CHAPTER FOURTEEN

2021-12-06 22:33:40Maddie quickly sat, gasping for air. She held her neck and continued breathing fast. Her throat feels dry and hoarse although she felt like she drank gallons of water already. The fear inside her is so intense that she just wanted to cry. Maddie looked around with her heart pounding hard against her chest as if it wanted to break it. Her brows met when she saw a familiar room.
"What the..." she was unable to finish her statement as she was dumbfounded. Maddie quickly got out of bed and as soon her feet touched the cold floor, she knew that she was not dreaming, that she was in her old room.
Maddie ran towards the window and looked out. She covered her mouth when she gasped loudly.
"How am I here? Am I dead?" Maddie touched her face then her body.

Maddie sighed and continued pacing in her room. Eliza already left after helping her get ready and she was supposed to follow her but she doesn’t have the energy to do so. After a long deliberation, Maddie sat and groaned in frustration. She covered her face with her palms and groaned again but the heavy weight in her chest is still present.“Why do I feel like this?” She stood and looked outside. She can see a few people hanging out by the lake.Two days ago, she was fine and the presence of Theo did not bother her but after that night, she knew that something had changed between them. It was not her intention but her feelings just came rushing out of her and Maddie knew that it made Theo’s hopes up, especially since he's been vocal with his feelings for her.

Flora couldn’t hide her smile while treating Maddie’s wrist. She couldn’t believe that she had finally met the woman who owns the heart of the great Theo. Maddie tossed and turned but she couldn’t escape her thoughts. In the end, she chose to go out on the balcony to get some fresh air. She hugged herself as it is now twice as cold since it is late at night. Maddie sighed before looking up. For a second, she was mesmerised by the beauty of the moons which had become one. The one behind contrasts the one in front with its vibrant red color which gives it a fine outline. Flora clasped her hands when Maddie faced her.“As expected, you suit the dress.” Flora said while gently dusting off the skirt of the dress.Maddie’s face burned and all she managed to give as a response was a shy smile. Eliza helped her remove the simple cream floral dress that Flora designed herself. She immediately went to her, bringing the dress that will be her wedding gown, as soon as she heard the news that Maddie and Theo are getting married in two days time. Maddie missed again and slashed the curtain. Despite the confusion, Theo was still quick in dodging Maddie’s attempt to kill him. He stood on the other side of the room, naked and bewildered about what was happening. “Put the dagger down, Maddie. Let us talk this through.” Theo said calmly but Maddie is nowhere near calm. Maddie kept looking at herself in the mirror. She feels nauseous just by merely thinking about what's going to happen in a few while. She took a deep breath while shaking her hands as they kept on shaking. Maddie's nervous, super nervous that she thinks she wilo faint any moment now. She and Theo will share their first night together and it is her first time. She's afraid of what she's going to do and feel.
