Chapter 53 - Cold Turkey

Pierce POV

Her temperature keeps spiking, her body burning off the reminders of the drug within her system…years of the poison having coursed through her veins. Now fighting against her wolf, trying to take back control.

When I think I have tackled her fever with a cold damp washcloth, it peaks again…the sweat pouring off her has soaked through to the bedsheets. Scrambled, incoherent words escape her lips before nightmares return to her, her hands clawing at the wet bed sheets as I repeatedly try to calm her whilst she remains unconscious, giving soothing words into her ear.

I haven’t left her side for 36 hours, my own body was ravenous yet I didn’t dare leave her and I didn’t want any house staff seeing their luna like this. She will come out the other side, but she has had to suffer and at least I can make sure she does it in private. Yet not alone, never alone.
