KLAY ROSE

“Klay, you didn’t tell me that you’ll be bringing a friend tonight.” Sister Mary eyed me, looking at Rozen from head to toe. “I wasn’t also aware that you are friends with Mr. Rozen Vermouth.”

“Sister, he’s not my friend.” I clarified looking at Rozen who followed me all the way to the convent. “He followed me because he was hungry so I brought him here because I am a good samaritan.”

“Good evening, Sisters.” He greeted them, half-smiling. “I am sorry to bother you, but can I stay for the night?”

I coughed, looking at him in disbelief. “That is not what we talked about. You said you are just hungry.”

He shrugged. “There’s no train going back to the New Town, and I cannot seem to find any place to stay for the night except the convent so—”

“Where is your friend? Why not stay there?” I raised my brow. “You don’t have a friend here, right?” I am certain that he lied about it.

“You are my friend.” He simply said.

I was about to argue when Sister Mary butt in. “We can let you stay at night but we don’t have a room available, so you can stay in the living room if it’s okay.”

“Sister!” I protested. “We don’t even know his motive for—”

“He is the son of the mayor of our town, so it wouldn’t be good for us to turn him down, don’t you think Mr, Rozen?” Sister Rizza said to me. “Aside from that, the night is long and there are unknown creatures out there.”

“The storm will also come tonight,” Sister Mary said. “You can bring your friend in the dining hall for the both of you to eat. The kids are already sleeping and we still have to check them and make sure everything is okay.”

“Thank you! I will surely let my father know about your good deeds.” He smiled. “Perhaps, he can send something for the kids.”

“We certainly don’t do anything in return for people we help, but blessings are always welcome to come our way.” Sister Mary said, turning to me and motioning me to the dining hall.

I deeply sighed. There’s no choice right now. I walked towards the dining hall and he followed me quietly. I started to hear the drops of rain from the roof. Slowly, and the wind brushing trees outside.

“Why are you here in our town?” I said it directly. “Why did you lie about having a friend from here?”

“I did not lie about it. I am indeed visiting a friend here or maybe it wasn’t a friend but an enemy of my friend.” He seriously looked at me. “It would be better if you don’t know about it for now. There’s a right time for everything.”

I scoffed, crossing my arms. “Be sure to come home first thing in the morning tomorrow.”

He didn’t say a thing while I prepared for our dinner. The rain started pouring as we started eating. We were quiet the whole time. I noticed that Rozen was focusing on something that I know. He seemed to be bothered by something as he moved his eyes around the house.

He didn’t leave my side until I finished washing the dishes and even followed me upstairs where my room is located. I couldn’t handle his presence anymore so I questioned him.

“Why are you following me? Your place is in the living room.”

“I just wanted to make sure you are safe.”

I raised my brow. “Why can I not be safe in the convent? If I remember, you are a stranger so if something happens to us then you’ll surely be the one to blame.” I warned him. “Don’t do anything.”

“Believe me, I am saving you.” He whispered.

“Huh?” I said, not hearing those words clearly.

“Nothing.” He shook his head and smiled at me. “Good night, Klay. I am just outside if you need anything.”

He’s weird. I stopped minding him and went inside my room. That’s the only time I was able to breathe freely as his presence next to me is driving me insane. I thought I already got over my crush for him yet it seems like I am still attracted to him. He certainly never failed to catch my attention without even doing a thing.

I finally managed to stop my heart from beating so fast. I hope he didn’t hear it as I tried to hide it by being grumpy in front of him.

After finishing my night routine, I went to my study table and started finishing my projects. I pulled my curtain, covering the glass window as the rain heavily poured.

“Oh, shit.” I cursed, covering my ears when the thunder and lightning started to join forces. The light was turned off so I quickly looked for flashlights. Just then, I heard screaming from the hallway and the kids footsteps, perhaps crying.

“Kids, calm down.” I told them as I rushed into them, running in the dark. Sister Mary and Sister Rizza arrived, calming all the children.

“Gather in the main hall!” Sister Mary said holding the lamp. “Fall in line and hold each other’s hand. We are in your back. You don’t have to worry!”

“I’ll gather more candles and flashlights,” I told them as I went to the storage room.

I heard the scream of the children each time the thunder and lightning roared from above. I breathe slowly, trying not to listen to the sounds as it’s giving me unstable breathing. Somehow, the darkness crept into me as I walked alone. I rushed towards the storage room and searched for the lamp and lights. I was already shaking as I grabbed the things so I dropped the flashlights.

I held my hand and inhaled deeply. I wasn’t sure why there’s some rats in my chest right now

I quickly went out of the storage room and ran towards the main hall. I am certain that a pair of eyes were following me right now so I tried to increase my pace.

“Klay, have you seen George?” Sister Rizza rushed into me upon arriving at the main hall. “Are you with him?”

“No.” I shook my head, looking around the kids gathered in the hall. They had blankets covering their bodies. “He is not here? Steven, where is George? He is your roommate.”

He bowed his head.

“He’s missing,” Sister Mary said.

“We need to find him now.” I rushed to the door.

“There’s one more thing…” Sister Rizza seriously said. “Mr. Rozen isn’t here, either.”

KLAY ROSE“George?” I shouted. “George, where are you?” My voice is racing with the loud noise around the convent. The storm hadn’t stopped for almost an hour. The thunder and lightning kept on battling up in the sky.“George, are you hiding? Come on, Sister Klay is here. Don’t be afraid.” I continued saying while passing in the hallway.I checked every room on the second floor but he wasn’t there. I also went to the dining area, the living room, the prayer room, storage room, music room, and every corner of our house yet there was no sight of George nor Rozen. It crept me out. What if Rozen abducted George? It is not impossible but thinking of a motive, why would he do that? He’s just a kid.“Rozen?” I tried calling his name but there was no reply. “Rozen, are you there?”There was no response until I reached the end of the hallway. I need to retrace my steps again, yet there’s still no shadow of George nor Rozen. I was already on my way to the main hall when I passed by the veranda.

KLAY ROSE"No...don't..." I hugged myself as I crawled backward. "Don't come near me..." I couldn't hear my own voice as I begged Klaus not to come near me. "No, don't..." I started crying in fear. A lot of things are running inside my mind right now thinking of George and the things that might happen to me right now. "You are a werewolf..." I muttered, gulping the lump in my throat. I felt the trunk of the tree at my back and my hands were already shaking, my whole body was wet from the cold and everything was so numb. My heart was beating so fast but this time it wasn't because I like him, but because I am terrified. "Stay...away..." I closed my eyes. "What did you do to George? Did you kill him?" My heart was bursting into pain, imagining the things that might happen to George out in the woods. "Calm down. I am not going to hurt you, Klay." He said, trying to hold me. "Trust me. I was looking for George!" "No! How could I trust you when you turn into a wild beast?" I yelled,

KLAY ROSE"You are my mate."Rozen looked at me, waiting for me to say something. Perhaps, he is expecting that I would rejoice by the fact that I am sent by the moon goddess to be the only woman he would love for the rest of his life."Wow." I blinked. "If this is another situation, I would probably be the luckiest woman on earth, but Rozen, you are terrifying me!" I felt goosebumps all over my body.Yes, I like him. But, I like the human Rozen. How am I supposed to deal with a lycan Rozen? I didn't even know werewolves were real. They were supposed to be legends. "Are you telling me that I am your mate? How am I supposed to believe that when I am a human being. The last time I checked, I don't change into a wolf form during the full moon and don't have heightened senses like yours." I sighed, looking frustrated. "Can you just tell the moon goddess to cut our ties or perhaps you should reject me so we never have to be mates.""It seems like you know a lot of things about werewolves.

KLAY ROSE"If you want to get revenge, we can help you with that."Rozen interrupted our talk as he appeared from behind. There were men standing behind him that I didn't recognize."I know you have so many questions and we will clarify that, just please stay." Rozen begged like his life was on the line.It would be such a sweet phrase to me, only that I don't know what to do anymore, including to stay away from him or not."The only question I have right now is where is George," I clarified to him. He's still a stranger to me even though my heart continued to race for him. "Unless you got me him, there's no talking.""Klay, that's rude." Sister Mary warned me. "Rozen saved our lives.""Sister, we are not sure of it. George's missing. And, what if staying here will make them go missing one by one." I said, trying to control my emotions."Aren't you just putting them in danger?" Rozen said again.I did not answer him. "Sister, do you know another convent where we can stay?"Sister Riz

KLAY ROSE"What happened to George, Sister Klay?" Rose, one of the kids, asked me as we headed to the convent. It's almost a 7-hour drive through the bus to get there. We are expected to arrive there in the evening. Thankfully, they still have rooms for a few children so they accepted us.Inside the bus, the kids are already comfortable with their seats, except for Missy who's still sleeping. I hope she will forget about it when she wakes up."George is okay." I lied. "We will be seeing him in the new convent." I hugged her and caressed her arms. "You don't need to worry about him.""Well, are you sure about it? Isn't he dead?" Rose blinked her eyes, looking seriously at me."Of course not. Where did you know that?" I looked at her, assuring her. "He's not yet dead, okay? We are going to see him."She smiled at me, not believing in me. Well, even I couldn’t believe my words now."Why did the convent burn? Is that because of our sin? Does God not love us anymore?" Rose pouted, and tear

KLAY ROSE"Sister, what is happening?"The kids started to panic as they saw the church burning before our eyes. There's a lot of police and ambulances ahead of us. People are also outside, looking, and perhaps trying to investigate what had happened."Kids, calm down." Sister Rizza ordered the kids to gather at the back of the bus and pulled the curtain so as not to see what's outside."Are we going to die?" Rose asked, then Miss started crying."It's them! They are following us!" Miss was shouting."No, of course not, kids." I said, putting a blanket on each of them. "I'll go check it and you stay here, okay?""No! Don't go down!" Missy stopped me. "They are here." She looked around, covering her face and ears like she could hear something we don't.It gave me goosebumps but I need to be strong."Missy, nothing will happen, okay? Sister will just check the scene and make sure the kids are okay? Then, you can play with them.""Sister, they're coming." She said again, panicking.Siste

KLAY ROSE"Rozen..." I whispered. "Can you hear me? Please...help us. Save us."I kept on whispering those words hoping he could come. Yet I need to take action now or we will all die. My hands were trembling as I picked up my bow and arrow."Sister Rizza, drive fast and don't ever stop!" I told her as I stood up waiting for that thing on top of us to show its face."It's getting heavy!" Sister Rizza said while she continued driving. The roads were getting dark, too, like it wasn't the path we took a while ago."Oh, shit!" I cursed under my breath when claws started to scratch the roof of the bus. I pointed my arrow up waiting for it. Until it got quiet...slowly...and then glass shattered."Sister! The kids!" I said as I started shooting the wolf attached to the bus as we moved. "Get out of this! What do you want?" I shouted."We want you!" The human-like wolf said in a distinct voice. "Come with us or you will die." It's not one, but two...or more than that.Fuck! I closed my eyes.

KLAY ROSE"What did I miss?"I approached Micah as soon as I saw her walking to the main gate. I looked down, but it was too late as a lot of students already saw me."No, what did I miss?" She repeated the questions. "What happened to you? You were gone for a week. And, what about the kids?" She continued asking, almost panicking. "We thought you were all dead after that incident. You weren't answering your phone!""Calm down, Micah." I held her. "You are getting too much attention, okay? I'm sorry. A lot of things happened and I lost my phone so..." I sighed. "It's hard to explain.""What do you mean it's hard to explain? You will just tell me what happened? Who is the suspect? Why did it burn? Is it true that it's an accident or is it about the wild creatures?"I raised my brow upon hearing that. "What do you mean about the wild creatures?""Well, you know about the missing kids and teenages in the other town? My father told me that they appeared out of nowhere.""And?" I moved my

As I looked around, I realized that I was in a dimly lit room with only one small window that allowed a faint light to seep in.Suddenly, the door creaked open and my father walked in, his eyes filled with anger and disappointment. I knew why he was here. He didn't want me to save Klay, the one person I loved more than anything in the world."Father, please let me go. I need to save her," I pleaded with him.He just shook his head, "No, Rozen. You're too important to the pack. We can't risk losing you over a human."I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My father, the one who taught me to be kind and compassionate, was willing to let Klay die just to protect the pack's interests."You don't understand, Father. Klay is different. She's not like other humans. She's my mate," I said, trying to make him understand the depth of my feelings for her.My father's expression so

I looked around the dimly lit room and took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down.I got up from the bed and walked towards the window. The moon was shining bright, and the stars were twinkling in the sky. It was a beautiful night, and I felt a sense of peace wash over me. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. But as I opened my eyes, reality hit me like a ton of bricks. I was still a prisoner, and there was no one to rescue me. I sighed heavily and walked back to the bed, feeling defeated.Trevor entered the room with a tray of food. "Good morning, Klay," he said with a smirk.I glared at him. "What do you want from me, Trevor?" I asked, my voice laced with anger."I want you to accept my offer, Klay," he said, placing the tray on the table."I will never accept your offer," I said firmly.Trevor shrugged. "Suit yourself. Could it be someone coming to save me? Or was it just Trevor coming to taunt me again? The door creaked open, and my heart sank as Trevor walked in with a smug grin on his face. It was going to be a small wedding, just close friends and family, but we still wanted it to be perfect.Micah was in charge of the decorations and she did an amazing job. The beachfront was adorned with beautiful flowers and ribbons, giving it a dreamy and romantic ambiance. The kids, on the other hand, helped us with the food and the cake. It was a lot of work, but we all had fun doing it together. As I was getting ready, I couldn't help but feel nervous. I couldn't resist but to smile and get ready for whatever surprise he had planned for me.I dressed up in my favorite black dress, and Rozen picked me up at our doorstep. He blindfolded me and took me to an unknown location. I could hear the sound of waves and the breeze of the ocean. He guided me to a spot, and when he removed the blindfold, I saw a table set up on the sand, with candles lit up around it. It was like a scene from a romantic movie.I sat down and looked at him, amazed by the effort he put into this surprise. He had cooked all my favorite dishes, and the aroma of the food filled my nose. As we were enjoying our meal, he started playing a guitar and sang a song that he had written for me. The atmosphere in the room was tense and quiet, neither of us wanting to break the silence.I turned to look at Rozen and saw that he was deep in thought, his brows furrowed.
