Chapter 7

Xavier's Pov

"Alpha Max is a werewolf. Then how did he have a human daughter?" I questioned. Since she-wolf had vanished a century ago, I automatically assumed the daughter was human. It was a mystery to me how a werewolf could have a human child, that too a girl.

At that question, Mom paled. "Luna was adopted" She answered me without meeting my eyes.

"How is Luke related to Alpha Max?" I fired another question at her.

"Luke is his son." her answer sounded more like a question. I didn't believe her but before I could ask her another question, she hurriedly wished me good night and literally, kicked me out of the room. Sighing I turned to my room. While I was trying to open my room's door, I heard some shouting coming from the next door, which was Luke's room. Luke was yelling at someone.

"I'm not going to school. There would be a lot of male wolves. What if something happens to me?" I heard Luke's speak impulsively.

"Xavier will be there to protect you." My father's voice fell on my ears.

"Why can't I be homeschooled like before?"

'Maybe because of his phobia, Luke was homeschooled.' I was snapped out of my thought by my father's voice.

"You need to socialize. That's why" Dad spoke in his alpha voice leaving no room for further discussion. Then I heard the creek sound of the doorknob being twisted. I didn't want to be caught eves dropping, so I quickly went straight to my room and jumped on the bed.

The Royal Pack was the biggest werewolf pack that had at least 10 thousand members. Out of them, one thousand people like warriors, officials, and high ranking werewolf, lived in this Royal Palace. I was having breakfast in the pack dining hall with Cole and Coden. There were at least a thousand people having breakfast around the room. That was the reason why Luke didn't come down to eat breakfast with us.

"So, where did you go panicking in the middle of the conversation yesterday?" Coden asked me.

"Nowhere" I replied while eating my pancakes.

"I don't like the new guy that came with you yesterday" Cole stated while stabbing the pancake. Oh, poor pancakes!

"You mean Luke but why?" I asked. I didn't like the idea of Cole hating Luke at all.

"Because of him, I had to move on the 3rd floor and my room is right next to Killian. He was making fun of me." Cole said huffing. Killian was my Mom's distant relative. He was an arrogant and rude bad boy. He was also a popular playboy of our school. He treated human girls like a tissue, use and throw. Everyone absolutely detested him and so did I.

"Be kind to Luke otherwise I'll beat you all," I warned both of them. They visibly gulped making me grin. Best friend or not, they did fear me because I was the most powerful werewolf alive, although I hadn't shifted yet.

"Let's go to school, we'll get late," Coden said watching his watch. After that, we all headed outside to our bike.

Luna's Pov

"Lu, go sit on the bike with Xavier" Queen Luna Cara said to me. She has started calling me Lu because she thought it was a cute nickname while I thought it was childish. I turned toward Xavier, he was looking handsome as always. I dreaded to sit on his bike with him but I had no option, so I slowly walked to him and climbed on the bike while supporting myself with his body.

"Hold me tight if you don't want to fall," Xavier said while speeding away. I didn't do as he said so I nearly fell when he suddenly pulled a break.

"Now" Xavier hissed. I realized he was angry so I instantly wrapped my hands around his torso not wanting to actually fall off the bike. He drove off and stopped only when we reached the school.

I got off the bike abruptly and started inspecting my surrounding. There was a board with 'Green High' written on it. This was my first time being at school and also around so many people.

"Come," Xavier said sounding grumpy. I wonder what has gotten in his pants today. Usually, he was sweet to me but today he hasn't talked nicely to me at all. I silently followed him while lowering my head because all students were staring at us, or should I say him. I tried to hide my self behind him as much as possible whenever I passed werewolf. Meanwhile, all werewolf would bow their head at Xavier and try to sniff my scent. I had masked my scent so I didn't mind it.

As we went near lockers, I saw two boys, who I assumed to be Xavier's friend, waiting there for us.

"Cole, did you bring his schedule and other things?" Xavier asked the blond guy. He nodded and handed me a paper bag. I took it and mumbled a thank you. I hurriedly took out my class schedule to check it when Coden spoke stopping me.

"I already checked your schedule. You have all the class same with Xavier-" I sighed in relief. "-except Gym" Then I panicked. Yesterday, Mr King had assured me Xavier will be in my every class but it wasn't the case. I shivered at how much danger it could be. The high school was a new place for me. There were hundreds of teenage werewolf here. If someone finds out that I am a werewolf girl, the only one in existence, then I don't know what will happen. Their wolf would go crazy to claim me, make me theirs and to put their offspring in me. I knew they would force me. That's exactly why I needed protection. That's exactly why I needed Xavier.

Suddenly I jerked when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I stepped back when I realized that hand belonged to Cole.

He retracted his hand and said, "I was asking if you want to me to escort you to class."

I looked around me to find Xavier but he wasn't there. Fear gripped my heart. He was supposed to protect me and yet he left me alone. Where did he go?

"There," Cole must have understood that I was looking for Xavier because he pointed me towards him. I followed his finger and saw him talking with a girl and a boy. Without thinking anything I walked toward Xavier then I stopped when I saw him holding that girl's hand, pulling her toward him. At first, I did assume him to be gay but after the phone call he received in the car, I figure out he was straight. And the scene in front of me only confirmed it. He gave her a quick kiss at the forehead and she went with her friends.

Jealousy consumed me. I felt hurt, he was supposed to marry me. I was his fiancé, the ring in my finger hidden under bandage was the proof of it. But I couldn't blame him, after all, we weren't marrying out of love. Again I began walking toward him and stopped immediately when I heard him threatening the boy in front of him.

"Stay away from Sarah, Killian. It's a warning" Xavier said. I assume Sarah to be the girl who he was getting all lovey-dovey with.

"Why?" Killian asked.

"Sarah is mine." My eyes grew wide at Xavier response. 'So he was in love with her' I thought. It wasn't news to me as I had already thought them to be together seeing the way he acted earlier.

"What about your fiancée?" Killian asked with a smirk. I wanted to hear Xavier response so I waited for him to speak. He was silent for a minute then he copied Killium's smirk and said loudly.

"You can keep my fiancée. Do whatever you want to do with her. She is no one to me"

What a jerk.

My heart was fine. It was my hope that shattered at Xavier response. I felt betrayed and conned. Rage was blinding my eye. My heart was turning black with the hate I harboured for this man, whom I was going to marry in 6 days. All these emotions were coming out in the form of tears and I sobbed hard. I saw Xavier turned around and froze in his place.
