“Yes, I know and believe me, I understand all that you have said. I know that it is important to you that you find your sister but if you don’t get the rest you need or the sleep you need, you wouldn’t need Carlos to kill you. You would be doing that yourself” Bennie said to him.

“Alright. It seems like I can’t change your mind. So what plans do you have?” Alexander asked him.

“Right! First, you get on that bed and you close your eyes, while I take a shower and get us breakfast. It may not be much but we would eat something and maybe we can grab lunch while we are outside” Bennie said to him.

“What do you mean by, it may not be much?” Alexander asked him.

“Getting a job has been pretty hard around here so whatever I have right now are things that my parents left me. I have used up all of my savings and I have almost used up theirs. I was hoping to find a good person that would probably have pity on me to employ me and pay me the barest minimum. It is hard to work here, especially

“That is probably because I am. I haven’t been this tasked in a long while. Before you came into my life, all I used to do was lay around and die in misery. You came along and now I have to move around, I have to get things done. It is really new to me” Bennie said to him. “I think I already figured that out by the way you look. I am sorry that my coming here has changed your life for the better. I am just glad that we got what we wanted. The day wasn’t a total waste. We can get down to looking for Lois tomorrow” Alexander said to him. The rest of the night was silent after that. They ate and Bennie headed to bed while Alexander stayed up as usual to keep guard. Something unusual happened that night. His phone rang. Nobody in existence had that number anymore, nobody. The only people that had the number were his parents and they were dead. He looked at the number that was calling him and he saw that he didn’t have the number saved. It was a back and forth battle of whether he should

Lois wasn’t sure that Aunt Mae was going to let her go but if this meant that she was going to get her revenge on Carlos in the end then she was down to go to the ends of the earth. She walked into what used to be the principal’s office and Aunt Mae sat there, going over some of the spell books that they had available. “I see that we have visitors” Aunt Mae said without looking up. “I came to talk to you about that. Alexander and Bennie used to school here. They are my friends and they need my help. There is a down side to me helping them” she said to her. “The down side is you can’t be here while you help them out. You would be using magic and that would expose us and put everybody else in danger” Aunt Mae said to her. “Yes, so that means that I would have to leave here for a while, maybe go on the little crusade that Alex is talking about and find a way to restore the witches back to what they were, what they used to be, what we used to be” she said, hoping that her speech was c

Alexander wanted to pry, wanted to tug at their little box of secrets, wanted to know exactly what had gone down or up between them while he was away but for some reasons, he decided that it was best if he didn’t. So instead, he listened to them talk about how school was after he left, he listen to them talk about how their favorite teacher had gotten married which had left another teacher heartbroken and unable to teach at the school anymore so he left. They talked about how life had been a little strange in the valley and how nobody could speak up anymore. Reliving the memories wasn’t something that Alexander had plans to do because the memories brought back so much pain for him. While his mates were busy being kids, he was busy training for a battle that didn’t have a specific date. He knew that his grandfather was not big on the fact that he was just a child but his grandfather was more invested in the fact that he was the last burning flame wolf and probably the savior of the wor

“I understand the situation but don’t you think that you are too young to be dropping bodies? Is it really necessary to be killing off people? We may be on the right side of this battle but what makes you think that killing everybody on the wrong side is a good option? Some people genuinely believe every lie that Carlos has told them because they don’t know any other truth. Those people are family members to someone out there. They are parents, children, and relatives even. You just deprived someone in the world of their family. How do you sleep at night knowing that you are the reason that someone is mourning?” Lois said to her. “I sleep the same way Carlos slept after he took my family away from me. Like a toddler who just got milk drunk. That is how I slept, if I actually slept. I need you to know that I do not regret any of the things that I did and if I get the chance to do it again, I will do it without thinking twice. I don’t need to feel guilty when he made me this way” Ariel

“Alexander? Did you hear me? Matilda is closing in on us. We don’t know if she has alerted Carlos and they could be on their way here now. We need to get out of here. I would do a cleansing spell so that she wouldn’t be able to find traces of clues that we were even here. The last thing we want is Carlos knowing that you are back in town” Lois went on and on, telling him how it was important that they made plans to leave but Alexander wasn’t listening to her. His mind was far away from her. All he could do was stare at the person that stood in front of him. He hadn’t seen her in years and now she was here. Something was wrong. His mind went to his grandfather but there was no way in the world that anybody could find his grandfather. He had stayed hidden for years and away from everybody else, only seeing whoever he wanted to see. There was no way that he could be in danger now. There was no danger to be in! Alexander screamed at himself. Maybe she was just here because she needed to

“Do you think that we would be making a mistake if we go with him?” Cathy asked her brother. “We have always wanted to leave here. Don’t grow cold feet now. We had plans to run away even before Alexander showed up. If we don’t leave now, we would never get the chance to do so again. We need to move as fast as possible now that we have someone that is willing to help us move” Carson said to her. “What if father comes after us? What if he catches up with us and he kills us off the same way he did with mom? We may not be living our best lives here but at least we are alive. Isn’t that what is important? I know that we had plans, too many of them but right now, this looks like a dangerous gamble. Dad is a monster. Who knows what he would do when he finds out that we are missing? Maybe this is where we ought to be” Cathy said to her brother. “Here? What the hell do you mean by that? If you want to stay here with your father then be my guest! I wouldn’t be doing that with you. He dropped on the bed where his sister slept. He touched her hair softly and she curled to his touch. He could tell that she felt safe, something that none of them had felt in a very long time. He didn’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. They had arrived at the Southern Crest Valley around six in the morning and now, they were comfortably tucked in Bennie’s house. Everybody was sound asleep, everybody but him. He couldn’t bring himself to sleep. This was the fifth day and he still had two days left before he went for Carson and Cathy but he knew that two days was a lot of time. They could be ready to move tonight but he didn’t want them doing that. He wondered what his grandfather’s reaction would be when he walked into the house with everybody else. The surprise on his face, the questions in his eyes. Well, they had nowhere else to go and it was his fault that they were in this mess so it was only reasonable that he took up the responsibility to keep them safe. He stood u

“I don’t think it would kill me to test that theory” he said to her. “No, it wouldn’t but we would not be testing that theory without magic for back up. So, until we can get Lois on board with this new agenda of yours, nobody is stabbing anybody in the chest just to prove a theory” Bennie said, his eyes still closed and his back turned to them. “Sorry” Arielle said with a laugh. “Whatever” he said back. “So how is your real mom like?” Arielle asked her brother. “Dead. She is cold. She definitely doesn’t give me the information that I need. She tells me what she thinks I need to know and leaves me to find out the rest for myself. Sometimes it is a good thing, sometimes it is a bad thing. I just go with whatever flow is there and get the job done. I know she wants me to do something but I don’t know what it is. When the time is right, I would probably find out too” he said to her. “Does she know where mom is?” Arielle asked her. “I don’t know. I didn’t ask her. I have never asked

Alexander laid back on his bed that night, unable to sleep. He kept tossing and turning from one side to another. He has been getting stick on the whole leadership assignment but this was the first time that he had questions that couldn’t be answered because the answers didn’t exist. He wanted a way out, a way that would get rid of the bloodshed. He didn’t want any more blood but it was looking like an impossible task. Everybody wanted Carlos dead. Alexander wanted him dead too but he wasn’t sure that was the way to get things done. If he killed Carlos, another person was jus going to rise up and take up the mantle, building on whatever legacy that he left behind. Alexander sighed and he turned to lay on his side. He couldn't believe that he was having sleepless nights over someone that didn’t deserve it. Maybe he should just go with the crowd and let them have his head for all of his crimes. Alexander wasn’t sure if that was the way though. He closed his eyes and decide that it was be

“What is going on with you?” She asked him, dropping her fork to look at him.“What are you talking about?” He asked her back.“There is an unsettling storm, raging in you. It is like a ticking bomb, ready to blow up. What is eating you up so bad?” She asked him.“Something in all of this story doesn’t add up” Alexander said to her.“What story?” She asked back.“Why Carlos wants be dead so much. I am not trying to ward off my responsibility or my duty to end his life but why does he hate me so much? I barely even know him. I haven’t done anything wrong to him. I need to find out why. That may be the reason to all of this insanity” Alexander said to her.“Carlos has killed more people than I can count. Why he did it wouldn’t make any difference to me. I can assure you. If you insist on finding out why he did it then maybe you should as your grandfather but no matter what sad story there is to why he did it, I am going to kill him, if you wouldn’t do it” she said to him.“And what if t

Carlos knew everything that was at stake. All of the legacy wasn’t going to matter if there was nobody to inherit it. He needed an heir, he needed his heir but Carlos had decided that he wasn’t going to rule. He groaned as his thoughts started to swallow him up. He ran his hands through his hair and slapped his forehead. Things around the house has been a little tense ever since he killed the maid. Everybody has been extra careful around him just so he doesn’t rip out their throats in anger, in his rage. Well, he did want the people to fear him and that was working out for him just fine, only it wasn’t working out the way he wanted it to work out. He was angry at the world, at himself, at his kids. The door to his room opened and his sister walked in.I have had my ears and eyes on the ground for a while. Miguel is dead, he wasn’t the one that broke the curse” she said to him.“That leaves us back at square one. We don’t know where they are or who broke the hex. Maybe you are not as p

“My sight is what I need to be complete. Losing it was both a blessing and a curse but all in all, it was experience. I learned to survive without it. I got the chance to develop my other senses because I had to depend on them but that doesn’t mean that I was okay with being blind. I need my sight back” Carson said to him.Miguel nodded and he started to chant. Carson felt an overwhelming power and he fell to his knees, weak and drained. The voices around him started to fade slowly until everything became silent. He couldn’t hear Miguel anymore then suddenly, light filled his eyes. He hated to use the statement but it was blinding. He closed his eyes and blinked continuously, trying to adjust to the brightness. He eventually passed out. Miguel opened his eyes and saw that Carson was unconscious but Lois wasn’t back from the magical realm. It only meant one thing, she was dealing with something that they couldn’t see in the physical realm.*****She felt s sharp sting at the back of he

Alexander knew that there was more to the story than he was being given by his mum because it made no sense that Carlos was acting out on his own. Alexander .contemplated on asking his grandfather. He knew that if anybody else knew the truth, it was going to be him. Regardless, he was not willing to ask his grandfather in front of people, especially not Carson. Carson might have seen his father as a monster, and maybe that was a good thing. Alexander wondered what Carson would do if he got to find out that his father was the way he was because of the mistake of one burning flame wolf. Alexander shook his head and pushed the thoughts to the back of his mind. He turned to look back at Carson and Lois.“How are you feeling, Carson?” Alexander asked him.“I’m trying not to get my hopes up. We don’t know the outcome of th

“I guess life looks different with Carlos. .Although I was expecting different. I can’t believe he would kill his own wife. The rumors had it that she slipped and fell from the balcony. Hearing that he killed his own wife just makes him more of a nightmare And I really hope that he gets what he deserves” Alexander’s grandfather said to him.“My father thinks he is on the right side of this war. He believes that the burning flame wolves should be eliminated. I have never understood his hate But at the same time, I have never seen him so scared of anything in his entire life. Something tells me that this battle is bigger than any of us. Either ways, it is not an excuse for him to have done the things that he did and for that, he has to pay!” Carson said to him.“And He will when the time is right but now, we have to focus on getting your sight back so that we can prepare for battle. Something tells me that your father is not going to sit back and let the two of you explore the world. I

He could tell how glad she was to see him.“Look at that. You are back. I wasn’t expecting you to be back so soon. What happened? The last time we saw, you said you were going home to see your family. I didn’t think you would be coming back anytime soon. I was hoping to see you in three years time, kiddo. What went wrong?” She asked him.“I can ask you the same thing. You look like you haven’t opened this place since I was last here. What happened here?” Alexander asked her, diverting the topic from his miserable experience to hers.“I came here one morning. I found the place all bashed and broken up. Some people said that it wasn’t people from the neighborhood and it was from Southern Crest. Someone said they were trying to warn me. It was better to be safe than sorry so I chose to be safe. I didn’t open up the diner anymore. I

We did it” Alexander said, dropping on the sofa and taking a slice of the pizza in front of him.“I thought we were supposed to be keeping a low profile! How is that a low profile in any way?” Bennie asked him.“Arielle needed to do it and she did it. Also, according to what you just said, nobody knows who did it. That is the point. Alexander waited until she was in the house before he drove off. He and Arielle headed for their house first. When they got there, he noticed that she sat still, not making any attempt to leave the car. He touched her hand and she looked at him. She had tears in her eyes and Alexander sighed. He didn’t know what to tell her to make her feel better. How could she feel better? The last time that she was in the house was when her mom was being killed. He nodded at her and cleared his throat.“You really don’t have to do this. We can’ always do this another day” Alexander said to her.“There is no other day. We have to do this now. I need to see the condition of the place. I need to know how much damage the did to the memories left in the house. I need to see if mom and dad still have anything in the house, something can take along with me to remind me of their sacrifice” she said to him.“I don’t think you would ever forget it but there are a lot of things in the house.
