We lapsed into a silence except for Vale’s occasional sigh after putting a mouthful of food in his mouth. I took the opportunity to eye-fuck my mate. He was so young and still had a light in his eyes that came with being younger. There was also a hardness and an understanding of the world I knew that Bryan had been trying to drill into me since we got here. Vale saw and heard a lot from the High Council, I was sure. Both bad and good. He definitely took after Auri, though. There was a smile in everything she did, even after all the things I had heard she went through. Even after everything the previous Alpha King had done to force her out of her pack. Vale seemed to carry that same smile. “Little Alpha, are you lost somewhere in your thoughts?” I chuckled. “You know, I’m not an Alpha anymore.” Vale rolled his eyes, settling down his plate in the sink. “You will always be an Alpha, Ezekiel. Whether or not your leading a pack. You are an Alpha. My Alpha.” The last two words he growl
I leaned against the balcony railing of the bedroom. It was maybe about 2 a.m. and Auri had been right. The storm blew through for about 5 hours but now the night sky was clear. Taking a deep breath of a cigarette, I blew it out into the air. I had never been one to smoke but after the training and re-education, Auri and I would sometimes sneak off to have a smoke. Apparently, if Bryan or Hector caught her, she would be in deep shit. Since her body no longer healed like a normal werewolf, it was actually bad for her. She still did it with Morgan though and now me. I wasn’t about to tell off the woman who I had seen destroy an entire camp of wolves what she could or couldn’t do. Shifting, I winced as my legs and ass radiated soreness. Sighing and looking over the ocean, I took another drag. “I didn’t know you smoked.” I turned to see Vale, naked, leaning against the balcony doorway. Taking him in, I exhaled out my nose, the smoke rising between us. “There is a lot we can learn about
“She just doesn’t get it.”I didn’t say anything as I stood next to him.“Ugh!” Vale threw up his hands. “She just expects me to take on the whole world and that’s not my job! I’m the Alpha King. Alpha. Werewolves. You know, our own people. Not everyone else.”He started to pace on the edge in front of me, walking back and forth as he continued. “That’s what the High Council is for. They need to deal with their own kind and make sure that shit does hit the fan! It’s not my fucking job to check on the witches or the vampires or the fey! I don’t care who starts this fucking war but you bet your ass I’ll be defending wolves!”“What if the wolves start the war?”He stopped to look at me. “I have an obligation to my kind to protect them. I’ve done my best to try and stop the spread of the drugs. Trying to get them to see fighting isn’t the answer. But at the end of the day…”“Even if a pack murders innocent lives and starts the war you’ll back the wolves?”His eyes snapped to mine. “What?
***Vale’s POV***I was laying on our bed, sprawled out in nothing but some gym shorts. Three days of hell. Three days of feeling like I was being thrown into a blender and pulverized. My cocky self had gotten both me and my mate into a world of pain. I thought when Hector and I were sparring back home, that was his final gear. It was not. Hell, he cranked it up maybe two or three gears. Now, I knew why Bryan said Hector could actually hold his own for a while with Mom.I sighed, closing my eyes. It has been three days and still not sign of her. She hasn’t come back and both Bryan and Hector said to not go looking for her. But three days was a long time. My heart hurt and guilt ate away at me. I knew I fucked up. When she blasted the load bearing support for the whole house, I knew I fucked up. My mom and I rarely had fights. This would probably be considered the worse. The one after she found Tyr and a fighting being a close second. We were too similar to have fights. We understood ea
I sat at the desk looking over papers. The High Council was sending me over the multitude of requests and issues going on so I could weed through them to see what fires needed to be put out. It seemed like an uphill battle though.Weeks had gone by. Weeks and still not a single word from my mom. She didn’t even acknowledge me. It wasn’t a childish ‘tell Vale this’ or ‘relay this message to him’ or even just writing something down. No, it was as though I wasn’t even home. Ezekiel tried to talk to her after the first week but to no avail. You could even see the slight worry in Hector and Bryan’s eyes.My tablet was next to me with the current roster of people in the pack. We had a good amount of warriors. A lot of the families from the old captains from Harvest Moon came to join the pack. Their kids taking up the mantle since most of the other captains had retired. I was sending groups of three usually to each issue, helping put out the spots that were coming up.The problem was the amo
“Vale?” Ezekiel’s voice sounded cracked and dry.I opened my eyes, looking down at him. “Hey, little Alpha. You doing okay?”He nuzzled further into my chest. “I…never want to go through that again.”Chuckling, I kissed his forehead. “I’m glad your coherent again. Come on, let’s get you out of this water. Get some water into you.”He nodded and I scooped him up in my arms. Ignoring the pain in my arm, I knew that even with my werewolf healing, it would take days for my arm to recover. Naresh was quiet in the back of my mind, tired from the continuous healing. I remembered what Hector said about my mom, that her wolf died trying to heal her and keep her alive. It was a fraction of what I’m sure she felt but I could understand it more now.I placed Ezekiel down and gently tried to see if he could weight on his legs without crumbling.“Vale, I’m fine. You can…”As soon as I let more of his weight fall, he started to drop and I just picked him back up. He whined, embarrassment flooding me
I stood in the shower, hot water streaming down my body. My eyes were closed and my head was facing the shower head above me. It felt good, my body’s tension releasing slowly. It had been four days and it didn’t seem like Ezekiel was even close to stopping. My only reprieve right now was when he passed out from coming too much within a short amount of time.Taking a deep breath, I leaned over and spread my ass cheeks. Blood ran down my leg and into the drain. Naresh now came forward to force Faris to submit when he got too excited. He also was able to heal every time it happened but it was slow going. I still let him take the reigns though. I knew he was an Alpha, as there was something in him still needing to be that Alpha. Ezekiel was starting to already take over the pack, working with Hector, Bryan and my Mom for the every day things. Apparently, it wasn’t enough. Faris showing his true colors as he took over.'Vale, do you need anything, dear?'I chuckled, hearing my mom mind lin
“Do you really need to go back so soon?” Ezekiel whined, helping me with my bag as I carried it down to the stairs. I sighed. “Yes, they are imploding according to Jess. They need help. I also need their help and for them to take me seriously. I know all the requests I sent were just tossed in the trash.” “Can’t I go with you?” He put his hand on my cheek and I smiled. “I’ll request it. Especially since now we have officially mated, but it might take a couple weeks. I’ll have you come though, don’t worry. I love you, my little Alpha.” Kissing Ezekiel on the forehead, I pulled him into a tight embrace. My face fell to his neck and into his loose hair. Inhaling deeply, I wanted his smell to fill me up once more before I left. The sparks even felt more like electrocutions than their usual calming energy. I didn’t want to let him go. Finally, I peeled myself away from him. “I’m leaving my car for you. So when I do call for you, you can come up to me.” He nodded, his eyes glossy. I kis
Hey everyone!! I wanted to go ahead and give an update here. We decided to move The Kings Alpha under the story Alpha's Blind Luna. The chapters have already been moved over there and that is where the new updates will be going to as well! I know! The first question is what about my coins and what I have already paid into this story! Don't worry! If you have already paid for up until Chapter 80, you are covered. You won't have to pay again until Chapter 81! I double checked with my editor because I was worried because I have stories I read on the site as well that shift and I wanted to make sure you guys were covered. :) I am trying to focus best I can on The King's Alpha moving forward and hoping to finish it as soon as possible! Im sorry for the major delay. I have a baby in the last few months and it has been an adjustment to having to kiddos and trying to juggle all the things that comes with that. Not to mention my little dude is the fussiest and doesn't like to be set down, wh
Hello everyone! I know it's been a minute since I've updated on the things going on. It's probably been a little frustrating and I know the writing process on my end for this story has been a little frustrating as well. I promise you I am still working on this one! I hit a bit of a wall and ended up throwing a number of chapters out the window. As I was going through that, I've been hit one after the other with health issues. The last of which I was out for two weeks with covid + pneumonia and landed myself in the ER. I was already in a compromised state but here we are. I'm slowly on the mend and even though I'm really not supposed to be working as much right now and just focusing on getting better, my love of writing and sharing with others has me continuing to work a little at a time. I've also been going through some of my older stories and working on editing them as well. Just because for a few days it was easier to read than to even must the brain power to dig in deep and to w
We all watched as Hector dished up some of the almost curry-like concoction. Jax put the bread in one of the breadbaskets we used. He took everything to the table but Hector held one bowl back. Opening up the fridge, he took out the container of sour cream. Putting a large dollop in the center, he smirked and held out the bowl to me. I took it and looked down at it. It smelled amazing even with the sour cream.“It softens the spice. You should be able to take it now.”I rolled my eyes but swung around and took my bowl to the table. Everyone was sitting down and it was so long since we had done this. Sadly, everyone was more serious.“Anyone have any news before I start? I’d like to eat a little before I talk my head off.”Hector grabbed a baguette slice and dipped it into his bowl. Everyone seemed to take that as a go ahead to eat. Lucy was the first to start.“Hospital is all set up. We also managed to snag two OBGYN doctors for the hospital. I had to bribe them quite a bit but we’ve
My eyes roamed up to the voice and the cigarette dropped out of my mouth between the rocks. Hector was standing before me. Cigarette between his fingers, brought up to his lips. He was thinner, gaunt. A look in his eyes that said he was far away, a pain I saw when I came back from the BloodHunter Coven but then so much more. His hair was cut short and he was completely clean shaven. Getting up, I threw my arms around him and hugged him. He chuckled awkwardly but did pat my back a couple times before letting go.“You’ve been missing for almost a year! What the hell happened?”He sighed, smoke coming out as he did. “It’s a long story. One probably best left for everyone to be present for.”I nodded, still taking in that he was here. “Are you hungry? We can get some food set up. Something to drink?” I glanced down at the duffle next to him. “You’re room is untouched. So you can drop your stuff off.”There was a moment of silence before his eyes finally met mine. “Right now, I’d like a ci
***Ezekiel’s POV***I sat across Vale at desk in the office. We are both immersed in different paperwork. I could feel his gaze fall to me sometimes but I didn’t look up, trying not to be distracted as much as I already was. This paperwork was important and it needed to be approved, signed, and submitted as soon as possible. Having my beautiful mate sitting across from me did not help. He had come home a couple weeks ago. It had been almost a month he was gone this time and I found that it never got easier to be away from him.Worse, the pack house was quiet without him. Auri was gone. It already been years and I think both Vale and I had started to accept that the strongest person in our lives was gone forever. Not to mention Hector. He was always gone from the pack house. Suddenly though, he started to not take any of our calls, even from Pipsqueak. We knew something bad happened but Vale said he was still connected to the pack. So there was some semblance of hope. Lucy had moved in
I sat in the back of a taxi headed back to the hotel. The last thing on my to-do list was adding another 5 days to our stay. I worried Hector’s heat may be worse than mine or even Ezekiel’s. It had been a struggle to keep my power reigned in. It felt unruly and wild. But I did itch to see how much more power I had compared to before. There wouldn’t really be time to test it now. For now, I just needed to focus on Hector and maybe getting reconnected to the world. The taxi stopped in front of the hotel. I grabbed my bags full of food, herbs, two laptops, and a few other necessities. Walking in, the receptionist was about to come around to grab the elevator when I stopped her. It was a quick an easy process to add another few days onto the stay and then she helped me into the elevator. As I was headed up, the door opened and the entire floor was dark. Setting the bags on the counter, I narrowed my eyes and looked around but I couldn’t see anything.Walking into the bedroom, I saw Hecto
“Goddess, I can’t remember the last time I had a shower.”I chuckled as Hector looked into the bathroom. “Imagine how I feel.”“Did you want to take one first?”Shaking my head, I was reading over the information the front desk provided. Apparently, there was a shopping district not too far from where we were. I looked at the little map printed on the page.“Auri?”“Oh! No no! Go take a shower. I’m going to head down and pick up a few things. At least some food for you. See if we can’t look semi-normal.”Hector walked into the kitchen where I had been leaning on the counter looking at the booklet. “Want me to go with you?”My eyes roamed over his naked figure. Sure, we had been naked for weeks but this was a completely different environment. It was hard keeping the smile off my face as I took him in.“No. I blend in a little more than you do.”“I can blend in.”This made me laugh. “Hector, you’re almost a foot taller than the average height here. Not to mention you absolutely are some
We ambled five minutes before we ran into anyone. Luckily, it was no one who knew us. They didn’t even stop as we swayed with the two bottles in our hand. I stopped at the power room. It was out of our way but I wasn’t about to leave this place running after everything I had gone through. Leaning Hector up against the wall, I unlocked the door with the keycard. It was too easy. No one was monitoring the room and it was as easy as pulling levels well past the red marker. It was sophisticated but at the same time, simple. I wondered where we were that would build a power system this easy to fuck up.Quickly, I closed the door and pulled Hector back over my shoulder and we ambled our way down the halls. Unfortunately, this route took us past the guard common room for the east side. Sure enough, three guards stood outside, chatting. They looked us up and down.“What the hell…”Flaring my nostrils, I pointed my pinky at them, while holding the beer bottle up. I did my utmost to slur my wor
It had been surprising quiet. I guessed three weeks had passed. Hector’s beard now being my indicator of time passing. At one point, he begged one of the lab coats to shave it off but they didn’t do anything. Once a week I got my injections and Hector received a meal that I was thankful I didn’t have to eat. Despite that, somehow, Hector looked bigger, gaining more muscle and height. I wondered if it was because of our bond or it was because the power I imparted into him. Either way, the guards gave him a more wary eye and it made me laugh. For the most part, they kept our chains slack, allowing us to be together. The only time was the meal time or if they were hauling me away for more additions. Yesterday had been one and I slept most of the rest of the day. After that, they had actually pulled the chains tight and we were stuck apart. It was wearing on Hector and I wondered how close we were to his heat. His replies were more growls than anything. The sound of scrapping reverberat
