516 – Pride but not arrogant

Jai walked the post’s hallway with Shoru and the winged monkey. He immediately went to the sleeping quarters when the soldiers told him that his Shoru was hiding there. He knew she must be uncomfortable with so many unknown people around. And he was glad that she was finally around him again.

He reached up with his left hand and rubbed her head softly with his index finger. She let him and even licked his finger adoringly.

She didn’t seem to be bothered by the winged monkey on his right shoulder, as did him. He let the monkey fly to him to see whether it was a violent creature, but it turned out that the monkey was not harmful. It was friendly. It perched on Jai’s shoulder and did not attack him. Not even a scratch.

Jai looked up at the interesting creature, swiping his eyes on its winged shoulder. The monkey saw him faced its direction and looked at him, finding him looking at something behind it. The monkey turned around but did not see anyone. Then it heard the human laughed.
