Third Person’s Point of View

The next day, Akiro found himself alone in his and Heli’s room. He didn’t mind; he was used to waking up alone for the most part. His mate is a prince, so Heli still has responsibilities beyond courting him. Heli’s world doesn’t revolve solely around him, anyway.

He decided to roam outside the palace, not having the chance to look at the garden. He skipped breakfast since he didn’t have the appetite to eat just yet. He feels like he’ll just throw up if he tries to eat.

What he heard from the Luna yesterday still makes him feel sick and nauseous whenever he remembers it. He’s so mad on behalf of Alliah, knowing how cruel and heartless her own mother is to her.

Akiro never got the chance to meet his own parents, but he couldn’t fathom the thought that they’d be as cruel as Mirien. With how highly his own grandparents talked about them, as well as their neighbors who had met his parents, it was so farfetched. They can never be compared to someone as vile as M

Third Person’s Point of View“Why do you smell so... different?”Akiro stared unblinkingly at his mate, whose brows were furrowed in confusion while hugging Terrence from the back. Heli pulled away, spinning Terrence around to face him. He failed to notice that someone else was there with them, and that someone was none other than his mate. The moment Heli saw Akiro’s eyes, he recoiled, pushing Terrence away as he took a few steps back. He glared viciously at the shapeshifter. “Where the fuck is my mate? And why the fuck do you look like him!?”Akiro stepped sideways since Terrence had blocked him from Heli’s line of sight. He lazily waved his hand with a deadpan look. “I’m here.”Heli’s eyes went past Terrence’s shoulders and his eyes widened comically as he saw the true Akiro standing a few steps behind the fake-Akiro he hugged just a while ago.“What the fuck,” Heli muttered, then he pushed past fake-Akiro to approach true-Akiro. “Who’s that motherfucking shapeshifter imitating yo

Third Person’s Point of View“Where the fuck is that bastard?” Heli mumbled as he walked down the hall, opposite to where Hale was staying with Carmela.Akiro struggled to follow his mate, who was walking twice the usual speed he does. Knight was walking beside him, looking at ease as if they were just walking at a normal speed. But Akiro thinks it might be for those who have enhanced strength and endurance than humans. “Maybe he’s with your other siblings? Or talking with other kingdoms?” Akiro responded, a little out of breath.“That prick sucks at socializing despite being trained to be great at it, and he doesn’t like talking to others if it’s not an official meeting,” Heli refuted, brows furrowed deeply in concentration. “But where else is he?”“Can’t you hear him? Or smell?” Akiro asked.“This place smells so much of mutts that I can’t smell any of their scents,” Heli responded, unconsciously scrunching his nose. “And there are so many people here that the sounds just mixed wit

Third Person’s Point of View “What’s the matter, Helios? Why are you looking for me?” Hale asked once we were gathered back in the room with Heli and Knight. “She sent someone back home to check if her daughter was there,” Heli replied immediately, eyes turned from relief at seeing Akiro safe and sound to serious now that there was some business to do. “I need you to transport me back to the palace. I’ll just tell the muttguards so they are informed. I need to tell them where to move her in case whoever that motherfucker had sent snuck inside and looked around.” “How did she know your friend was there?” Hale asked, brows furrowed. “Did someone snitch?” Heli, Knight and Akiro exchanged confused and surprised glances, not expecting to hear that from Hale. “No. No one snitched. The motherfucker doesn’t know she’s there; she just sent someone to check both allied kingdoms. It seemed we just underestimated her intelligence when we thought of bringing her daughter to our home,” Hel

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 98: Misunderstanding

Third Person’s Point of ViewAkiro felt like his breath had been stolen out of his chest upon hearing what his mate just so bluntly confessed to him, as if he had just revealed something so trivial to Akiro. He felt his eyes heating up, tears gathering at the edge. He swallowed thickly, his chest constricting from how tight it felt.He really should’ve gone with them when they returned to the kingdom. Maybe he could’ve stopped his mate from doing what he just did. He knew Heli would never deliberately cheat on him. Akiro is many things, but he wasn’t stupid. He knew Heli’s feelings for him were genuine, and his words that he wouldn’t ever cheat on Akiro were true.Maybe the pheromones of an Omega in heat were truly delectable? Irresistible? Whatever it was, it must’ve been too strong for even a vampire to be so tempted by it. Akiro wanted to smack himself for even defending his mate. His mate cheated on him! Why is he justifying his mate? He doesn’t deserve it! Whether intentional or

Third Person’s Point of View“It would’ve been a whole lot better if Alliah had been a Beta. At least, she wouldn’t have to hide like this from her own mother,” Savannah muttered darkly as she played with her twin brother’s hair.“I don’t think she'd be in a better position if she was a Beta,” Wayde disagreed. “Don’t you think Luna Mirien would dispose of her if she was? Because I think she would do that.”“I agree. Luna Mirien doesn’t like Beta any better because it will take her a long time to become fertile, and even then, Betas has a low percentage of having an Alpha off-spring,” Pierce said. “And she might get rid of Alliah by staging it as an accident.”Savannah couldn’t agree more. That was so like their Luna. She shivered at the thought. “I guess you’re right...”“Ah, man. Fuck that woman, really. She’s such a pain in the ass,” Wayde groaned. “She must’ve sold her conscience long ago for her to do this to her own daughter. She might have even sold her heart! What parent asked

Third Person’s Point of ViewAkiro thought the meeting was a one-time thing only because Heli didn’t correct him when he said the meeting was done. He only found out that they held two meetings for the monthly meeting three days after the first. The first meeting consisted only of sharing news, scopes and issues they had in their respective kingdoms. The second meeting is for sharing ideas and resolutions, as well as future plans for the alliance and individual kingdoms. They even shared gossip with each other, which surprised Akiro. All in all, the meeting was exciting for Akiro, but it eventually turned boring because he couldn’t understand some of what they were talking about. He decided to ask Heli about it later. Instead, he just observed the people present. His eyes traveled towards the Luna, who was just silently listening all throughout the meeting. She only spoke when sharing news and ideas, and when asked by someone. She never joined the laughter and gossip. No one from the

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 101: Overheard

Third Person’s Point of View She’s starting to get really, really mad. And an angry Mirien is not something her loyal followers wanted to face. Mirien had always been apathetic and cruel, but if she was mad? She gets downright brutal and ruthless. No one wants to face that kind of attitude lest it cost them their lives. And Mirien is not above doing it if it quells some of her anger. None of her servants had seen where her wayward daughter was hiding. The ones she sent to their allied kingdoms returned with no good news. Those servants end up returning to their respective homes with broken bones and scratched marks all over their face. It’s been five days since Alliah disappeared. It means her heat is nearing its end, and her chance of getting pregnant is getting lower. Mirien can’t wait for another month— Antonius is already asking around for volunteers! Mirien was getting anxious as days passed by, and she kept on lashing out to her servants to get rid of some of the bottle

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 102: Pay

Third Person’s Point of View“Do you admit defeat?”Heli scoffed, glaring at the man pinning him down. “In your fucking dreams, bastard,” he said. He stretched his fingers that were held firmly by Knight’s hand. He lets the tip of his pointing finger reach the werewolf’s hand and freezes the man’s hand. Knight growled in surprise, loosening his hold on Heli just the slightest, but enough for Heli to pull his hand away and blast Knight away from him.“Damn, man. Your ice is really powerful,” Knight said with a wince while holding the hand that Heli freezes, now iceless but patched with redness. “Even just the tip of a finger is enough to freeze a hand?”“I normally can’t do that,” Heli responded as he stood up.“His willpower and stubbornness just drives him miles away. That’s what keeps him going,” Hadrien exclaimed from the side. The others laughed, making Heli scowl at them as he flipped off his brother. It just made his siblings laugh even louder. “Fuck you, assholes,” he hissed,

Third Person’s Point of View“Take care of your mate, alright? Don’t let him go anywhere alone,” Queen Camilla reminded his youngest son, who huffed indignantly at being reminded of taking care of his mate.“Of course, Mother. You don’t need to remind me,” Heli replied. The Queen narrowed her eyes on her son. “There’s nothing wrong with being reminded, Heli.”“I know, Mother.”Queen Camilla huffed, then stepped closer to her son and kissed his head. “Take care, son. And enjoy it as well.”“I will. Thank you, Mother.”After bidding goodbye to his father, he left the room to find his mate, who told him he’d just bid goodbye to his friend in the kitchen. He met Akiro on the stairs, who seemed to be looking for him as well.“Heli!” Akiro exclaimed. “Are you done talking to your parents?”Heli nodded. “And you?”“Yeah. Though it’s a little bit disappointing that Shiro wouldn’t come,” Akiro pouted. “Maybe I can hang out with him next time instead. He doesn’t really want to hang out with the

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 126: Idea

Third Person’s Point of ViewAfter the engagement party, there was rarely a time when anyone wouldn’t see Akiro and Heli together. Where Akiro goes, Heli follows. The rare time they weren’t together was when Akiro hung out with Shiro, and even that had been reduced to just a few days a week compared to their daily hangouts before. They became inseparable, still on the high of their engagement. And despite their family and friends’ teasing and protests, neither of them cared enough to change it. Two weeks after the party, Akiro was left alone because Heli had to attend a negotiation with an elite vampire clan in Heldrix’s stead because the older Lancaster had been tasked with something else at the last minute. In his boredom, he suddenly came up with an idea. He quickly went to Shiro to ask his opinion.“What do you think?” Akiro asked.“I think it’d be good for you,” Shiro answered. “You’ve been cooped up in the palace ever since you arrived here. You seldom go to the town. You haven

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 125: Dance

Third Person’s Point of View“To our honored guests, I deeply apologised for the ruckus earlier, but I assure you all; everything’s been handled already. If you wish to continue the party, you may do so. Those who wish to leave, you may do so as well. My Queen and I will escort you out,” King Vladimir announced when he and the rest of his family returned to the hall. Just as he expected, Regia Astara’s allied kingdoms, Regia Terrania and Regia Valexia, had left soon after them. Only Regia Solaria’s allied kingdoms remain, as well as the only kingdom where merfolks live, Regia Zepharia. It’s also the only kingdom that is neutral. No enemies, no allies. Being the only merfolk in Eldritch makes them practically the odd ones out, so the others tend to ignore or leave them be.The party continued with only four kingdoms remaining, though Regia Zepharia left an hour later, leaving the allied kingdoms on their own.“That’s insane,” Aubrey commented after Akiro finished telling them the reas

Third Person’s Point of View“Had I known those humans’ filthy offspring were the one engaged to the ice prince, I wouldn’t have bothered attending their party!” Queen Amari exclaimed as she stomped inside their bedroom. “What a waste of time and effort!”“We should pay more attention next time,” King Lorenzo said. The Queen scoffed. “I knew there was a reason I wasn’t paying attention during the introduction. My gut was telling me it was a piece of shit that was in front!”In truth, she didn’t pay attention because she was busy trying to identify the weird scent she could smell amidst the hundred mixed scents floating inside the hall. That particular scent stood out though, and it grated Amari’s nerves because it was so familiar, but she couldn’t pinpoint why.And then, coincidentally, she almost bumped into the owner of the weird scent. Upon seeing the owner’s face, a memory from nearly a lifetime ago flashed in her mind. Her first love. Her first mate. Her first heartbreak. The o

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 123: Murderers

Third Person’s Point of View“What the fuck are you on?” Heli growled at the woman, pushing Akiro behind him. The miniscule respect he had for the woman quickly faded the moment she yelled insults towards his mate.“That man you’re hiding from me!” the woman continued yelling, uncaring of the crowd that gathered around them to watch. “Why the hell is he here!?”“This man that you’re pointing at is my mate and my soon-to-be-husband,” Heli snarled, glaring viciously at the woman. “And if you forgot, you’re a ‘guest’ here at ‘our’ engagement party. So if I were you, I’m going to watch my fucking tongue before I cut it off.”The woman’s eyes widened, both in surprise at how the ice prince had talked to him and at the fact that it was Akiro who Heli was engaged with.“What...”Akiro narrowed his eyes at the woman, thinking about what made her angry. He was sure it was the first time he had met her, but she seemed to know him. And then there’s her anger that he had no idea where it came fr

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 122: Reunited

Third Person’s Point of ViewHeli knew his mate was itching to find his friends and greet them. He knew Akiro was slowly getting bored with meeting different people from different kingdoms. But he couldn’t find himself to help his mate get out of their situation. Akiro has already fulfilled his part of the tradition, and he can go to his friends now after the introduction. But Heli didn’t want him to go.This was supposed to be about them, but Akiro would eventually spend more time with his friends than with Heli, who knew he’d be stuck with socialising with the other kingdom’s rulers.Heli knows it was selfish of him to keep his mate by his side when Akiro clearly wanted to escape, but he didn’t want the man to go. He didn’t want to see him spending time with other people while he wasn’t there. But upon seeing the longing look in Akiro’s eyes, when he finally saw his friends gathered at a table, Heli relented. He would rather feel jealous than see his mate look like that.“Go on,” H

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 121: Betrothed

Third Person’s Point of ViewAkiro stood on the balcony of their room, watching the guests trickle inside the palace gate. None of them were permitted to arrive directly in front of the palace. They all needed to pass the gates with the invitation card given to them with the kingdom’s sigil. He felt his excitement rise when he saw Terrence and Aubrey along with the rest of the royal family of Regia Obsivia. He was itching to leave his room and approach them when Regia Luximere followed just a few minutes after. His friends were here! He was dying to talk to them, but because of Regia Solaria’s tradition, he could only show up once they were called. He wanted to meet his friends first! He hasn’t had the chance to talk to them since the meeting. He misses them. His excitement dwindled when he saw another kingdom appear. Even though he never saw them, he immediately knew who they were.Regia Astara’s royal family. Even from afar, Akiro could see the way they carried themselves. Their po

Third Person’s Point of View“Do I really need to do this?” Akiro asked, face pleading at his mate, who smirked at him.“Of course. We’ll dance in front of the guests and our family. We have to give them a show.”Akiro huffed. “But I can’t dance!”The vampire raised an eyebrow. “Oh? But I can still perfectly remember you dancing with a stranger in a bar,” Heli said. “Sexy dance, if I might add.”Akiro blushed at the reminder. “T-that’s different! I’m drunk then! I didn’t know what exactly I was doing!”“Uh-huh. And yet you still kept a cool head to stop the girl when she was about to throw herself at you,” Heli’s eyes turn dark at the memory of the girl’s pathetic attempt at flirting and seducing his mate, who wasn’t even into girls. “That’s because even in my drunken state, I know my preferences.”Heli raised an eyebrow, dark eyes staring intensely at his mate. “Oh?” he mumbled lowly. “So if it was a guy, you’d flirt back?”Akiro’s eyes widened, knowing full well he had made a trap

Third Person’s Point of View“Do you think he’d agree?” Queen Camilla asked her husband, brows furrowed in concern. The King glanced at his wife, smiling reassuringly. “He will.”The Queen bit her lips, still hesitating. Thousands of negative thoughts swirl inside her mind, and her heart aches at the thought it’d be his son who would suffer the consequences if it fails.Though it seemed the King had noticed her internal crisis, his hands reached out to his mate’s face. “It’ll be alright, Cami. He’ll agree; I’m sure of that.”“How? Even I hadn’t See it happening,” the woman replied. But the King just smiled. ###Akiro groaned. “Stop being annoying and just help me with this, will you?” he grumbled at his friend, who was cackling maniacally after teasing him about his burnt cookies.“How the hell can I help you with that? It’s not salvageable anymore!”“And whose fault is that? You distracted me when I was supposed to get it out of the oven!”“Oh, please. Stop using me as an excuse fo
