'Mum, your friend deceived you. The drug did not work. It was totally useless!' Camellia said to her mother as soon as she entered her room and shut the door. She leanedbà heavily on the shut door and exhaled. It took a lot of effort to act. She most nearly scratched off Alexa's face when she refused an abortion. Her morality was disgusting. And when she hugged her, Camellia had wanted to throw her as far away from her body as possible. The only thing that kept her controlled was the plan she had come up with.
Before her mother could say anything though, she continued, stalling any outbursts. 'I bought her a kit just now and the test was positive. We tried about three times and the result was the same!' she said, panting. It was obvious she was furious. Her father had tried to hide it but she had always known that Alexa held a special place in her father's heart. She would have born it, though it had relieved her when her mother showed she preferred her to Alexa and when her brothers went away to camp for training, she had her mother all to herself. At first she had felt bad that she liked the way her mother maltreated Alexa, making her do her chores as well as Camellia's but one day when she confronted her mother with it, her mother's response had come as a shock to her. 'Of course, I prefer you to that foolish maid!' Amelia said. Camellia was eleven at the time and Alexa fourteen. 'I know you may not like her as much as you do me, but calling her a maid...' she said, trying to understand the reason for such hatred. 'I do not just like you more than her, I don't like her at all but I love you with all my heart', she said. Then looking intently at Camellia she said, 'It's time!' 'Time for what?' Camellia asked, really confused now. 'Before I say anything to you, you must promise not to breath a word of this to anyone else, not even to your brothers and definitely not to Alexa!' she said , looking earnestly at her daughter. 'I promise', Camellia said, not really sure what she was promising. 'Alexa is not really my daughter. She is my step child!' her mother released her bombshell and Camellia felt her mouth shaped the word 'What?' but no sound came out. 'She is the child from an affair your father had with a woman who was not a werewolf. That's all you need to know about her mother', she said, recalling the pain of the betrayal she had felt when she had found out and though her husband had remained faithful since then, Alexa had always been a reminder of that affair and his betrayal. 'I know you said, I need not know more about Alexa's mother and I assumed Dad sent her away to please you', Camellia said musing over what she had heard. It explained alot. 'Why didn't you send her away with her mother? I feel that would have been the most natural and logical thing to do!' 'I allowed her stay for alot of reasons', she said transported to that time in the past. 'First was that I had no daughter of my own and wanted a daughter badly and denying Melinda her daughter seemed appropriate so that she could feel the same pain I felt when she stole my husband from me', she confessed. 'I also knew that the presence of Alexa in the home would stop your father, though a honourable man, from going after his mistress and make him grateful and indebted to me for being so honourable as to adopt his illegitimate child!' 'Wow, that makes sense!' Camellia said, understanding her father's love for Alexa. 'But when you came along, there was no longer any need for me to pretend to love Alexa except of course when your father is around and the public of course. I had to keep up appearances and not have people doubting that she was not my biological daughter', she ended. 'You see the reason, she or anyone doesn't need to know about all these?' Camellia nodded. 'Don't worry, mum, this is going to remain between us!' 'Good!' her mother said smiling approvingly. 'I knew I could count on you. You arey daughter afterall!' she added, hugging her tightly. 'Do what is this genius plan of yours?' her mother asked, clearly bothered. 'I tried to convince her to have an abortion but she would have none of it but decided to run away from home instead!' Camellia said. 'That's good, isn't it?' her mother said thoughtfully. 'It will rid us of her and the trouble she constitutes!' 'Yes, temporarily, until maybe, she comes back with her pup and reunites with the Lyncan Prince's, Camellia said. 'I was thinking of a permanent solution!' 'You mean, murder her and when her remains is found, if ever, claim she must have fallen prey to rogues or other wild animals as she fled from home because of her shame!' 'Perfect!' Camellia said, approvingly. 'But I have a better plan. I will stay with her till she gives birth and then I shall carry out my plan!' 'Why are you being so secretive about this plan of yours?' Amelia asked, curiously. 'I'm not!' Camellia smiled. Then she whispered her plans to her mother who kept nodding approvingly and smiled admiringly at her daughter. Her daughter was turning out to be wider than she could ever imagine. She was her daughter afterall. 'So, you will tell Dad that I decided to go visit your people for a while, I could not bear the thought of not having Alexa around, because I miss her terribly'. 'You have thought it all out !' her mother said amazed. 'It's almost as though you planned it ahead of time'. 'I learnt from the best', she said hugging her mother. 'And when you get back, what then?' Amelia asked. 'How do we explain everything to your Dad?' 'We shall know what to do when that time comes!' she said. 'For now, I have to go pack, I have a trip ahead of me!' she said walking away.'Push!' the midwife, Camellia hired ordered Alexa, as the doctor held her legs apart.Alexa pushed one last time and the baby slipped out. She felt relief wash over her. She was happy she had decided fed to keep the baby. The journey through this pregnancy had not been very easy, what with the flu, morning sickness and all. Camellia had been there for her all through and though she had been snappy some of the time and disagreeable, Alexa forgave her knowing it could not have been easy on her, leaving all behind to be with her.'It's a boy!' the midwife announced. 'Such a handsome boy. He must look like his father!'Alexa's joy at the safe birth turned to anxiety. A father she did not know and who had never bothered to look for the innocent girl he took advantage of that fateful night. How was she going to bring the child up alone? she thought in hindsight. And when he asked about his father, what was she going to tell him? Anyway, when that time comes, she would know how to solve tha
A very beautiful and successful looking Alexa stepped out of the plane and the airport taxi conveyed her to the hotel that had already been booked for her. Her two children, Landon and Leigh by her side, chatting excitedly.'Mum, hope you have brought us back to see our father?' Landon asked. Not again, Alexa thought miserably. How was she going to tell her pups she did not know who their father was? It was true that she had regained some of her memory but there was still a lot of blank spaces. She had actually come back because she sought answers herself. She prayed the Moon Goddess would direct her on the right part.'I have come to see if I can find him', she replied. 'Remember, I have not fully recovered from my illness. But as soon as I find him, he has no option but to accept you!''Yehhhh!' they both shouted in glee, smiling happily at their beautiful mother who smiled back at them. She hoped that she was not going to disappoint them. She clearly recalled what the doctor had to
Wayne Farmer, the Vampire Lord could not believe how bereft he felt as soon as Alexa and the pups left for their home. He knew he knew he cared for Alexa, deeply but had not actually expected to feel this lonely. Not when he would be travelling to meet them in a couple of days. Why then did it seem like he was never going to see them again? If only she would accept to be his bride, then his search would be over....He recalled the discussion he had with the doctor a few days after he found them.'This type of Amnesia is mainly brought on by a traumatic experience. Did you experience something traumatic lately?'She did not know how to answer the question. It was Wayne who had answered the question for her.'Giving birth and to twins can be counted as traumatic, can't it?' he asked. He had been driving past and suddenly felt pressed. He drove for a while, wanting to get to the hotel before relieving himself but he must have drunk too much wine at the club for him to be unable to ho
'Alexa!' Beta Andrew called shocked. 'is it really you?' 'The one and the same!' she said shrugging and smiled wistfully. 'Are you disappointed?''Who do we have here?' Camellia said, coming into the room. If she was shocked to see her elder half sister, she did not let on.'I was told that you were devowed by some rogues, when you were running away from bringing shame to us!' her father explained.'Is that so?' Alexa asked looking meaningfully at her step sister. 'Did her sister really think that or was it just her way of covering her crime? She wished she could remember what actually happened before Wayne saw and rescued her and her two pups. She only knew that when she regained consciousness, she asked for her baby and she was given, not one but two and she was grateful. How she recalled she had a baby was still a mystery to her since she could not recall any other thing, except that her father had wanted to disown her for her pregnancy and Camellia had offered to go with her.'T
After calling Alexa for a while and she refused to come back, Andrew faced his wife and second daughter, his eyes flashing in fury. 'I thought we had an agreement concerning revealing this to Alexa?' he asked, barely able to control his anger.'And for how long do you expect to hide this truth from her?' Amelia asked, just as furiously. 'Do you want this secret to follow us to the grave? She has a right to know and I think you should be thanking me rather than blaming me for revealing to your previous daughter, her true parentage'.'At least, she didn't need to find out this way. You should have told me you had plans to reveal this to her and we would have broken it to her gently, not in the manner you made her find out!' he said. 'Did you ever love her at all?' he asked. He was beginning to think that his wife had held Alexa responsible for her mother's sins. What the girl must have suffered and she never complained.'It just happened. I had not planned to tell her but I have to ens
'Who are you and what do you mean, you were asked to expect me?' Alexa asked stupified, her pain at finding out that she was an illegitimate child temporarily forgotten.'Ha,ha,ha', he laughed, his voice rich and melodious, his eyes twinkling. 'We have been keeping watch over you since you were born but we dared not make our presence known until the right time!''We?' she queried. 'Who are 'we'?''The witches clan!' he said, looking at her intently.'Okay', Alexa said, her palms raised to stop him saying anything further until she could dissect what he had already said. 'What has the witch clan got to do with me?' she asked. 'By the way, my name is Myles. Myles Prescott at your service!' the strange silver man said. Alexa was still bemused but from what the man Myles had said, she deduced he must be from the witch clan and that made him a wizard.'So, Myles Prescott, you are saying you are a wizard and you have been waiting in the forest here for me to make my appearance?' she asked
Alexa got home that day and was happy to find her children in good health. She had had to leave that hit because it suddenly occured to her that she had left her children for far too long and she didn't want to be like her mother who did not know how to be a good mother. All through the night, she could not sleep, she kept having nightmares, of vampires and witches and wats with werewolves. She jerked up, sweating. Amidst her dreams, she had dreamt of that night five years ago and she almost caught the face of the man but it had become blurred and elusive and even now that she was awake, she felt her heart pounding. She was sure she almost saw his face. She had to so that she could at least know how to describe him. 'I might even have been passing him on the road without knowing he is the one!' she thought in alarm. 'But what if he recognizes me?' she thought. 'He should, he must have been sober that night but why hasn't he come forward?' she thought in frustration. Why will he? she
'I'm very sorry, Alexa', Wayne Farmer said as soon as he entered the room where she was busy packing hers and her children's clothes. 'Grandfather Farmer told me what happened last night. I can assure you it will never happen again!''Wayne!' Alexa shouted in surprise. 'When did you come back?''Early this morning!' he replied, hugging her.'Uncle Wayne, we missed you!' the twins chorused, running to him for hugs.'I wasn't expecting you for another two days at least!' she said.'I finished my business earlier and felt there was no need staying back. So I hurried home to be with my favourite boy and girl!' he replied smiling first at Landon, then at Leigh and finally at Alexa. He hoped she could see how much he loved her.'Well, we are not sticking around here anymore', she said, looking at him imploringly. 'I don't feel comfortable here anymore. Haven't since last night. What if I had been a moment late?' she asked shuddering at the fangs she had seen.'I said I am sorry. It should n
