Third Person’s Point of View

Akiro was expecting days of traveling on a carriage or horse when they said they would travel to another kingdom. He was expecting days of seeing new places and scenery and meeting new vampires. He was expecting to rest in an inn or what after hours of traveling.

It didn’t occur in his mind that they would arrive in the middle of the Kingdom of Regia Luximere’s courtroom in a matter of a few seconds once they all exited through the secret backdoor of their kingdom.

He completely forgot that one of the Lancaster siblings has the ability to teleport to other places, which means an easy and quick travel without the hassle of carriages and coming to stop at some rest stops.

Akiro wanted to facepalm as he forgot once again how different this world was, and how the vampires' abilities are so convenient to their way of living.

He wondered if it was so easy to travel to different places, then why can’t he just go home after the meeting to check on his grandparent

Third Person’s Point of View“This is all good and fun, but can anyone introduce that handsome man right there to us? He looked extremely delectable just standing there by himself.”Almost immediately, all attention was on Akiro. He instantly blushed as several pairs of eyes watched him awkwardly stand there, avoiding everyone’s gaze.“Shut the fuck up.”Akiro felt goosebumps all over his body when he heard his mate’s cold voice. His tone was harsh and sharp as he glared at the man who spoke. The blonde-haired man merely raised an eyebrow at Heli, unfazed by his tone and glare.“What? I just wanted to know his name,” the blonde said.Heli growls viciously at the man and, in a blink of an eye, was already on Akiro’s side, arms wrapped possessively around the confused human. “Helios?” Alliah looked so confused as she looked at Heli and Akiro, a frown on her face. But for the first time since they arrived, Heli ignored her. He continued glaring at the blonde man as he spoke. “This is my

Third Person’s Point of View“So... why haven’t you marked that bull-headed vampire yet?” Akiro abruptly turned around, eyes wide at Savannah’s question. “Uh, what?”“Come on! Don’t act clueless, cutie. We can smell him on you, but we don’t smell you on him,” the blonde said. “Not that your scent is strong. Humans do have weaker scents than vampires and shapeshifters, like merfolks. Well, merfolks smell like saltwater, so I don’t think that’s the right comparison.”Akiro just got even more confused by the blonde’s rambling. “I’m not acting clueless. I’m just quite surprised at how forward you are considering this is the first time we met.”The blue-haired man laughed loudly, while the other two just chuckled at the pouting Savannah. “He got you there, Sav,” the blonde man said.“Not even an hour since you met, and you have already asked him a personal question,” the blue-haired man shook his head. “It’s not my fault! I’ve been dying in curiosity when I saw Helios’ neck was still un

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 87: The Fuck Buddy

Third Person’s Point of ViewHeli was never the friendly type. He can count on one hand the number of people he considered friends. The rest were just acquaintances or just mere beings living in the same space as he is.One of his friends he considered was this woman clinging on to his arms. “— and it was so annoying, Helios! Alphas are just so infuriating, you know? All they want is a hole for their disgusting knots! I don’t want that! I’m not just an omega they can bed!”“Was it really disgusting?” Heli replied dryly. “I remembered you telling me before how you love being knotted.”Alliah glared at him, though her cheeks were tinted red. “Of course, it is! You know it’s only the heat talking.” She scoffed.Helios snorted at that, totally not believing it. Alliah pulled away from him, much to his relief, because he didn’t have the heart to push her away. “We haven’t seen each other for months and this is how you’ll treat me? You are so mean!”The vampire rolled his eyes, looking ex

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 88: Doubt

Third Person’s Point of View“So you mean to say that werewolves have their own way of getting their own mates? Like how vampires have the Crystal of Fate?” Akiro asked his werewolf acquaintances.“Yup! In our case, it is believed to be the Moon Goddess who gave us our fated mates,” Savannah responded. “And unlike vampires, where there’s a Crystal that would show them who their mates are, werewolves just have to hope they cross paths with theirs.”“One way to know who a werewolf’s mate is when a certain scent gets too strong. They’ll know immediately what it means when, among a crowd of mixed scents, there’s a certain one that you smell so clearly and profoundly,” Pierce added. “Their wolf’s instinct would move on its own when they sense their mate is around.”Akiro nodded in understanding. “That’s kind of... uh, how do I put it in words? Difficult? Because you’d have to be lucky to cross paths with your mate then. Is there any case where a werewolf never meets their mate?”“Lots,” Wa

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 89: Worried

Third Person’s Point of ViewAkiro sometimes hates himself for being so... compassionate. It drives him insane whenever he’s putting someone else’s comfort before himself, but he keeps on doing it anyway because he can’t bear the guilt of putting his own comfort first over someone who’s clearly in trouble.Like right now. It’s been two hours since Heli left and he still hasn’t returned. Akiro’s bored out of his mind in the first hour he’s alone, but the next hour that follows suddenly made him nervous and anxious. He doesn’t know what is troubling Alliah and why it’s taking them quite a while, but it makes Akiro nervous. As to why he’s feeling that way... he’s not entirely sure. Is it because of Alliah’s tone when she was asking for Heli’s help? Or is it because Heli and Alliah have been together again for the past two hours? Akiro really didn’t know. Maybe it’s both.It was when another hour had passed that Akiro decided to leave the room in an attempt to search for his mate. But he

Third Person’s Point of ViewHeli watched Alliah as she walked away, head hanging low. It was so different from the cheerful and confident Alliah from earlier, and it just made Heli feel even more furious at her bitch of a mother for reducing his friend to this state.Sighing deeply, Heli entered their room. He found Akiro sitting on the bed, leaning on the headboard. Akiro was reading a thick book that he quickly put down when Heli entered.“How did it go?” Akiro asked.“Alright, I guess,” Heli muttered. He sat on the edge of the bed. “Alliah is still scared, but we have no other choice but to leave it be for today.”Though clueless of what Heli was talking about, Akiro still nodded in understanding. He bit his lips, hesitating for a moment, but his curiosity ultimately won.“So... can you explain to me what that was about?” Akiro asked slowly, as if testing Heli’s mood. The vampire looked at him, warmth filling his chest at how considerate his mate was. He was jealous and upset at h

Third Person’s Point of View“Nervous?” Akiro looked up to his mate and flashed a small smile. “A bit.”“Is it the meeting, or Alliah?”“Both?” Akiro responded. “But more about Alliah than the meeting, honestly. Her heat is nearing, right?”“Yes. That’s why she was extra clingy to me when I arrived yesterday. It seemed her wolf had recognised my scent.”Akiro decided to ignore the way his stomach twisted at what Heli said. “But it still hasn’t come, right? Will something happen when she’s trapped in a room with an Alpha?”“If the heat still hasn’t come, it will eventually when she smells an Alpha’s scent. Especially when said Alpha would purposefully trigger her heat using his pheromones,” Heli replied. The human nodded in understanding, eyes contemplative. “I hope we can do more for Alliah than just hide her away from her mother while we have a meeting with the king,” he mumbled.Heli moved closer to him, pulling Akiro in a hug. “We’ll think of something. Third Person’s Point of View“She’s nowhere to be found, Luna,” the servant whispered to Regia Luximere’s Luna, which made Mirien’s eyes twitch slightly in annoyance. She dismissed the servant, hands fisted into a ball as she fumed silently in her seat.‘Where is that bitch again? How the hell did she escape from the generals I’ve put in place around her room?’ Mirien seethed, jaw clenching tightly as she thought of where her wayward daughter could possibly be.If she wasn’t an important piece in her plans, she would’ve dispose her long ago. Mirien didn’t care if she was her daughter— her own flesh and blood. She doesn’t do sentiments and emotions. All Mirien wants is to keep her status and wealth. If Antonius found someone to carry his child, Mirien would be cast aside. It didn’t matter whether whoever it was was just a concubine or the mother of his Alpha child. Mirien will still be cast aside, and the pack will find that new woman as their new Luna. Third Person’s Point of View“Take care of your mate, alright? Don’t let him go anywhere alone,” Queen Camilla reminded his youngest son, who huffed indignantly at being reminded of taking care of his mate.“Of course, Mother. You don’t need to remind me,” Heli replied. The Queen narrowed her eyes on her son. “There’s nothing wrong with being reminded, Heli.”“I know, Mother.”Queen Camilla huffed, then stepped closer to her son and kissed his head. “Take care, son. And enjoy it as well.”“I will. Thank you, Mother.”After bidding goodbye to his father, he left the room to find his mate, who told him he’d just bid goodbye to his friend in the kitchen. He met Akiro on the stairs, who seemed to be looking for him as well.“Heli!” Akiro exclaimed. “Are you done talking to your parents?”Heli nodded. “And you?”“Yeah. Though it’s a little bit disappointing that Shiro wouldn’t come,” Akiro pouted. “Maybe I can hang out with him next time instead. He doesn’t really want to hang out with the

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 126: Idea

Third Person’s Point of ViewAfter the engagement party, there was rarely a time when anyone wouldn’t see Akiro and Heli together. Where Akiro goes, Heli follows. The rare time they weren’t together was when Akiro hung out with Shiro, and even that had been reduced to just a few days a week compared to their daily hangouts before. They became inseparable, still on the high of their engagement. And despite their family and friends’ teasing and protests, neither of them cared enough to change it. Two weeks after the party, Akiro was left alone because Heli had to attend a negotiation with an elite vampire clan in Heldrix’s stead because the older Lancaster had been tasked with something else at the last minute. In his boredom, he suddenly came up with an idea. He quickly went to Shiro to ask his opinion.“What do you think?” Akiro asked.“I think it’d be good for you,” Shiro answered. “You’ve been cooped up in the palace ever since you arrived here. You seldom go to the town. You haven

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 125: Dance

Third Person’s Point of View“To our honored guests, I deeply apologised for the ruckus earlier, but I assure you all; everything’s been handled already. If you wish to continue the party, you may do so. Those who wish to leave, you may do so as well. My Queen and I will escort you out,” King Vladimir announced when he and the rest of his family returned to the hall. Just as he expected, Regia Astara’s allied kingdoms, Regia Terrania and Regia Valexia, had left soon after them. Only Regia Solaria’s allied kingdoms remain, as well as the only kingdom where merfolks live, Regia Zepharia. It’s also the only kingdom that is neutral. No enemies, no allies. Being the only merfolk in Eldritch makes them practically the odd ones out, so the others tend to ignore or leave them be.The party continued with only four kingdoms remaining, though Regia Zepharia left an hour later, leaving the allied kingdoms on their own.“That’s insane,” Aubrey commented after Akiro finished telling them the reas

Third Person’s Point of View“Had I known those humans’ filthy offspring were the one engaged to the ice prince, I wouldn’t have bothered attending their party!” Queen Amari exclaimed as she stomped inside their bedroom. “What a waste of time and effort!”“We should pay more attention next time,” King Lorenzo said. The Queen scoffed. “I knew there was a reason I wasn’t paying attention during the introduction. My gut was telling me it was a piece of shit that was in front!”In truth, she didn’t pay attention because she was busy trying to identify the weird scent she could smell amidst the hundred mixed scents floating inside the hall. That particular scent stood out though, and it grated Amari’s nerves because it was so familiar, but she couldn’t pinpoint why.And then, coincidentally, she almost bumped into the owner of the weird scent. Upon seeing the owner’s face, a memory from nearly a lifetime ago flashed in her mind. Her first love. Her first mate. Her first heartbreak. The o

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 123: Murderers

Third Person’s Point of View“What the fuck are you on?” Heli growled at the woman, pushing Akiro behind him. The miniscule respect he had for the woman quickly faded the moment she yelled insults towards his mate.“That man you’re hiding from me!” the woman continued yelling, uncaring of the crowd that gathered around them to watch. “Why the hell is he here!?”“This man that you’re pointing at is my mate and my soon-to-be-husband,” Heli snarled, glaring viciously at the woman. “And if you forgot, you’re a ‘guest’ here at ‘our’ engagement party. So if I were you, I’m going to watch my fucking tongue before I cut it off.”The woman’s eyes widened, both in surprise at how the ice prince had talked to him and at the fact that it was Akiro who Heli was engaged with.“What...”Akiro narrowed his eyes at the woman, thinking about what made her angry. He was sure it was the first time he had met her, but she seemed to know him. And then there’s her anger that he had no idea where it came fr

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 122: Reunited

Third Person’s Point of ViewHeli knew his mate was itching to find his friends and greet them. He knew Akiro was slowly getting bored with meeting different people from different kingdoms. But he couldn’t find himself to help his mate get out of their situation. Akiro has already fulfilled his part of the tradition, and he can go to his friends now after the introduction. But Heli didn’t want him to go.This was supposed to be about them, but Akiro would eventually spend more time with his friends than with Heli, who knew he’d be stuck with socialising with the other kingdom’s rulers.Heli knows it was selfish of him to keep his mate by his side when Akiro clearly wanted to escape, but he didn’t want the man to go. He didn’t want to see him spending time with other people while he wasn’t there. But upon seeing the longing look in Akiro’s eyes, when he finally saw his friends gathered at a table, Heli relented. He would rather feel jealous than see his mate look like that.“Go on,” H

  • The Last Chosen Mate   Chapter 121: Betrothed

Third Person’s Point of ViewAkiro stood on the balcony of their room, watching the guests trickle inside the palace gate. None of them were permitted to arrive directly in front of the palace. They all needed to pass the gates with the invitation card given to them with the kingdom’s sigil. He felt his excitement rise when he saw Terrence and Aubrey along with the rest of the royal family of Regia Obsivia. He was itching to leave his room and approach them when Regia Luximere followed just a few minutes after. His friends were here! He was dying to talk to them, but because of Regia Solaria’s tradition, he could only show up once they were called. He wanted to meet his friends first! He hasn’t had the chance to talk to them since the meeting. He misses them. His excitement dwindled when he saw another kingdom appear. Even though he never saw them, he immediately knew who they were.Regia Astara’s royal family. Even from afar, Akiro could see the way they carried themselves. Their po

Third Person’s Point of View“Do I really need to do this?” Akiro asked, face pleading at his mate, who smirked at him.“Of course. We’ll dance in front of the guests and our family. We have to give them a show.”Akiro huffed. “But I can’t dance!”The vampire raised an eyebrow. “Oh? But I can still perfectly remember you dancing with a stranger in a bar,” Heli said. “Sexy dance, if I might add.”Akiro blushed at the reminder. “T-that’s different! I’m drunk then! I didn’t know what exactly I was doing!”“Uh-huh. And yet you still kept a cool head to stop the girl when she was about to throw herself at you,” Heli’s eyes turn dark at the memory of the girl’s pathetic attempt at flirting and seducing his mate, who wasn’t even into girls. “That’s because even in my drunken state, I know my preferences.”Heli raised an eyebrow, dark eyes staring intensely at his mate. “Oh?” he mumbled lowly. “So if it was a guy, you’d flirt back?”Akiro’s eyes widened, knowing full well he had made a trap

Third Person’s Point of View“Do you think he’d agree?” Queen Camilla asked her husband, brows furrowed in concern. The King glanced at his wife, smiling reassuringly. “He will.”The Queen bit her lips, still hesitating. Thousands of negative thoughts swirl inside her mind, and her heart aches at the thought it’d be his son who would suffer the consequences if it fails.Though it seemed the King had noticed her internal crisis, his hands reached out to his mate’s face. “It’ll be alright, Cami. He’ll agree; I’m sure of that.”“How? Even I hadn’t See it happening,” the woman replied. But the King just smiled. ###Akiro groaned. “Stop being annoying and just help me with this, will you?” he grumbled at his friend, who was cackling maniacally after teasing him about his burnt cookies.“How the hell can I help you with that? It’s not salvageable anymore!”“And whose fault is that? You distracted me when I was supposed to get it out of the oven!”“Oh, please. Stop using me as an excuse fo
