ELENA's POV

The disappearance of Thomas and his sons remained a mystery to me because Oswin refused to tell me anything. No matter how hard I tried to grill him for information, he remained tight-lipped like his lips were permanently glued shut—though not literally, of course.

Still, regardless of how much he tried to hide, I couldn't shake off the feeling that this mysterious disappearance was his doing.

I tried asking him again and again, but he was so adamant about keeping it from me. Knowing it was useless no matter what, I decided to drop the subject. After all, things should be okay since the trio's faces weren't on TV, especially on news channels that murder cases. That meant that they were still alive. That was all that mattered. That was all I hoped to know.
