the area, hoping for a flash of red hair in the distance. He studies me carefully before responding. “She’s got other things to handle. I’ll be taking over your training from now on.” His tone leaves no room for argument as he leads me toward the sparring ring. I quickly swipe my phone and send Erin a message. My heart hammers in my chest because after yesterday this is the last thing I want. A heads up would have been nice.I shove the phone back into my pocket before he notices. Stepping into the ri

I spin, heart hammering against my ribs as the growl slices through the trees. Where is it coming from? Shit. I don't even know where I am. The woods press in around me, unfamiliar and vast. My breath comes shallow, and just as I take a step back, a blur of dark brown fur lunges toward me.I scream, the sound tearing from my throat and vanishing into the dense forest. Will anyone hear me? Or is this it?Before I can brace myself, I hit the ground hard, the sting of pine needles pricking my skin. A flash of red fills my vision.“Got you!” Erin’s laughter breaks through, wild and carefree. Her face hovers above mine, strands of her hair catching on my lips. I groan, shoving her off as the stitch in my side twists painfully.“Yeah, you did, you bitch. I can’t even breathe!” I rasp, rolling onto my knees.Erin cackles and holds out a hand, her grin wide and unrepentant. I scowl as I take it, pulling myself up.“You're always naked.” I shake my head at her bare skin, trying to sound exaspe

Erin leaves, and I head to my room to change. I nod to the guards as I pass by, their eyes tracking me with quiet vigilance. The cool metal of the handle chills my palm as I push open the door to my balcony. The ocean stretches endlessly before me, the waves whispering against the rocks below. But the view does little to settle the restlessness curling in my chest. The walls feel too close, the air too thick. I can't stay here, not when the silence presses in like a weight.Asher left me a bank card after our last shopping trip. As his apprentice, I have a line of credit to spend on whatever I need. I sling a bag over my shoulder, my fingers curling around the card as if holding it alone gives me freedom. I step out, eager to lose myself in the town, to rediscover who I am and what still matters to me.The moment I reach the pack center, the hum of life envelops me. “Thank you, ladies, but I should—”“Don’t worry, dear. We meet every Tuesday if you want to join us again,” Tilly offers, and I catch them elbowing each other with knowing glances. Warmth spreads across my cheeks, and I feel the blush rise despite myself.“Thank you. I will,” I reply, placing down the tangled mess of knitting that's no good to anyone. I bid them goodbye and slip away, deciding to follow the path where I saw Asher and the old man disappear. His scent lingers in the air, sharp and distinct, cutting through the others like a beacon. It pulls me forward, as if guiding me with invisible strings.I trail along the riverbank, heart beating a little faster as I spot them ahead. The old man and Asher laugh together, and something inside me softens at the sound. Asher's laugh is deep, unguarded, the kind that makes the corners of his eyes crinkle. I linger, savoring the rare moment, wishing to hear it again. The sun dances over the water as we cross the bridge to the other side

I tilt my chin up and square my shoulders. “I’m not following you,” I say softly, stepping closer. His eyes crinkle at the corners, his smirk deepening as if he knows something I don’t.“Oh?” His voice is low, rich, and it hums in the small space between us as he closes the distance even further. The warmth of his body curls around mine like an invisible embrace, and I bite my lip, something electric unfurling deep inside me. Asher’s gaze flickers, too full of confidence, and I know he’s heard every word Sabrina and I exchanged.“Because it felt a lot like you were following me, love.” His voice drops to a husky murmur. One more step and there’s almost nothing left between us but the air we share.I let my head tilt, hair spilling like silk over my shoulder. A coy smile tugs at my lips as I flutter my lashes. “I really have no idea what you’re talking about.”His smirk softens, melting into something darker, more intimate. He leans down, and his breath ghosts against my ear, a whisper

“When I kiss you, it’s because I know you’re mine.” Asher’s rough, deep voice loops in my head like a song I can’t turn off. We walk through the pack grounds, his easy smile never fading. Every so often, his hand brushes my arm, his fingers lingering longer than necessary. The air between us pulls tight, crackling with something I can’t name, something I’m not sure I want to resist anymore. If Asher can be honest about what he feels, then I'm no longer going to deny mine. It’s easier said than done. Over the next few days, as we train together, his eyes burn hotter. Even in the middle of sparring, I can feel it — he’s undressing me with his gaze. There are moments I catch the way he looks at me, and I know he’s imagining things far from innocent. The worst part? My body betrays me, spiraling under his stare. A single glance from him and my core tightens, my legs trembling as heat pools low in my belly.Sparring like this is torture. The best kind. He hasn’t pushed me to shift again,

As soon as Asher’s fingers brush through my soaked folds, I swear I feel him purr against my back. The sensation has me parting my legs, desperate to give him more access. His fingers delve deeper, and my chest heaves as I struggle to remember how to breathe.“You’re so wet for me, love. Do you enjoy my punishments?” he teases, his breath hot against my ear as he nips at the lobe. I shudder, arching into him.“Yes,” I moan as his fingers slide further. He teases, brushing them back and forth, and for a moment I’m terrified this might be the punishment—this light, maddening touch that feels so good but never quite enough.Relief crashes over me when his fingers find my clit, circling slowly until my legs tremble. My nipples harden painfully against the thin fabric of my sports bra, and I bite my lip to hold back a cry. Asher nibbles at my ear, his fingers relentless, and I swear I’m going to combust.“Asher,” I gasp, his name tumbling from my lips like a prayer. His hand pauses, and whe

"I'm not going to let you kill me," he spat, as I shoved him away with all my might.Amid the chaos, her scent reached me, and my eyes snapped to meet her jewel-blue gaze. She was trying to push through the fray to get to me, her face radiant with a smile that cut through the violence like a beacon. "Leo," her voice seemed to rise above the clamor of battle cries and snarls, but perhaps it was just my imagination. I turned my attention back to Braden, slicing his jaw and neck, blood pouring from the wounds like a crimson river. The urge to obliterate him was strong, but I had made a promise to let Claudia deliver the final blow. Knowing she was here, seemingly unharmed, brought me a sense of relie

The ground vibrates beneath me as the rhythmic stomp of boots closes in. The troops march one by one toward my pack, their movements a relentless drumbeat of impending doom. If I make it out of this, Leo is going to kill me—for real this time—for going off on my own.Lying here in my cell, my body throbs with the pain of my own recklessness. What I thought was an act of bravery now feels like pure stupidity. I should have challenged Braden for the pack the second I was thrown into his tent. That was the plan. But it all went wrong. Horribly wrong.Barking orders ring out from the guards outside, their voices sharp and grating. I try to force through the haze of pain of the heat to reach Leo through the mind link, but it’s useless. I’m too weak. My breath catches as the flap of the tent rustles, signaling someone’s return. My heart pounds harder, slamming against my ribs. I want out of this cage, but I also don’t. The idea of someone finding me like this—vulnerable, helpless—is terrify

"What did you just do?" I ask, my body igniting in seconds, heat flooding every vein. My vision blurs as sweat drips down my back. Braden sways in front of me, something small and glinting in his hand. My body wobbles as he lets me go, and I claw at my hair, fingers fumbling for the vial of liquid silver. I'm thrown onto an old wool rug, the rough fibers scraping against my bare hands. I sneer, because even in the midst of battle, Braden refuses to go without his creature comforts. Though a small part of me is grateful—at least I'm not being smushed into the dirt again.Several pairs of black boots surround me before two gleaming black brogues step into my line of vision. "Baby, is that really you?" His voice carries an almost genuine concern, but I know better. I adjust my position, craning my neck to look up at him. Those dark blue eyes are as cold as ever. But everything else is different. He’s massive, his muscles stretched tight over his frame as if he’s been pumping himself full of steroids. I make it to the top of the cliffside, my heart pounding like a war drum as the sun scorches my back. The air hangs heavy, thick with the kind of stillness that only comes before battle—that electric pause before chaos erupts. Even the birds have fallen silent.I tread carefully along the ridge, peering over the other side where their camp sprawls below. From here, I'm just far enough beyond our borders that no guards should detect me. I suppress my aura, unwilling to risk Braden sensing my presence. Lowering myself into a crouch, I inch forward until I can lie flat behind a boulder, my breath shallow, controlled. The camp is a storm of movement, warriors swarming in organized precision. Hundreds, maybe even thousands. It’s as if the entire New Moon Pack has assembled for this. My stomach tightens as I spot Uncle Leon moving through the front line, barking orders. So this is how the rogues are involved. Disappointment stabs through me. One of my father’s most trusted allies, now worki

I wake up tangled in a mess of limbs on the floor, the fire now reduced to glowing embers, and a pleasant ache thrumming between my thighs. Leo lies beside me, his soft snores blending with the distant chirping of birds, signaling the break of dawn. Carefully, I peel myself away from where our bodies are molded together. I can’t wake him. Every movement is slow, calculated, as I inch my way free.Once I’m loose, I jump up, the dim morning light seeping through the curtains now that the candles have long since melted into pools of wax on the floor.
