“I must be stronger, I must revolt and revenge” I say silently after going back into my room from eavesdropping on Lucien and the commander from earlier.

As I remain curled up in the corner of my room, the sound of approaching footsteps catches my attention. Most of the maids walk with a lethargic gait, but I can always distinguish Lucien’s distinct presence. A surge of bitterness courses through me as I grit my teeth, harboring a deep-rooted hatred for him.

The door swings open with force, and I can feel his penetrating gaze fixated on me as he discovers my hiding spot just behind the closet door. It’s no surprise that he finds me so easily; the room’s lighting is intentionally bright, leaving no shadowy corners for me to conceal myself. A cold smirk adorns his lips as he waves dismissively before making his way to sit by the grand piano. His eyes briefly meet mine, filled with a chilling intensity that sends shivers down my spine.
